Dee Snider may have been the technical Star of those Hearings but to me John Denver gave the best testimony cause here is a guy who I'd bet every senator on that panel was a fan of and listened to his music and probably were betting on that he would side with them got up there and tore them each a new asshole what he said was spot on and correct about this country and others Dee Snider said it about Denver in a Movie and I agree anyone who says anything bad about him should get their ass kicked
Tipper Gore is a fat stupid cunt. She could find the cure for cancer tomorrow and I'd still consider her a fat stupid cunt because of what she did in the 80s. "The images frightened my children, they frightened me! I am frightened! Way frightened! The graphic sex and the violence were too much for us to handle," she said.
No, Tipper. Your children loved it but wanted to stay in your good graces by acting scared. Fuck you.
John Denver, Frank Zappa, Dee Snider, Jello Biafra, etc. = LEGENDS.
The PMRC was silenced without a way to intelligently respond to John Denver. He owned em' that day. Thank God for John Dnver, Frank Zappa, Dee Snyder, and all the artists who stood up for what was right.
He hit the nail right on the head here. I can't believe that his wise words, ideas and morals have been hidden behind modern society. We need John Denver right now- we need him and everything he stood for.
John Denver was spot on wasn't he guys..Wow. I guess it has taken the years to see what he really did in these hearings. My God. what has happened to our country and our world. It has gone insane....I agree. The world so needs another John Denver today!!
John Denver is the man. Probably more powerful than Zappa in this hearing: Everyone already perceived Zappa to be this profane guy.... but John Denver comes in as a darling and says about the same thing as Zappa but a LOT nicer haha!
I used to mock his music, but after discovering he did this, I will NEVER do that again. I hope his record sales spikes after this. If not, I'll be buying all his albums.
Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, and John Denver!
This must have sent shockwaves around the world. I wish I had been alive to see it.
Even squeakey clean John Denver told the government to stay out of people's personal lives and focus on their real job - economics and foreign policy, etc.
Now that that's cleared up.....I'm gonna lick the back of a Colorado River toad and get Rocky Mountain High.......
Great presentation John! I gotta think my favorite verse in Rocky Mt. High was " friends around the campfire.. and everybody's hiiiigh.." high on the natural beauty of course, and not from passing around Colorados finest around the campfire!
All the senators saw John Denver and thought that they would have someone on their side against the devils Frank Zappa and Dee Snider. Then John Denver started talking "Oh shit, he's on their side."
That was nothing short of genius! I don't much care for his music, but he was an incredible speaker. It's a shame he's gone...he'd make a great president.

