  • Las Vegas, I thought, had 3 cultures. But, it has several more. It is like living in a foreign nation. The old Spanish Patron culture. The Anglo merchant/banker class. The retired anglos. The Professor/Student class. The angry divorced/single women from out of state who have made themselves "protectors" of the indigenous and Patron culture (as if they needed protection), the new Spanish/American class of Americanized folk, the tourist class. The ranches and cowboy class.

  • Yes, you are right. Las Vegas does have Sonic and McDonald's, I was referring to the major full formal dining restaurants like OutBack, Chili's, Appleby's, and so on. Different kind of food and setting to Taco Bell.

  • Santa Fe and Taos are ok. But we have also discovered Las Vegas, New Mexico. The best food in New Mexico is in Las Vegas, a town that does not have national chains, and cherishes local ownership and traditional cooking. Take a look at the You Tube site benboothe to see a video of the Best Food of Northern New Mexico.

The food is spectacular in Las Vegas, NM.

  • @benboothe I appreciate your enthusiasm, and there are indeed some great local-style restaurants here, but where did you get the idea there are no national chains? You mean not counting fast food restaurants? Because we have lots of those. Every town does.

  • las vegas sucks its meant for old ppl i wish i could blow it up

  • Me gustarìa que este video estuviera traducido al español, asi podrìa entenderlo mejor.

  • Heck I grew up as a kid in Las Vegas NM everything to me is a HUGE mystery

  • sorry - didn't see this message til just now (May 8) Anyhow, interesting list of interests you've got there (on your channel). I assume that you spend your time in Hollywood depositing big checks from your screenplays, etc.

  • My problem w/ Las Vegas NM is that they do indeed have clandestine subterranean facillities which utilize synthetic telepathy weapon technology & though they do not secretly torture People 2 death (unlike GP,OR) with subliminal microwaves they do in fact facilitate and enable long-term abductions. It is a nice place.Lived there in the early 80's & graduated Highlands. But I cannot endorse an area that, whether consciously or unconsciously, supports the most militant evil the world has ever known.

  • So what's the problem???

  • You came out fine! LOL

  • Are you sure you're not a resident of the NM State Hospital?

  • why is the fact that it was the most violent city a good thing?

  • Fair enough question. I don't think anyone said it was a good thing. I think I used the word "interesting" or "fascinating." Maybe interesting that it once was and isn't any more - not exactly, anyhow. By the way, whose lap are you dancing on top of? ka-boom!

  • girl on laptop...im on nobodys lap....but thanks for the reply. great video by the way.

  • Rock on Las Vegas, NV!!!!! The second Las Vegas, but very well known city!!!!!!!!!!

  • I trust you mean Las Vegas, NM

  • Also seen in the Parade scene in "Ezy Rider". I stopped there on tour one time and hung around the spooky Castaneda Hotel.

  • I went to LV for the first time two days ago. Rarely do I ever fall in love with towns on the first sight, but I did fall in love with it. Too bad I had to leave. I might be going back at the beginning of August. But that depends.

  • Perhaps the most genuinely "American" town I've ever known about.

  • I was so excited to see this highlight of my hometown of Las Vegas, NM. We are the original "Las Vegas"!!!! Recently, the Oscar-winning film "No Country for Old Men" was filmed in Las Vegas. Also, Toby Keith was filming his new movie in Las Vegas. This is a great place to live!

  • The Vegas area is such a nice place...lived there for most of 95' and the memories are wonderful. Rented an apartment across from Highlands and within easy walk to old town. Had no idea until then that Red Dawn was filmed there. Much love for Las Vegas, New Mexico!

  • Awesome video! I had no idea Las Vegas was the hot spot back in the day.

  • I remember as a kid being confused by the 2 Los Vegas'

  • As a Native of Las Vegas New Mexico, it is Gods Given Country, with its splendor of fresh clean crisp air, scenery of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, Spanish Cultural Heritage, blessed with the respecto of the natives and West Las Vegas High School along with NMHU rocks.
