It's not worth paying for their medical expenses for years to come when a one off payment to bury them is quite sufficient. I was driving home from the pub (along the pavement) & knocked down & killed my next door neighbors wife. I paid for her funeral & that was the end of that. No fuss, no expensive medical bills. Just a damaged front bumper.
