what do you think? does the compensator have any other cons like geting dirt inside easily or so? or its not a problem and it can be still reliable even in water, sand, mud environment?
And finally, is it worth buying over uncompensated g17?
@bitkarek I shot both the 17 and the 17C. I like how flat shooting the 17C was. Recoil was the same, but the 17C comes straight back with little to no muzzle flip. Hard to say about how reliable it would be in the mud, sand and water environment since it has just been my range gun. I can say though that there is very minimal muzzle flash as most people have complained about. I think its worth it.
Almost EVERY rifle or pistol I own is ported ... it's the only way to go . Embrace high tech stuff , don't deny it because it aint like Granddad's old 1911 . Glock really needs to discover stainless steel . Would you buy a Bugati without power steering or seat belts or radial tires or disc brakes & air bags ? The only thing constant IS change - look who we have for a wannabe President at the moment .... ya stick a laser / flashlight combo underneath and run like hell . Fine pistol .
What is cool is that the safety is inside the trigger and that it has rails for tac. flash lights and lasers built in I would love to get this gun for my self
... My bud was telling about one of the new crossbreeds, apparently it's a one-clip IWB for small pistols like LCP. Not sure if you have seen one/ heard anything.
Just bought a g19c. Love the porting at the range. Question on the recoil spring: when I disassemble the spring is always slightly lifted out of the semi circle indentation. Basically it's the larger end of the spring (toward rear of gun). When I assemble it I push the spring all the way in/down. But when I rack the slide or fire and then disassemble the spring comes up a bit from the semi circle indentation that it is supposed to sit in. Is that normal for a glock?
@TheDerdman Most of my Glocks do the same thing. Not sure of the reason, but as far as I know, it doesnt affect the pistols performance or reliability.
I was just looking for few videos on the Glock 17c. Yours is the first one i viewed and I really enjoyed it. Very nice close ups of the the 17c and very useful information about the porting. I am looking for a gun with a little longer sight radius than my Glock 19 which I use as a fun range gun and in 9mm due to cost of ammo. Great video!
@xtremearmor Thanks! I really like the 17C. There were few people that had concerns about the porting and how it might compromise your night vision after shooting it, but I found that to be of no concern. I've shot this indoors under very low light and had no negative experiences with muzzle flash from the ports. I also really like the longer sight radius. Its not much of a difference on the ruler compared to a G19, but it makes quite a difference. All in all, its perhaps my favorite glock
@thaboomer53 hi, less muzzle flip but often times more flash. Some say its not good for a defensive handgun because of the the muzzle flash could compromise your sight picture. I've not experienced this in my case.
@chanderson1 I only have non ported handguns, and haven't thought about buying a ported one. Non ported seems to do ok. I hope to be a better shot, but I need to spend more time at the range. You have a great channel. Looking foward to watching more vids.
@naorvidal Hi and thanks. I purchased mine from my local gunshop that had one in stock. I have not seen too many of these around so I really cant tell you the average price range, but they were on sale for $530 at my store.
@naorvidal I've had both the 17 and 17C and both have performed well. The 17C I find keeps on target much better since its ported and there is less muzzle rise. Although the 9mm round does not have much recoil, it still has the tendency to have muzzle flip or rise and therefore takes a bit more to keep on target. I find the 17C to be a great all sidearm and the amount of ammunition it holds is a great advantage.
NICE VIDEO. FOR THAT WEAR ON THE SLIDE TRY "MAG & CHROME POLISH BY MOTHERS. ABOUT THREE COATS WILL GIVE IT A REALLY NICE SMOOTH FINISH. WILL WORK FINE ON THE BARREL ALSO. I POLISHED MY G17RTF2 IT LOOKS GREAT BOTH BARREL AND SLIDE.
@stanandjoe0 I really like the Glock 17C, but in most sanctioned competition shooting, they will not allow a ported barrel such as the 17C, but not positive about that. I've never had my hands on a Glock 34 so I couldnt tell you much about it.
@BlackOpsCommand Hi, just happened to come across it while it was on sale. It was almost $100 less at the time of the sale than the regular G17, so I couldn't pass it up. Other than that, no particular reason.
@seven47katana its not for everyone. I have heard a lot of people are comfortable with the grip angle and trigger pull. I guess it just needs a little getting use to.
@MrGlockManDan I was lucky enough to have shot both before purchasing. I've heard so many people mention that the muzzle blast is annoying, but after putting over 1000 rounds through it, I didnt even notice any muzzle blast from the ports. Its a great shooting gun.
I dont know why anyone would buy another gun at a higher price. Must be an ego thing. I dont know anyone who talks bad about a Glock, it will be the next pistol I buy for sure.
Excellent pistol. Happy to see someone going to the 17 for the longer sight radius, a must for competition. 9mm for competition makes a lot of sense, cheap, easy to shoot and available. Too many folk on Youtube watch videos so they can have their mind made up for them. Clearly, you know your stuff and chose wisely based on that. Great vid.
Really nice review, I love glocks they are very well made handguns. I am looking to purchase the glock 26 or 19 soon. I'm torn between the 2, which is why it is taking so long to purchase. LOL. Anyway this is one fine piece of hardware!!! Thanks for sharing
@awomansworld123 Hey, i have the 26, the 19 and now the 17C, for one gun and an all around gun, i really recommend the G19. Can't beat it in size, firepower capacity and overall reliability.
@paulpm Yes, it was brand new. I really liked it because it fit my hand just right and I really liked the way the finger grooves fit. Ergonomics and feel really. Just my opinion though. Thanks for watching.
@lordsting Yes. They are soft and don't hurt it at all. I used AGrip for a long time. Wore them in the rain once and they wore out. Still like it though.
@biguy525 We shot until nearly 6pm (low light condition) and I didnt notice any type of muzzle flash. I really do think that most people think that ported barrels tend to blind the shooter, but from what I gather from personal experience that it is total false.
@SONOFAHGUN I really am starting to get use to the trigger. Once a person gets use to it, I think anyone can become very proficient with these pistols.
that was an excellent review, i want to get a full size glock , but i dont want a 22, so im gonna either get the 17 21 0r 20, been wanting that g20 for a while. Very nice 17c

hi chanderson.
Thank you for the fast response, and for the information.
I will look into my local gunshops.
Also i would like to for you to share your thoughts regards 17 vs. 17c.
In the unit i served for several years, the 17c was my secondary. i was extremely satisfied with it for many years.
I shot the 17 many time before, but im so used to the 17c therefore i really want to stick to it.
wating for your kind response.
