(I am on my partners account as she is the technical one)
I was involved in this project through my stepdad's business. I personally made thousands of the little rivets that holds the whole thing together.....it was crazy boring work sat in front of lathe for HOURS but as small as my part was in all this I still have an enormous amount of pride that something that I created with my own hands helped to preserve this priceless relic of a bygone era.
I was only a teen at the time and as a reward I was given the chance to sit in the cockpit of the Harrier they had (still have?) there at the time and WOW did I feel tiny in that thing!! :)
@PeachesPoppy I was only a teen at the time and I remember the chap who was there to meet me and my stepfather let me sit in the cockpit of the Harrier that they had there at the time (maybe they still do?) But for a boy with a passion for all things that fly I was in heaven.....
Great video as ever Andy as ever, and rather pertaining to my latest project , managed to get to Brooklands recently ( just after Concorde was turned around ) had a great day its a funny thing but so much around the site I've seen on your excellent films
Hello Andy, I found this very interesting as my Dad was Crew in a Wimpy during the war. It has made me want to visit Brooklands even more now that I know that there is one there to see.
