  • I imagined this happened to me except I don't have a garage.

  • If Joaquin never came, I would've lost my life. I can never tell him 'Thank you' enough for what he did. He was so brave to come look for me. For once I'm glad he didn't listen to the fireman. He said the movie 'LADDER 49' taught him how to do it.

  • I was still in the shed when Joaquin Phoenix came. The fireman told him to stay out of the way and he said "Not while one of my fans needs me". He couldn't open the shed door because it was stuck. Then the fireman chopped it open and Joaquin ran in to find me. My eyes were closed, my body was limp, there was spit around my mouth that smeared my lipstick. I looked like a corpse.

  • I imagined this thing happened to me 2 years ago and I was a young girl or woman and called Emily. I was 24 almost 25 and my brother Andrew was visiting whose 2 years younger than me. I went in the shed since we have no garage It caught fire and got trapped inside . The wind blew shut and it was stuck. I pounded on the door screaming "Let me out!" but no one heard me. Joaquin Phoenix and some of his buddies in Ladder 49 came to help.

  • My daughter Elaina aka Emily, imagined that 2 years ago when she was only 24, she locked herself inside our shed by accident and it caught fire (we don't have a garage). then she got trapped herself and Joaquin Phoenix, whom she's in love with, came help along with some guys he acted in Ladder 49 with. He just went to help when the fireman told him not to. He said "Not while one of my fans needs me"

  • my name is stephanie i also have a sister named andrea i bowl like that hahaha

  • What on EARTH is she doing???? Get outside and call for help instead of attempting to put out the fire yourself.

  • where did you mlive when that hapened

  • The cop probably got a medal for that.

  • he could hit the little girl by accident

  • the hell is the cop thinking....no gear...no scba...no brains

  • he didn't care about himself all he wanted was to save the little girl!! if he wouldn't have done that she would be dead!!!

  • You can always count on a officer of the law to save your life and sad that people have to kill them because they dont want to be caught being stupid and having drugs......

  • What took the FD so long???????? a cop a neighbor everyone else shows up then the FD shows up and a station wagon is that what you call FD? sheesh the 90's sucked

  • *watching the cop run into the burning building* And this is why the FD and EMT's call the police officers blue canaries...

  • Holy "Beep".

  • Couldnt he cop just hit the garage door with his car?

  • If you can prove it, he could.

  • He could have but he didn't know where she was. He could have hit her and then what would be the point of trying to save her.

  • Im just gonna say WOW

  • people do mistakes sometimes . . . .

  • Dammm

  • That poor girl didn't deserve to go through all that trauma. Hopefully it doesn't leave lasting scars in her mind.

  • My question is why they hell are just random people runnin in to the house that does nothin but cause more of a problem

  • People may think.

Ok its not that much smoke, just run threw the house and get her, but I know from experience that even a small amount of somke make doing anything impossible

I left a bot of rice on the stove and went into a different room and the pot of rice was smoking like crazy, I right away when to get the pot and put in the the sink, and i was SHOCKED that I could not even get the pot, I could not breath and there was so little smoke, imaging how hard it is with this much smoke

  • HisImangination, this is NOT fake! I work for this department, and know the Sergeant Baki and the family. Also, why don't you run into a burning, smoke filled house, and see if you can remember the garage door disengage... Think before you speak.

  • I agree with you. I'm sure there is only one thing going through their minds when they enter a burning building and thats to get everbody out safety and in a timely matter..They are not gonna waste time trying to find a stupid garage door release. He should think before he speaks

  • Totally agree with you! =) Firemedic584.

  • The reason the Garage door closed was because the heat from the smoke particles & mainly the heat from the fire generated some sorta energy impulse that set up the completion of the electrical circuit, triggering the signal for the automatic door to close.

  • She tries to smother the fire and then spreads it? Panic attack = stupidity apparently.

  • same as any other human being. its not stupidity, its because shes not trained. she doesnt know what to do.

  • By the way. The police and neighbor are dumb. Garage doors have a disengage release on them and the door will lift right up. That would have saved valuable time. You might want to give that a try next time.

  • This is FAKE. It is amazing what people will do for money.

  • They are reinacting it!

  • It's called a RE-ENACTMENT! And you are called an arrogant moron.

  • Its reenactment moron maybe if ya watched the show in the 90's perhaps you would know that better yet if ya stayed in school in the 90's you would know that

  • Can't believe she opened the door!

