You can still modify stuff on the mac. It's the same program with the same save files and parameters.

They programmed the time protection in a messed up way. Generally you have to set it back.

For example, it expired Nov 5. But when December came around, you could play it up to the 4th.

In the Mac version, there is a nice 'Parameters' panel, which, I guess, allows the same without opening the things with Notepad (or TextEdit of course.)
