Its because not enough people were watching. They just didnt give it time for people to notice it. Thats why now its a cult classic cuz it got its fans after it was canceled.

If Nickelodeon were to give up the production rights, there's the fair possibility that Invader Zim could return with new episodes.

I may be wrong, but I don't recall Jhonen Vasquez ever saying he didn't want to work on the Invader Zim series, just that he didn't want to work with Nickelodeon on the Invader Zim series.

But of course the catch-22 is Nickelodeon is still making bread off the Invader Zim merchandise & advertisements alone.

To me, this is just a sad reminder of what Nick has become. They've cancelled the majority of their good shows (regardless of their popularity) for most likely ridiculous reasons, a couple of examples being Invader Zim and Danny Phantom. After that, the quality of their shows dramatically declined to the crappy cartoons that they have today. With the exception of Spongebob, iCarly, and a couple others, the rest of Nick's current shows are complete garbage.

That seem unlikely, because in the valentine's day episode, Dib said, "I heard a long time ago they used to hand out cards on valentines day." What I'm asking is if you made that up or not, because I doubt JCV would give a definite year any of his works are supposed to be set. The lack of definite time placement makes JTHM, IZ, IFS, Squee, ect. sort of timeless, and relatable to any generation. Plus, it just seems as though IZ is set way farther into the future from the 90s than just 10 years, somehow.