  • because her mom was damn as hell

  • Gas gas for Andrea to ask to help.

  • That is why automatic doors have track releases on them...pull the red handle and open the door.

  • Great Poilceman!

  • Get a bucket?

Why not just get some cloth wet?

Well. I suppose you don't think that much when your house is on fire, that's why I keep a "whattodo" list on my wall, if I would panic, or suddenly get retarded ^^

  • True, wet clothes would work. That towel may have worked also had she not removed it

  • i always cry i these videos

  • she should've keep the sheet on the fire, it may have smothered some of it

  • It amazes me how many parents don't watch their kids and never know where they are.

  • A very good segment. One question, it's a Thursday morning, why aren't those girls in school?

  • is that not where they were going when this occurred?

  • Shatner says in the opening they were getting ready to run errands.

  • maybe it was the school holidays or their school had a day off

  • thats weird how the fire made a spark and close the garage door.. she was trap in the car and i was shocked the car didnt blow up

  • poor kid i would of been terrified glad she is ok

  • imagine if the fire reached the cars gas tank that'd suc for everyone

  • ohh they dumb ass very lazy to get ready...!! assholes fire team like this they destry wtc on 9/11 haah

  • she must have really been in a panic because the daughter that got trapper was right in front of her

  • smoke billowed just as that girl went into the garage

  • I HATE it when a person gets lost in a fire!

  • very touching!!

  • Dr. Phil wuz there?!?! sweet!!!

  • DAMNNN! At 6:22--Dr. Phil whacks the shit out of that door! GO MAN GO!

I remember seeing this original on TV...wow.

    ~LauraG.~

  • that wasn't dr phil

  • The neighbor kinda looks like Dr. Phil.

  • I agree.

  • I Agree As Well

  • I also agree with you lol.

  • I also agree lols

  • I know the mother ment well when she took the sheet to smother it but she should of never picked it up she should of just left it there got both of her little girls and called 911 from a neighboors house

  • No, she did right -- tell the kids to get out and take some immediate action to try and snuff out an incipient fire. You don't know which way things will go, and being better prepared with a fire extinguisher will help, but odds are you can eliminate the dangerous situation by immediate action.

We shouldn't be raising Americans so helpless they can't do anything other then call 911.

  • 2 Words For Ya Fucking Moron

  • I would want to try to save my house!

  • Houses can be rebuilt. You however cannot be reborn.

  • Joe is amazing at life! As for the mom, it's a mistake anybody could make, especially when your children are in danger and you're not thinking clearly. Nobody ever thinks that this type of stuff can happen to them. I don't know what I would have done if this situation had turned out differently meow.

  • Me and my Elementary school kids were on are way to the park because they were having

a festvial for Bladen county Elementary schools and We were on our way The bus caught on fire It happened when I was 9

  • that must have been freaky for you

  • Yeah

  • whoops! I accidently clicked poor comment!!

  • Lol

  • How did it happen?

  • I don't know I smelled smoke and We had to get off at a grave yard

  • It's revealed towards the end - clothing caught fire when it came in contact with a pilot light.

  • Oops. I meant to hit reply, but hit spam. Sorry. But the grave yard- yeah that's not creepy or an omen!

  • Well It was an accident

  • Wow, this happened what 15 years ago ? Seriously, get on with your lives. Theyre not stupid either, the FD showed up and did their jobs, and the girl is safe.

  • Sorry I put thumbs down instead of thumbs up! oops

  • Hi there-

This is Stephanie, the girl from the video. I have to say, I haven't seen this video in 16 years, and I was quite surprised to see it on YouTube of all places.

While the video itself makes me upset, it is nothing in comparison to the comments that some of you have made. They are horrible, and I'm pretty disgusted that many of you needed to judge people in a situation that you DON'T know about.

  • Great post. They need to remember when kids are involved, they often don't know as well as they do now. I'm sure if that was me in that position at age 4, something similar would have happened. Same with most people on here.

  • I don't care if you call me stupid, because hey, if you need to make fun of a four year old on an internet site to make yourself feel better, all the power to you. As for my mom, if your daughter were missing in a burning house, what would you do? Wouldn't you be confused, scared, frantic?

  • If I had a daughter of my own I would freak out i would have anyone make fun of her. I know someone (caring enough) who saw that happened would cal 911.

  • Why would you judge her or my house without knowing her? And also, about my house being a pig sty, I would like to know what your houses would look like on an average day with five children to take care of.

