Don't let anyone tell you that voice lessons don't matter. I can tell that you haven't had lessons because your voice is lacking in resonance and you aren't even breathing properly.

Most of the finalists on American Idol like Carrie Underwood, David Archuleta, David Cook, and Adam Lambert started voice training in the early teens or even earlier. Archuleta has maintained a continuing relationship with his voice coach and its probable the others also have at least one regular voice coach.

You've got a really good voice, but you desperately need voice lessons. You're stretching to reach notes that Carrie can sing effortlessly because she has a trained singing voice. It makes all the difference in the world.

If you're a university student you can probably get voice lessons for free. If you can't afford voice lessons, you should at least do 30 or more warm-up exercises each day. If you don't know what a warm up exercise is, find someone with a trained voice and find out.

You need more practice. I think its just because Carrie's songs are very high pitches because her voice is like that. I think thats it because I (supposedly) have a good voice and i have trouble with the high notes like in So Small, the part when it says " and sometimes that moutain..." Is hard for me. But you could probably lower it an octave.
