I had heard about this movie but never watched until it aired on TV. Totally not what I had expected (I imagined a sort of a comedy), and so very pleasantly surprised by its simplicity of emotions. The official trailer is really bad - yours really captures the true meaning of the film.
Watching this movie was the closest I've come to crying in a film (still haven't ever cried though). It was just so bittersweet and beautiful, and the realistic depiction of loneliness really hit home.
Why this doesn't work. If you knew that Lost in Translation was a solemnly realistic relationship story to the extent that it is, before viewing it. It would not have the same impact on you. The film works the way it does because of the subtle progression it has. You served up the whole dosage in this trailer. it kinda captures some of the mood, but its missing the little details that compose it into the masterpiece that it is.
However, I am a huge fan of the film & appreciate your efforts.
i love this movie, and i like the idea of how they set the story about 2 lonely souls, wandering in a city populated by millions of people, when you think you can never get lonely there, i just love it, and i love scarlett jo woot

Such an everyday story about FREINDSHIP ... shared some tears during the drama parts and some at the comedy elements ... not to talk about the romantic side ... Seeing this picture no1 will be bored to death...well I wasn't . Nice to see the pictures trailer -)
@0:20 the greatest moment meeting in the Park Hyatt bar & Steakhouse. :D I sat there across from Bill Murray's seat about a year after the film was made.
This is a great trailer but I think the original trailer was done that way on purpose, to confuse the audience as to how the movie ends. Throughout the whole movie I was expecting them to have sex because their friendship was lost in translation.
Great stuff dude :). And though Sometimes is a pretty strong song in the film, this tune was important in the film too, and worked great in this trailer.
I wish I knew why some of us love this film and so many others hate it.
A person's opinion of it really defines them as a person to me, and I wish it didnt, because it's made me just too picky when it comes to women. :p :/
"The more you know who you are and want you want, the less things upset you". That probably has a lot to do with it.
Forgive me for being critical (everyone else loved the trailer) ... it's interesting, but technically it's not that good. The music doesn't match towards the end (I'd have started with Ikebana and moved to something like Just Like Honey or Sometimes), and the voiceover is sometimes just a bit too hard to hear. Otherwise, interesting.
Hey, everybody's entitled to their opinion. I actually did this for an editing project in uni a year and a half ago, the idea was to make a trailer for a film that was being re-released in the cinemas; reminding loyal fans what they loved about the film in the first place while not giving too much away for those who still haven't seen it.
you made this in sophomore year? VERY well done! i think the music choice could've been a little bit better... My Bloody Valentinte's "Sometimes" would've been cool... but otherwise this is fantastic.
that was pretty cool. i think there are a few things that can be improved on. The music could have been something more dramatic, building and helping draw the viewer, this was kinda just stagnant throughout. there were a few scenes that seemed irrevalent for that particular moment also. Best part of the trailer was the last 20 seconds though, they were very impressive. Good job.
That could really use some work. The copy (text) was actually more inane than what you get in real trailers. Especially for a film like this, it is always better to assume that your audience is not stupid. And you didn't match the font with the real one. Try playing with the kerning, tracking, horizontal/verticle scale, and stroke effects in photoshop.
I expected this to be like most fan-made trailers (terrible), but when you mentioned its "quiet beauty," I knew there was hope. I believe you have succeeded in hitting that tone. Thanks for making it!

This was the most 'human' film I've ever seen. I don't think any film has ever grasped the concept of loneliness quite like this one has.
It's a great film about friendship. I don't even remember what friendship feels like.

Can we get a clip with the score when scarlett is sitting on the window sill looking out over the city?? Lovely moment.