WTF is going on here, is it some kind of sedative called cash being injected into our politicians that causes them to be f-tards
@LgndryThndr Who was talking about Obama? but since you brought it up, I think everybody knows, even African Americans, that Obama has been a sad example of What America needs right now to fix the crap that Bush put us in. I think the only two other reasonable choices would have been R. Paul who is too much of a constitutionalist or Kucinich and I think he would have been the right choice, in hindsight. I really don't want to see another 4 years of Obama folding like a house of cards.
@LgndryThndr Yes, I am implying that. The simple fact of the matter is, Obama ran for president on a platform of change ( not unlike others). The change we all know needs to happen and he had the backing of most of America, But, he is so afraid of being the first black president to catch a bullet, that he is paralyzed by the aspect, so he just folds like a woman. He's a good guy but he's a coward. Anybody can fix this problem, Jesus! he controls the flipping army and we support him, just do it!!
He has emergency action >Learn2government and a few other key abilities but no control.
Congress is your problem :p and they can't get shit done quickly by design.
The only thing the president can do is try to inspire, he's a leader not a ruler.
The real problem here is you have a juvenile understanding of the body politic, one with presumption of swiftness beyond reason or debate. If you want swift course of action I suggest you join a totalitarian rule.
@LgndryThndr You can't even spell you ignorant turd, so don't try to tell me about my country because you don't know shit. get it, got it, good. " the only thing the president can do is inspire" what a pile of bullshit coming from an obvious foreigner who wants to think he knows whats going on outside the cave he lives in. Where the hell was congress when Obama decided to attack lybia ( which I disagree with ) no emergency there! So go weave a new rug for your cave floor.
Uh oh looks like I hit a little close to home there.
By the way it was NATO that ordered the strikes, Obama simply agreed with it.
The moment we have boots on the ground will be another story all together.
I think it's sad that I know more about my countries government than some people on the internet, especially a retard who spouts a bunch of shit and is obsessed with the fucking Looney Toons.
Talk to your congressman, vote on congressman, house majority etc.
@LgndryThndr NATO can order anything they want but if Obama was to say fine, you go ahead and attack Lybia and call me when your done, then absolutely nothing would hapen, because if America doesn't pay for it, nothing gets done. This is not to mention the fact that NATO is nothing more than a room full of bank owned puppets, that only intend to control oil and perpetuate the military industrial complex. What I know about your country is this, if your American foreign aid stops, you starve ,,I,
@LgndryThndr Like I said, if the US doesn't pay for it, it doesn't get done. You still have a spelling problem to go with your arrogant lack of intelligence, You think because you say something is wrong everybody believes you, well that crap might work in the cave dweller community you live in but not in the real world, Try thinking outside the box or your cave. So enjoy your foreign aid while it last because it's coming to an end and you will need to find a new country to get welfare from, ,,I,
@LgndryThndr Your give away was when you said Bush wasn't a war monger, Only an idiot would think that, and now Americas weak president Obama is following in his footsteps because he hasn't enough guts to stand up to republicans, banks and military industrial complex. Also you say congress should be the focus, well my sad little cave dweller, as long as banks and corporations are stuffing their pockets, they can't hear shit, just look at Wisconsin. You think this is theorizing, step out du cave
Corporations happen to be what keep shit together in this country, infact we need them to spread farther globally to stabilize other countries. Giving a country a factory gives it a job, money and logistics.
keep that tinfoil hat on tight and hide in the attic.
@LgndryThndr What a shill you are, Corporations and banks have a place in society but not to the point that they are allowed to be puppet masters to the politicians. This is why I know you are a cave dweller, you are so propagandized by the right wing media circus that you now believe back is white and war is peace. The power afforded to banks and corporations through lobbying donations and corporations are people ruling is what is ruining this country. America needs to cut your foreign aid.
Lobbyists are the equivalent of Jehovahs witnesses and mormons in the political spectrum.
I agree they need to be done away with, but only to the extent that they are the Hare Krishnas at the airport.
And if you honestly Believe that banks and Corporations control everything you're a fucking tool for morons who have been shouting the same Rhetoric for years.
The united states, although staggering will square its shoulders and press on as always.
@LgndryThndr The Republicans are ruled by banks and corporations through direct donations and through the donations of lobbyist they employe. There is nothing wrong with corporations and lobbyist they employe, unless they are allowed to donate to the election funds, put an end to corporate donations and we take a big step toward taking away incentive for politicians to vote in their favor with a negative benefit to the American people at large, Second, your a brainless schill tard puppet ,,I,
@LgndryThndr Ha ha, I knew a mental midget like you was a person that knew few words, well you're going to have to do better than that. I keep giving you facts and all you can do it spew your inside out cave dweller garbage. You have a nice day and step out du cave man.
@imdoubtful When you say "society", that includes individuals...individuals such as John Denver. The USA is made up of people, just like any other country or any other given place on this Earth. Have you met enough people from this country to even make such a statement? Most likely not...It would be more accurate to point out the immaturity of the individuals who try to govern us. Most of the people I've met in my life here can hardly be called immature, in fact they are quite the opposite.
