The only time they go slower than possible is to spawn extra water bubbles as far as I can see. Popping enough water bubbles is the trigger to spawn the warp umbrellas.
Mmm... maybe I just need to cue up the Live Commentary that was recorded for this in order to understand, but I'm really confused by a few of the choices made; namely I swear that in 92 it looks like they deliberately waste time -and- avoid grabbing a warp.
...I'm sure they've got their reasons and this is still a blast to watch anyway but it somehow seems really sub-optimal, which is what I expect from a TAS.
Me and my brother used to play this when we were kids, we would fight over the fruits and vege's, lol. Good times.

That'd probably explain it. I haven't had the fortune to be able to get the Happy End myself on the game, so I'm not sure what the requirements are.
