@LorenzoJDMsoliz I get it at least a few times a month... "hey, is that so-in so's car?" reply, "Nope!" this EG hatch has actually looked this way since 1995, before we even had a term for what is today now labeled "JDM". LOL! The hatch was only stock red for a year before I converted it to a Spoon look. but because I didn't whore myself out on the lame forums, I guess that didn't make me one of the cool honda "kids". LOL!!! Ergo, not many know who I am online.
funny u mention that. U have no idea how close 2 the truth u actually are...
this had become an issue on the 1st film with the black civic coupes w/ green underglow lighting. If the vehicles were 100% stock, then Honda might have a legal issue in their favor.
However, with customized vehicles who is 2 say they are not "kit cars".
I know you're thinking, "civic kit car,wtf?"
Holly"weird" can make any fiberglass kit car. Honda would have a hard time proving otherwise. legal mumbojumbo
Spa Yellow Pearl is the color of EG in this video clip.
The actuall "Spoon Yellow" is nothing more than the EG6 SiR stock "Carnival Yellow" from Japan. (Spoon Valve covers are actually a single stage Yellow. Similar to "sunburst yellow")
If u are considering spraying your Honda Spa Yellow I'd REconsider because it is a 3 stage paint process & is difficult 2 maintain due 2 the pearl. Not 2 mention expensive as well, trust us!
I remember when I saw this scene for the first time my friend and I joked about how his funeral was gonna be like this at 0:08 with all the modded cars
This was the best scene in the movie

@mrdeathbat92
Yeah, we seem to think so too... LOL!
Danny D. of Darby Engineering and I jumped out of our seats at the theater
when this scene came on. People around us were like WTF? on such a sad scene.
We later celebrated with a couple of cold ones later that night at the Downey Brewery.
"go downey dunkel!"

Where did universal find the cars that were in this scene? I also think I saw your eg a while back at the jdm Monday's meet??
mrdeathbat92 2 months ago
@mrdeathbat92
"Where did universal find the cars that were in this scene?"
A casting call was performed at Universal Studios.
There are videos of the casting call on YouTube.
You will see the hatch in the videos too.
...and yes, you can find us along with the rest of the JDM monkees,
every Monday night at our meet, JDM Mondays!

We chose Spa Yellow because it stands out more.

If you worked with universal, why'd you guys make the car so rice out?
TaLoCc 4 months ago
@TaLoCc
you're too funny. I was unaware that a Spoon certified
EG was considered rice?...
Maybe next time you can get your car in the movie instead
of all those "riced" out cars. LOL!!!!
JEMMotorsports 4 months ago
It's funny cause when everyone with a ricer civic saw this movie, they thought they were Paul Walker.

What kind of turbo and motor do the civic's in fast 1 have?
funny301 9 months ago
@funny301
Being HOLLYWOOD, sadly none of the black EJ chassis model 92-95 civic coupes in FF1 were turbo'd.
Each came with their stock U.S. spec D16 motor (SOHC).
The "woush" blow-off sound you hear in the film was later added in editing.
On a side note, the sound that was added came from Greg Leone's SUPERCHARGED CRX.
You can also catch a glimpse of his blue 'n white stripes CRX at the Desert Wars scene.
Feel free 2 ask any other ?s We should know, we worked for Universal on these films

what kind of tires are those???
meatdept 2 years ago
...At the time of filming, those are Spoon Sport SW388 magnesium race wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan Tires A032R (H) - 205.50.15
(The A032R tires have since become discontinued & have been replaced/updated with A048 models.)
EG6 is presently racing on Yokohama Advan A048 (M/S) 205.50.15
NOTE: Japan sponsored Yokohama race team tires came w/ factory white printed letters on them. "Yokohama" on one 1/2 & "Advan" on the other.
wheel specs:
SW388 427-AW-000 : 15" x 6.5 +35 4x100

@JEMMotorsports sw388's are alloy and not magnesium even so there stupidly light :)
4dftw 1 year ago
@4dftw
for someone who is clearly as much of a Spoon fan as we are, I'd say its important to get the facts straight.
Authentic SW388s are indeed a magnesium based alloy.
Magnesium is one of Russia's largest natural resources for export.
This is why the manufacture Desmond was contracted to produce the SW388s.
Magnesium is very strong and very light weight but comes at a high price and can not be repaired once damaged. It is also very flammable
BTW, nice spoon replica race car.... ;)
