I think Bruce Wayne is now a vampire. Hence, Batman Reborn. TRULY. Sorry just some wild speculation. Also, Barbara becomes very maternal over Damian and lets him touch her boobies.
Sex pistols?I preferred The Misfits. More so when Graves was the front man. Their music is exactly in tune with my angst abt society and stuck up chicks.
not until 6 years ago i got back to comics. It began with Warren Ellis's Iron Man and then Morrison's All Star Superman. Strange. I didn't even know these guys if not for those comics. Its hard to explain. It feels like it was put in my direction to bring me back. Maybe my guardian angel was saying i didn't know what i was missing and this would contribute to my happiness.
I got into comics in '87 and left comics for good in the 90s. It was all DC stuff for me. Just the post crisis superman books and giffen's JL. Nothin else. The 90s came, as far i'm concerned, everything turned to shit. I found the motives for dialouge and plots redundant and carried no weight. Didn't see the bother. Went back to playing d&d. That shit made more sense.
@DamianRavenblood I got out a bit later. I was actually a huge fan of Post-Crisis Superman, but I don't think it holds up today. Giffen's JL is still great!
The Image boom/crash and the Lobdell X-men destroyed superheroes for me, and I turned to Concrete, Madman, Strangers in Paradise, later American Splendor. What brought me back in was (coincidence?) Grant Morrison's JLA.
Mid-90s marvel/DC is some of the lowest form of entertainment on the earth.
i didn't leave totally. I have to this own to this embarrassing fact. I collected Marvel's Quasar in the 90s. YIKES!!!! Quasar and infinity gauntlet. But thats it...after gauntlet i left. I still have a very soft spot for the character actually. Its a childhood thing ...standards have no bearing. Hey Quasar fought a Watcher once and won. Yep. Wendell Vaughn can kick evil Adam Warlock's ASS!!!! BRING 'EM BACK YOU CHICKEN SHIT MARVEL CUNTS!!!!!!
The review for Hellblazer deserved another watch and it (quite honestly) is our best review of a weekly by far! It probably helped that the book was a GREAT read. Reading 'mainstream/Bendis' books only proves that it's much better and MORE WORTHWHILE to look at the REAL stuff! (,.. true believers :D)
Since we started the Weeklies, I know more than ever that there are a plethora of comics out there that I would never have been exposed to without the show. Jonah Hex & Hellblazer are IN; Nemesis & Captain America are OUT, I'm sad to say.
I followed Millar and Brubaker through many mediocre years, hoping they would return to former glory, but alas, I have to move on to better things. Maybe one day I'll return, but for now, I'm loyal to Peter Milligan, Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti.
I love it!!! Conversational and informative and the opinions about Brave and the Bold I generally agree with... Kurt is right in some ways, the art isn't 80's... it's just bad. :P
I'm going to have read that issue of Hellblazer now!!!
I like picking up comics and reading them, and books like Guardians of the Galaxy are books I really hate because the reader gets very confused when they don't know what's going on, especially when it's time travel. However, Zatanna and Wonder Woman in the same book? Sick!
Hellblazer is one of my favorite books. John Constantine is one of my favorite characters from the DC universe. The last Hellblazer OGN with Jock on art was good.
I will have to respectably disagree with your guys' view on Guardians of the Galaxy. Compared to other marvel team books, this was the second tier team at Marvel; behind Agent of Atlas. I had been reading whole cosmic line since Annihilation series, and it is really good;but, you guys are right, I love the concepts, and it is definitely for people like me. Good reviews, guys, like always.
@TaishoReno For what I meant to say about the second tier team book, it has everything that team books should have: action, plot, humor, and characterizations--unlike a Bendis' book. I think you guys should read the earlier issues, but your opinions are duly noted.
@TaishoReno I'm if we read the earlier issues it would have read a lot better, but for me, I'm not happy with Abnett and Lanning's track record. I really didn't like their Legion stuff.
@coydog0 Legion of Super Heroes has always been in a disarray, due to it numerous reboots, right? The only Legion story that i had read was Final Crisis: Crisis of Three Worlds, which was well-done. Do you have any suggestive stories? I'll take your word on their track record, but I really have not read any pre-Marvel stories. Rumors has it that Leob will take over Marvel cosmic line next year, which I hope not. I think Michelle would like War of Kings for its political elements alone.
@TaishoReno I'm a huge fan of the Silver Age Legion stories that are reprinted in the DC Archives volumes. Mostly written by Ed Hamilton, Jerry Seigel and a 13-year-old Jim Shooter. Those stories are magical. However, if you don't like Silver Age stuff, I recommend that Paul Levitz run from the 80s. If you want to narrow that down, start with the Baxter-paper series that (re)started at #1 in 1984 that had GREAT art by Keith Giffen, Steve Lightle and Greg LaRocque.
Vampire because a certain generation of waynes practiced the occult right??

@mittenexpress Yeah, the 80s was a great period for comics art! (Frank Miller, Alan Davis, Michael Golden, Brian Bolland, Jim Aparo etc.)
