I listened to this the day I went off to a camp with the Church, I met a beautiful girl there who I met last year as well, I always play this now I'm at home. I went off camping on Wednesday, so basically it always reminds me of her.
I am glad so many others think this is a great song. One of the best blues tunes ever, IMHO. I am sad that I let this tune go after taking so long to learn it, maybe I will give it another go....
This is fantastic. I've been a very big fan of the blues for almost 60 years, but I had never heard of Blind Blake. I've listened to a LOT of Jimmy Reed, Little Walter, Muddy, et al, but I find that going back to the "roots" can be just as enjoyable.
@theoriginalbadbob but the artists youve listed are more rooted in the mississippi style. thats what i listened to first too, but i now consider blind blake and blind willie mctell the greatest blues musicians to pick up guitars and sing. but obviously, thats personal preference. i like the piedmont style

...I met a girl I couldn't get her off my mind
she passed me up, said she didn't like my kind
I'm scared to bother around her house at night
she's got a police dog craving for a fight
His name is Rambler, when he gets a chance
he leaves his mark on everybody's pants
I guess I'll travel, I guess I'll let her be
before she sinks her police dog on me

Blakes technique is polished and effortless . His sounding improvisations attracted imitators , but admitted no equals .