  • I agree with you. And don't listen to these jerks on here, they're morons. While I don't know what your real house looked (looks) like, the one shown in the video was a very nice house, not a pig sty. I'm sure your house was/is nice, I've heard that Glen Ellyn is a nice area.

  • Whoever posted those comments needs to really reconsider how they spend their spare time. Maybe they should get a hobby, or watch real television shows. Seriously, it's so lame. This is the first and last comment I will ever post on YouTube. I'm done with this.

  • Wait, why does the title say garage door fire pin if there is nothing about that in the story??

  • I guess because the fire caused the garage door to close, trapping her in the garage.

  • have u seen every 1 from first video to the last if u have can i have some vids sent to me to watch i love these. episodes i saw were episodes 140 231 and 103.

  • It's too bad the mother didn't look hard enough in the van where Stephanie was hiding.

  • go to tvshowsondvd, com and vote on rescue 911 to come out on dvd rescue 911 has 435 votes to come out on dvd,

  • Hands down, gas appliances are downright ill-advised- nothing but fire traps all around. In this particular case, the pilot was just as dangerous as is the gas and pipeline.

  • Here's another perfect example of how a fire extinguisher was all that was necessary to prevent a disaster. And yes, for a pile of clothing that's caught fire, more clothing is a remarkably poor substitute for an extinguisher, as one said earlier.

  • Sorry, but there wasn't anything in the world that would have stopped me from diving head first through that window if my kid was in there.

  • yeah no kidding she should have tried at least

  • Couldn't she have used a trash can to throw water on the fire

  • Hey, what does Stephanie say around 9:05 about Officer Joe? That "he beats up my brothers for me" or something?! I couldn't quite make it out what the little girl said about her hero at that part

  • Acutally, the girl was Stephanie's sister, Andrea.

  • that mother is a dumbass never never throw clothes ontop of clothes that are already on fire sheesh.

  • How could the mother be a dumbass she was trying to put out the fire?

  • I cant BELIEVE that mother told the 911 operator that all her kids were outside when she did not know that for a fact. I dont think you can call the girl dumb, she is just a kid. The mother on the other hand.....And if they didnt live like pigs there wouldnt have been fuel for the fire.

  • You know, before you call someone a pig, learn the whole story. Did you know that she has five kids, not just the two girls shown in the story?

  • Well, look at the state of the place, piles of crap and clothes everywhere. Looks to my like a sty.

  • It is a television show...

  • Comment removed

  • plese dont do what she did

  • dont run or get a wet obgect

  • That mom is not smart why stay in the house when its gonna go on fire! get out and call from a neighbor dummy! it only take 3 braincells! ( i think!)

  • daughter n' mom are 100% STUUUUUUUUUPID!!

  • Not nice

  • 2441990, you should think before you say something because have you even noticed that thw sister that are featured in this video are commenting it based on what you are saying??

  • People these day what do they think of!

  • Mom=Dumb, Daughter=Dumber cop and fire fighters= smart

  • totally agree!!

  • THE GIRL WAS 4!

  • that mom=dumb, that cop= smarter

  • holy crap thats scary, I'm glad that I have enough safety sense not to think i can put out any fire w/ dry cloth.

  • I don't get it. Since she told the girls to get in the car and they went into the garage why didn't she look in the car?

  • BACKDRAFT!!! opening the door to the house!!! mmmm givig oxygen to a fire is a no-no!

  • Seeing things like this makes me want to become a police officer, not just fight bad guys but helping good people too.

  • the police weren't anywhere to be seen when my mom got mugged by someone with a knife, but they sure didn't hesitate to pull over me and my friend and give him a ticket for going 60 Km/H down a main street. And there were tons and tons of cops in the area too. funny thing, this was the exact same street corner where my mom got mugged. Fortunately my mom was OK [no thanks to the pigs], and my friend, who barely lives paycheque to paycheque had to get some help with paying the ticket.

  • What are you saying?

  • I don't throwing dry clothes on top of a fire is going to do a very effective job of extinguishing them.

  • Leaving clothes next to the washer and dryer

was definately a fire hazard and big mistake!!

She needed a fire extinguisher to put out that fire!

  • True, but I think she was really stressed and in a hurry and things like that can happen when you don't (or can't) think straight.

  • Even with a fire extinguisher, the experts recommend you only combat small fires (they only have so much charge in them) and you always have an escape route if your attempt fails.

  • great episode! thx for putting it on for me =]
