I fail to see the correlation between something being free and it being in someon's special interest. That surmise isn't very valid and is taking to far of a leap.

It doens't mean it is in someon's special interest simply because the game is on free. Remember, we all had to buy our tv's. Also remember that tv has come with a few free local stations for as long as they've been out.

And is it a distraction or entertainment? The human brain needs some form of it to survive sanely.

Recreation and enjoyment. I am entertained by basketball and other sports. Athletes come out and perform to try to win games. Its interesting.

Even in classic times, there were sports events, such as the collaseum and such. Its entertainment, and its fun to route for the team that represents your city.

Entertainment is a pretty simple philisophical matter, you either like it or you don't. There isnt some pyschological reason why someone would enjoy sports...they just do
