Yes, this information is not secret. It is safeguarded. The reason it is that is so a parent/guardian can look at what is going to be done and judge if it is safe for their child to go through. The reason this information is asked to be kept safeguarded is to keep the mystery of the order. It is to try and keep as much of the process unknown so it feels more authentic. If you had known everything you were going to go through would it meant as much? For me I know it would not have.

It is common knowledge among any of the OA members that there is a point to the secrecy. We do it because of tradition, and because it heightens the meaning of the being in the Order.

As a brotherhood member of the OA, I do strongly feel this video should be taken down. The OA is not a 'secret' society as it is an 'honor' society and member work hard to get access to the coveted organization.

The admonition is something that is reverent and is never to be spoken aloud or published for public viewing.

The fact that you really have no idea that these ceremonies mean has ruined your progression in the OA. It is called symbolic progression for a reason. Having seen and preformed most of the ceremonies, I have a better understanding than what I would have from reading from a script. It isn't about ceremonies, dressing up in regalia, or having secrets. It's about servant leadership. Becoming a better person than you think you can be so you can help others. It's a thing of the spirit.

Telling somebody before hand is like telling them about a surprise birthday party or what their christmas presents are ... it ruins it instead of opening your present and being surprised and wowed you now know what it is and its not the same.

There are no secrets in The Order of the Arrow or any part of Scouting. There are mysteries that should be preserved until the Scout or Scouter is ready for those mysteries to be shown to them.
