Manche Leute meinen Balett ist so frauenfindlich weil man durch die strumpfhosen alles sehen kann... aber die Männer tragen ja auch strumpfhosen... & die haben nichtr so wunderschöne Tutus an.
my opinion is i like how Yuri Soloviev R.I.P. does this better. I also think he was better then Nureyev. They graduated in the same class together at the Kirov and they shared a room on the tour in paris. I always thought wen nureyev got older his pirouettes got sloppier but who knows. Also Yuri Soloviev has beautiful beats there so clean and look so easy.
They're good but not great or not the best. I prefer Platel and LeRiche also Komleva and Soloviev. They were musical, clean and very sharp. These two were too delicate for my taste.
I just don't understand why people are so sensitive! Like really, these people WORLD FAMOUS DANCERS! You, are not. Everyone is entitled to their opinions on who they prefer, but before you critique these people, take a look in the mirror and ask yourself, could I dance like them? Probably not...
I think it's not even the case if someone dances or not. But I also don't like when someone says "This dancer is the best" and then hundreds of people just can't accept it but they say "The best was Plisetskaya/Fonteyn/Makarova/Maximova/Pavlova/Guillem/whoever!", as if everyone had to like dancers who are legends, and can't like anyone else.
This version if definitely more exciting to watch, techincally not all there but exciting because i love Tereshkina's expression and joy in her dancing. She made up for the fact that Korsakov bores the crap out of me. Imagine if Korsakov and Guillem did this...it would be pokerface central but technically perfect.
I would love to see Tamara Rojo and Marianela Nuñez from Royal Ballet do this piece. They can pick their partner, I don't really care, I just would love to see the two of them who are balance freaks do this pdd :)
And as @ssssnooooo says "great dancing is not judged on whether or not the dancer makes a mistake" if all dancers did it like Sylvie G did it, God how boring wouldn't that be? Thank God for personalities and interpretations!
I feel that everyone who can do this Pas de Deux at least half-way decent is amazing. I think they did very well. I'm trying to learn the female variation and I am STRUGGLING.
I'm a Vika fan. However in this, I give it to Guillem. Sylvie has an imperial controlled quality missing here. For good reason in it she wears a crown, not a tiara.
@ssssnooooo are you insane? Bad? In what universe? Her extensions are as high as Guillem's. Her balance just as well placed. I spent 20 years as a professional dancer and teacher. Great dancing is not judged on whether or not the dancer makes a mistake. Everyone, including Sylvie, makes mistakes. These are two beautifully trained, world- class artists giving a very competent performance. Sylvie Guillem was lovely in this role as well, but with a completely different quality.
i think guillem has a control of extensions of that height that is unrivalled. also, during the solo variation, i find that tereshkina heaves her body too much towards the end - making it look heavy and difficult. guillem's one version of the grand pas classique i can watch without feeling the fear of the female dancer falling down.
I too have watched Guillem, and I agree that she is not the end all when it comes to this pas de deux. my personal favorite on youtube is the Elisabeth Platel, Nicholas Le Riche version. But then I am not too big of a fan of Guillem's.
Hello from Argentina! If, I agree, I prefer 100 times this version. I respect very much Sylvie Guillen but I prefer it in contemporary, in classic it she is very cold.
What ballet is this??? It's amazing!!! Victoria is perfect!! I want to dance this pas de deux too))

Pas de deux from grand pas classique is very difficult. Dancers must have perfect balance, good pirouettes and be strong. I think they just grant it.

Gorgeous! She's wonderful in this. The more I see of her, the more I like her.

In some parts like ballonets with right arm en haut Guillem shows her super strength.
But with graceful Mariinsky port de bras, Tereshkina makes this piece more scintilating! So I think Tereshkina version is far miles better!!!!