I know John is thrilled Barack Obama is president but I don't think he's happy with today's republican party largely because of all the hate and indifference in that party.
As much of a fan of Zappa as I am and as much as I thought his testimony was on point and subversively hilarious....Denver's is the one the drove it home....I really wish I coulda heard those pompous self-important Senators try to rebutt this
Now a days we have some, not all, sensitive-wise-intelligent-spiritually evolved people in music than the puppets that supposedly "govern us". It is the call of the natural need of rebellion against that who is unworthy of ruling, that who's aim is to get as much profit for themselves disguised in religious or monetary system masks. Maybe we know in a way that the system we live in has gone into unnatural or selfish ways. Rebellion has a novel cause when it is not selfish.
Three of contemporary music's best minds told them. But it's still an issue. The government ought to just stay out of the entertainment business altogether.
loved his description of when his best, his bessst friends introduced him to smoking his first cock...i mean joint, under the rocky mountain starlit skies °__°
jk
nah, real good to see how they all see this "sure thing" go byebye right in front of their eyes. very well spoken John!
John Denver FTW! He and Zappa and Snider put across some very poinient and constructive arguments, it's too bad that they fell on deaf ears. I still grudge the parental advisory warning on my music, I'd hate to think what it would be like with a rating system. Frank Zappa's idea of printing the lyrics still seems like the best solution.
This hole thing back fired so much the more labels they put on the more it sold. I mean they were selling t- shrts, hats ect ect. Tipper Gore had noting else to do but to try to mess things up but like I said it back fired on her ha ha.
@gibsongold1970 Most of the people in that room were actually Republicans. I'm a democrat too, but you really should check the senators party records before making a claim like that.
@parkerquinlan44561 It was purely a bi-partisan committee. I just now checked. 8 Democrats, 8 Republicans. The committee chair however was indeed a Republican. Take a look!
@gibsongold1970 I especially agree with your last statement!
But to be fair, it's not just Democrats that are trying to "run everybody's lives"; it's Republicans as well--more so even when it comes to moral issues. In the past I have voted for far more Republicans than Democrats, but it seems to me like the one good thing about Democrats is that they are LIBERAL (i.e. neutral) on moral issues and typically don't try to force their moral preferences on people through legislation. Rock on!
I think Dee Snider had the most impact personally, they expected him to be just another "dumb metalhead". They realized that he was not stupid and had a great argument, it is all in the eye of the beholder. John Denver shocked the hell out of them when he stated the same basic ideas. I mean come on, if John "Sunshine On My Shoulders" Denver is outraged by the pmrc then obviously what they were doing was wrong. R.I.P. John and Frank.
@6Johnny6Bills6 I agree that Snider was effective, but he himself said that Denver was the most effective. He even went as far as to say that if anyone ever made fun of Denver in his presence that he would personally kick their ass!
Come on now...When John Denver stands up and speaks out against you.....you might want to take that as a hint you are fuck'n up!....hint, hint pmrc When you are pissing off John Denver you are screwing up!
They never expected John Denver to sit before them and put them all in their place. John Denver was an amazing man. How could they ever argue with such a humble man...
Out of all of the artist hearings, this speech must have been the most effective. Zappa and Sinder's speech's were perhaps too outraged and jeering (although for fair reason) but this eloquent and clear debunking by John Denver addressed the adults as adults even when they sought to degrade themselves with these ridiculous issues.
... and he said years before what I still believe: Metal (or any other kind of youth culture) is not responsible for bad things in the world, but just the outcome (or, as he states "symptom"). A child that has fragile elements in its life (bullies at school, violent parents, whatever) will be drawn to dark music - not the other way around. But hey, its easier to blame music (or movies, video games, ice cream, whatever) than having a close look at what WE do wrong, right? Weak minds do rule us...
God bless John Denver. When a good old country boy stands against something like this, then you know there is something wrong.
The PMRC was basically an attack against heavy metal, but with John Denver standing against it, the people begin to realize it is an attack against the Constitution.
RIP John Denver,We know you've taken them Country Roads home, but we won't forget that you stood up for our generations music, stories,Idea's,& our Freedom..Thank you..
im not into jon denver music at all,but he does have them classic songs, and after watching this is twice the man than anybody in that room, and now after his so srry passing away im a jon denver fan-y cant people get it like he did,its just expression in a song-maybe or government should have been watchin the ritch assholes then that were takin all r money instead of this,i hang my head sometimes at this so called great country we live in-rest in peace jon
John Denver is totally right!!! What a wonderful human being he was. Too bad he was taken for granted and totally forgotten. I never see anything on the Biography Channel or any programs he did on TV anymore. Only on You Tube do we have people that care about him. That's so sad. Thanks so much for keeping his memory alive:)
I think hearing HIM at the PMRC hearings was more shocking and at the same time interesting then ANY of the other artists. Like honestly WTF songs has he written that would get a sticker on it??? and he's against it? RIGHT ON
John Denver's facepalm at 6:00 is a beautiful thing to behold.

