  • I love how she imitates the voices, too.

  • Aww :)

  • I have a 9 yr old male Congo named Bob, who speaks in everyone's voice in the house (5 of us). I was in another room and he called out "Mom" in my son's voice, I went to see what my son wanted and it was my parrot! Yes, Greys can imitate the human voice that well, as well as a multitude of sounds they hear in their environment, and they can speak in context..BTW, I love Ruby, she is adorable.

  • I love the way she says "Rooob"

  • "Wheres Mommy?" ha adorable!

  • I don't know if tis id cute or creepy

  • My parrotlet used to say 'Gimme kiss' :'} I miss him so much :'(

    Ruby is so adorable

  • You can tell how much an owner loves a talkative parrot through what it expresses. You obviously spend a lot of time with her and that's wonderful!

  • She actually sounds like a person speaking in some parts!

  • first bird burp I ever heard! Love this bird!

  • Ruby is just adorable, How old is he??

  • @mwaldow1 She turned 10 years old on Nov. 1. We've had her since she was 4 months old, and she is a HUGE part of our family - she rules the roost!! hahahaha. Thanks for watching.

  • Do parrots think about what they say or are they just mimicking sounds??

  • @theVcam a woman named dr. Irene pepperberg is an expert in that.....you should try and search for "griffin the parrot" or "alex the parrot"....or if you search for "african grey parrot" i think its the video on top.....there is a documentary about it, and it says that they actually know what they are saying (not everything they are saying though)

  • @SuperJorunn i've seen it.....at least....a million times! xD it was the first african grey video i saw, i saw it in the television on animal planet, and i fell in love this these birds immidiately! :D i've been studying and reading about them ever since :) but thanks anyway! :D

  • Wooooah. She's a bright spark.

  • What a gorgeous parrot.

  • haha ruby also says you saying ''say this,'' haha

  • Lol parrots are creepy! Like they are brainwashed or something.

  • They can also often recreate voices that they've heard so that it sounds like the speaker.

  • 1:30 soooo cute

  • I love it when she say What??? She's adorable, I have one, I only just got it to say Pikaboo! But I don't know what my bird's gender is, it's too crule. ^_^

  • That baby loves kisses!

Oh I love her so much. I really want one.

  • danggggggg... amazing bird hahahah

  • hehe you should talk to the parrot as if you are the parrot, so you dont have the usual 'say...' in their vocabulary!

  • loooooooooooooooove it ....i hope my baby will talk as much yours he is only 6 months now , he is trying to tallk now ..

  • Um...did it laugh?

  • Awe, from the words and sounds she mimics, she seemed very loved!

  • this is incredible.

  • @Iluvejesus4eva there was an Africian Grey (same as Ruby is) named Alex who was the smartest bird. He knew what he talked about. You could ask him to get you a square block, and he would. Sadly, he died a year or two ago.

  • looks cold!

  • Wow! Amazing bird.

Can you give me a kiss? mwuaaaaah! :)

  • Cutie :)

  • I don't think birds can burp but they can imitate a burp no problem.

  • did that bird actually burped or did she made a sound that sounded like it?

  • lol what?????

  • I have to have my Ruby "fix" again ~ it's been a little while since I watched her.....my greys got real quiet and listened to her talk, too.

  • This is my fav video ever! I have two cockatiels and a conure, and all they do is scqeak! Great video!

  • very nice done u ur job, how much time u have taken for learning this bird.....

  • haha 2:56 WHAHAHAttT?!!!

  • For all of you who do not know this about African Greys, they have the highest intelligence above all other parrots, and they also have the highest vocabulary among the parrot family. Where most other parrots just merely mimic the words that they are taught, African Greys will actually say the words with an almost human voice. African Greys also have a very long life span, of about 40 to 50 years.

  • @vgeoffrion 70 to 90 years

  • @vgeoffrion - Actually, many parrots have the ability to speak with comprehension, it's just that most owners don't take the time to teach them the names of objects and such in context. Dr. Pepperberg's Model/Rival technique that she used with Alex and her other African Greys in laboratory settings have proven effective with other parrot types as well.

  • @vgeoffrion Look at Riley the parrot. he is also very smart, and actually has conversations with his owner.

  • @vgeoffrion actually they can live longer than that. 70 years if not more. my mom had a parrot(several actually).

  • How do you know she's a female? No offense.

  • African Greys are not sexually dimorphic, so in order to know an AG's sex, ya gotta get their DNA tested. (Dimorphic - two body types.)

  • wow i want one of these!

  • shes laught was epic :D rofl

  • oooooooooh.... that's SO LOVELY!!!!!

    i love ruby!!!

  • how did you teach your bird to talk

  • anyone else find it kinda creapy?

  • Clever bird.

But there is another Ruby here on youtube, only for adults! search :

    Ruby the X-rated parrot

  • wow lol wow lol

  • I love the inflection in her voice when she says, "Roooobbbb, Roooobbbb!" Absolutely amazing :)

  • african grays love them they learn words so quickly

  • ive seen this video so many times and every time i see it i am in awe. i love ruby xoxoxoxoxoxox

  • What a brilliant bird! Ruby is an Angel!!

  • Chemical Brothers :D

  • That bird is a liar.

  • My fav bit 1:28-1:38 lol :)

  • My parents trained an Eclectus. I met it before it died of old age. He had such a vocabulary that it was like he understood exactly what I was saying.

  • I have a Quaker Parrot named Belle. Absolutely adore her and everyday her vocabulary keeps growing. A quaker is my suggestion to younger people that want to get into talking parrots.

My mother has an african gray named Romeo. He hates everyone but her and yet I get him. The first time I stayed with her after she got him, I woke up to the sound of the microwave and thought it was my mother up early. Instead it was Romeo. XD

I hope to get Belle talking like your Ruby one day. ^^

  • oh my god i love her! shes so intelligent i want one of these parrots!! haha so adorable my mouth hurts from smiling! XD love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I really love Ruby too. If you get a parrot, please do tons of research. It is like having a 2 year old child for 90 years. Please rescue instead of buying. There are 400 rescue centers and many birds that need homes. Good luck in whatever you do. Please PROMOTE RESCUE, DON'T BREED OR BUY!

    With prayers and blessings,

    Linda & Geronimo

ps. See my video: "Macaw Betty in Parakeet Cage 17 Years" and please forward to everyone to promote rescuing. Thanks!

  • i am looking to rescue a parrot but i am completeley stuck on what kind. i definetly want a talking one but i live in a rather cold climate. any suggestions?

  • That is wonderful that you want to rescue a parrot. If you have never had a large parrot, it would be better to rescue a small bird, like a budgie. They talk and are really sweet. Check out some videos and do lots of research before even rescuing a small bird. If you eventually rescue a parrot, please make videos of rescues to PROMOTE RESCUE, DON'T BREED, OR BUY!

Just remember, having a large parrot is is like having a 2 year old child for 80 years plus.

    Blessings,

    Linda K & Geronimo

  • thankyou so much. i took your advice and rescued 2 little parakeets. one of them already has a big vocabulary but the other needs some work

  • Can't believe how many phrases/words she can remember. So intelligant, amazing.
