You are Incredible..thank you..this works .. I tried on spheres.. Your project files i cant Open...I have max 11 and you new tutorials are i think max 12 try saving in old version please.......
@3dsMaxHowTos Just like rifleman0007 I am also curious how to make such constraints. With the current setup I can't really rig a bike chain or a tank thread. Any pointers?
Yes, but you would use a different technique for that, one that would use Path Constraints.
Funny you should mention it though, because I have this very same topic on my list for an upcoming video. I'm currently working on another set, but I'll get to that one as soon as I can.
@3dsMaxHowTos Hey, thank you very much for your videos! Never regretted clicking on that "subscribe" button as you always have something useful to show!

thanks mate, i was doing a similar project like this but without the spline...SO much harder and complicated without producing the outcome i wanted. thanks very much
there are many tutorials on the net (finding good ones is always tricky) but if you can spare a few dollars, I believe CG Academy have a couple of good DVDs.
@3dsMaxHowTos Very nice video! Could you please tell me, how to keep a constant distance between helpers so that they dont stretch the geometry? Thank you.
@rifleman0007 Actually, the geometry doesn't get stretched, the spline does. This is by design though. If the geometry really stretched, the chains would be offset from one another and that wouldn't be good.
If you're thinking of contraining the chains along a spine (like tank treads) then the technique would be different. I have an upcoming movie in the works for that.
OMG DAMN I LOVE IT!!!!!! AUTODESK FOREVER

@umar6419 well, I usually model my own stuff, and I've also modeled the chains yesterday just to try this out :)
MAX 2012 allows one to save projects to native 2012 format and the older max 2010/11 formats, however he might have not used that feature

@QUATR00 whatever i am not interested in modeling... .. to learn a script we have no time to model a good thing first... so...

@umar6419 This chain takes like maybe two minutes, actually xD

@QUATR00 and i did all the stuff that he teaches in 2 mins..maybe you wasted 4 mins doing this stuff... LOL