Obama thanked him for this and his council on the matter.
P.S. Obama isn't helping Joplin missouri, Obama doesn't care about white people HUE HUE HUE
LgndryThndr 8 months ago
@LgndryThndr Who was talking about Obama? but since you brought it up, I think everybody knows, even African Americans, that Obama has been a sad example of What America needs right now to fix the crap that Bush put us in. I think the only two other reasonable choices would have been R. Paul who is too much of a constitutionalist or Kucinich and I think he would have been the right choice, in hindsight. I really don't want to see another 4 years of Obama folding like a house of cards.

>Implying Bush or Obama has any control over economic fluctuation or foreign discourse.
>Implying any one would do anything any differently.
>Implying congress shouldn't be your focus.
LgndryThndr 8 months ago
@LgndryThndr Yes, I am implying that. The simple fact of the matter is, Obama ran for president on a platform of change ( not unlike others). The change we all know needs to happen and he had the backing of most of America, But, he is so afraid of being the first black president to catch a bullet, that he is paralyzed by the aspect, so he just folds like a woman. He's a good guy but he's a coward. Anybody can fix this problem, Jesus! he controls the flipping army and we support him, just do it!!
daveusaz1218 8 months ago
@daveusaz1218
LgndryThndr 8 months ago
@LgndryThndr You can't even spell you ignorant turd, so don't try to tell me about my country because you don't know shit. get it, got it, good. " the only thing the president can do is inspire" what a pile of bullshit coming from an obvious foreigner who wants to think he knows whats going on outside the cave he lives in. Where the hell was congress when Obama decided to attack lybia ( which I disagree with ) no emergency there! So go weave a new rug for your cave floor.

@daveusaz1218
LgndryThndr 8 months ago
@LgndryThndr NATO can order anything they want but if Obama was to say fine, you go ahead and attack Lybia and call me when your done, then absolutely nothing would hapen, because if America doesn't pay for it, nothing gets done. This is not to mention the fact that NATO is nothing more than a room full of bank owned puppets, that only intend to control oil and perpetuate the military industrial complex. What I know about your country is this, if your American foreign aid stops, you starve ,,I,
daveusaz1218 8 months ago
@daveusaz1218
I don't know if you notice but the bulk of NATO happens to be US.
The othe shit you posted is full retard, go take your fucking conspiracy bullshit else where manchild.
LgndryThndr 8 months ago
@LgndryThndr Like I said, if the US doesn't pay for it, it doesn't get done. You still have a spelling problem to go with your arrogant lack of intelligence, You think because you say something is wrong everybody believes you, well that crap might work in the cave dweller community you live in but not in the real world, Try thinking outside the box or your cave. So enjoy your foreign aid while it last because it's coming to an end and you will need to find a new country to get welfare from, ,,I,

Also you say congress should be the focus, well my sad little cave dweller, as long as banks and corporations are stuffing their pockets, they can't hear shit, just look at Wisconsin. You think this is theorizing, step out du cave
daveusaz1218 8 months ago
@daveusaz1218
COOL STORY BRO!
Corporations happen to be what keep shit together in this country, infact we need them to spread farther globally to stabilize other countries. Giving a country a factory gives it a job, money and logistics.
keep that tinfoil hat on tight and hide in the attic.
LgndryThndr 8 months ago
@LgndryThndr What a shill you are, Corporations and banks have a place in society but not to the point that they are allowed to be puppet masters to the politicians. This is why I know you are a cave dweller, you are so propagandized by the right wing media circus that you now believe back is white and war is peace. The power afforded to banks and corporations through lobbying donations and corporations are people ruling is what is ruining this country. America needs to cut your foreign aid.
daveusaz1218 8 months ago
@daveusaz1218
You're shitting me right?
Lobbyists are the equivalent of Jehovahs witnesses and mormons in the political spectrum.
I agree they need to be done away with, but only to the extent that they are the Hare Krishnas at the airport.
And if you honestly Believe that banks and Corporations control everything you're a fucking tool for morons who have been shouting the same Rhetoric for years.
The united states, although staggering will square its shoulders and press on as always.
LgndryThndr 8 months ago
@LgndryThndr The Republicans are ruled by banks and corporations through direct donations and through the donations of lobbyist they employe. There is nothing wrong with corporations and lobbyist they employe, unless they are allowed to donate to the election funds, put an end to corporate donations and we take a big step toward taking away incentive for politicians to vote in their favor with a negative benefit to the American people at large, Second, your a brainless schill tard puppet ,,I,

@gibsongold1970 Most of the people in that room were actually Republicans. I'm a democrat too, but you really should check the senators party records before making a claim like that.
parkerquinlan44561 1 year ago
@parkerquinlan44561 It was purely a bi-partisan committee. I just now checked. 8 Democrats, 8 Republicans. The committee chair however was indeed a Republican. Take a look!
jdheinold 1 year ago

6Johnny6Bills6 1 year ago 7
@6Johnny6Bills6 I agree that Snider was effective, but he himself said that Denver was the most effective. He even went as far as to say that if anyone ever made fun of Denver in his presence that he would personally kick their ass!

Leodooom 1 year ago
God bless John Denver. When a good old country boy stands against something like this, then you know there is something wrong.
The PMRC was basically an attack against heavy metal, but with John Denver standing against it, the people begin to realize it is an attack against the Constitution.
