If you listen to nasa's "planitary protection officer", then it is simply a red algae that somehow was ejected out of the oceans around india, into the atmisphere, and somehow had it's entire DNA structure ripped out of it, while still maintaining the shape of a basic life form.

That theory is pretty pretentious. Assuming that humans are the dominant life form in this universe is ridiculous at best, and believing that we are morally obligated to transplant life elsewhere is just absurd. For whatever reason, we inhabit this planet, and, as far as we can tell, nowhere else. Whatever life exists out there now will be far better off without human interference. And really, how are we in charge of continuing life? That's not something for us to control.

Yes, but religion helps people feel justified in their killing (God/Allah says you are evil, so I will kill you in his name, etc). Science provides tools. You cannot compare killing of animals to killing of another human being. We don't eat each other! Only psychopaths would kill another person, or a sane person in rage that someone killed a loved one or injured them. Human beings should not kill one another. We should be helping one another out!

I think stating that life came from space is like a scientific way of saying there is a God. Its like insinuating that just because we currently dont understand it. It has to be some off worldly explanation. Be it aliens or a God...

If life is transferred like this, through meteors etc, and that not all life is similar. Wouldnt it be more reasonable to have several different basic forms of life on earth instead of just one? DNA and Silicon based for example?
