I've loaded as many as 72 rubber bands before, but it could probably hold more. Rubber bands are loaded in mutiples of 12, since it has twelve barrels. The more rubber bands loaded onto the mechanism, the more stress on the parts. Too many rubber bands might damage the parts. Since this gun is a one-of-a-kind prototype, I have avoided overloading it since I don't want to damage it.
For a demonstration of loading as well as firing, take a look at "In-depth Discussion and Demo: RotaryMek-12X Rubber Band Gun." It's pretty long-winded but gives a lot of insight into how the mechanism works.
@TheNIKOfan250 I'm hoping to be able to work out a manufacturing process for guns similar to this one so I can make and sell them in the future. There will be a lot of labor involved if I'm making them myself, so the price will likely be closer to what people have paid for the now classic 144 shot escapement type gatling gun rbgs. If I ever get to the point of having a large toy manufacturer mass produce a gun with a similar mechanism, then it may be available for a lower price.
@wolfvonstk69 At the moment, there are no publicly available plans. The gun in the video is actually a one-of-a-kind prototype built about nine years ago. If I remember correctly, the only on-paper plans I made got cut up to use as templates for cutting wood. Presently, I am developing and adapting the design for commercial production and, since I am also a big supporter of do-it-yourselfers, I will try to make a some sort of plans available in the future for folks who want to make their own.
This video really showcases how well built it is! The brass and copper fittings are simply amazing. Additionally, i never knew that plywood could possibly look so good. A work of art, i might say!
Thanks for the compliments! The brass is actually just the stock brass square tubing from K and S Engineering that is available in most hobby shops in the US. The copper is from some plumbing pipe from a reclaimed- building-supply store. I enjoy working with high quality Baltic birch plywood, which is what was used in this prototype, which is obtained from a high-end wood working supply shop. Hobby shop has fine Birch model aircraft plywood, used in the Magmek-18 prototype.
