I went through mcrd san diego, ended up in 1-9 s.e. asia. 0351 ata. I am proud to have served. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. finished up in 1st recon bn. If your thinking about joining do it. it will change your life.
I was Army in the 80s and I am proud that I served and served with some of the best. My AIT training involved some Marines and I allways watched and admired the dedication of there being, very proud! And should be! I am proud of all of our soldiers and I thank them all for being there for me. The Continental Marines were disbanded in 1783. The US Marines were not established until 1798. For 15 years, there were NO Marines guarding the US.

When I got to Parris Island, I was expecting a male DI, but we got a female DI. I was freaked out! It never crossed my mind in a billion years that a male recruit would cross paths with a female DI, so I was freaked out whenever I had interaction with a female DI.

As shown by real combat the Marine system doesn't allow for long range shots that are any better. They have just as much trouble at 500m and up as soldiers. So the USMC "legit" course isn't the best thing ever.

I went through mcrd san diego, ended up in 1-9 s.e. asia. 0351 ata. I am proud to have served. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. finished up in 1st recon bn. If your thinking about joining do it. it will change your life.

I was Army in the 80s and I am proud that I served and served with some of the best. My AIT training involved some Marines and I allways watched and admired the dedication of there being, very proud! And should be! I am proud of all of our soldiers and I thank them all for being there for me. Thank you for having my back while I sleep at night and work my job all day, as I know I am safe and my entire country is in great hands.

It is false to claim the Marines are the most of all the armed services. The American Revolution began 7 months before the Continental Marines were organized. The Continental Army was established 5 months before the Continental Marine Corps. The Soldiers who formed the Army fought a number of battles before the Marines came into being. The Continental Marines were disbanded in 1783. The US Marines were not established until 1798. For 15 years, there were NO Marines guarding the US.

@exarmydoc I don't know where you get your information from but it is not right. The Marine Corps' birthday is November 10th 1775 and it will always be that date. In fact the men who were named Marines in 1775 were fighting months before that date on ships as armed men protecting the crew from pirate raids. They were the men who earned the title of Marine. To argue that one branch is better then the others is an argument that has been going on longer then anyone can remember, its pathetic...

@TheKeySeries The assertion was that the Marines are the most ancient of this country's armed forces. That is not true. The Continental Army was established 5 months before the Continental Marines. The troops who formed the Continental Army were fighting 7 months before the Continental Marines. Most merchant ships before the establishment of the United States did not have Marines in their crews. Their protection against pirates was whatever armament they carried.

Ok, here it is... If you want to categorize the armed services into their most effective operational readiness (special forces exempt, I'll explain them later), it would look something like this:
Navy - 1. Secure waterways for effective naval transport of supplies and personnel. 2. Provide long range air and missile support for ground troops.
Air Force - The only armed service where their main objective is support. They provide intel and support for ground troops. Only 5% of their total force

Btw, to all of you arguing about which branch is better and all this, they all help EACH OTHER. The Navy and Air Force help out the Marines and Army when they in some deep crap in the middle of a fire fight firing blind cause they cant see the enemy. Army and Marines are generally in the most danger because they're on the front lines, but that doesnt make them better because their are also Air Force and Navy personnel on the front lines.

When I got to Parris Island, I was expecting a male DI, but we got a female DI. I was freaked out! It never crossed my mind in a billion years that a male recruit would cross paths with a female DI, so I was freaked out whenever I had interaction with a female DI.

I served in the Marines for 5 years and it was one of the best times of my life. My father-in-law though is a hippie and hates the military, and yet he never served. He thinks he knows what it's like but doesn't have a damn clue. I think I kinda piss him off when I sport my USMC everywhere. But I think it's funny and I'm proud of it.

Hubby shipped today, and it was the hardest goodbye ever. But there's no greater feeling in the world knowing someone you love is fighting for you and you're country. It almost compares to the feeling of them coming home to you, and knowing they just achieved a great accomplishment. Gosh i just love being the girlfriend to a Marine! USMC<3

@RGM79GM1 You can zero your AR-15 at 36 yards to hit targets at 500. You should be able to google printable BZO targets. M14 fires a different round so idk but would assume as much because Marines fired it at the same ranges we fire the M16A4 at now.

it is funny that at its basis the USAMU was formed to RAISE us army marks. standards and still hasnt done it
once you establish a legit 200,300, 500 yard course for the rifle aside from that pussy shit you people call rifle qual.....you will never be on the same level as Marines.
Hi scores on our system go a long way, while an army expert doesnt mean shit, since half of the army has the same badge

@USMCM249gunner Yeah cause giving them extra training and training out to 600m certainly doesn't increase a person's skill.
As shown by real combat the Marine system doesn't allow for long range shots that are any better. They have just as much trouble at 500m and up as soldiers. So the USMC "legit" course isn't the best thing ever.
Half the Army has the same badge? Where are you getting this from?
