i would say at that time the genre boundaries were fluent. Listen to "Misanthrope" from Death for example, it has also a huge thrash influence and sounds like thrash for me. In Fact Thrash was the Genre Death came out of, because the music got even more extreme. So you can see Kreator as one early Death-Band or as a Thrash-Band, only a labeling thing. the music kicks ass in both cases.

However, I have no doubt in my mind, this song is death metal. Listen to the riffs, sounds very much like death metal, the one at :30 reminds me of what EBTL era Cannibal Corpse would later do, and Ventor's vocals here sound just a little deeper than Jeff Becerra's.
