  • whats that on his face? a squirrel?

  • This is also the only break I have ever seen in candlepin bowling.

  • beautiful shot

  • Wow, I remember when they used to broadcast candlepin bowling on TV in the Boston area in the 1980's. Bowling was on after the Saturday morning cartoons were over.

  • LOL! In 10 pin bowling it is hard enough getting the 10 pin to bounce off the back end. Over here, the BALL bounces off the back end and pulls off a miracle.

  • the only player

  • I have done this multiple times in ten pin bowling where the pin gets replaced it's really annoying.

  • This guy has some extremely bad luck when it comes to breaking.

  • wow this guys the wrw'jr of candlepin lol. worst break, luckiest break, and the 500 lol.

  • i bowl in washington, and i went up to my grandmas in canada for my grandpas funeral and she said bring ur bowling balls and i said alright so then the next day after the funeral we went bowling and i walk in and this is wat i see... candlepin bowling haha

  • there bolwing is gay loook at there pins

  • @hockeydude1239 their*, bowling*, their*. I do not see how this type of bowling is "gay" just because you do not like it, or are not good at it, does not make it "gay".

  • Same guy the "Worst break," but he is little fatter.... he ate too many Eskimo Pies.

  • is that same guy with unluckiest break?

  • fake and gay

  • LOL

  • does anyone know if there are candlepin bowling arenas anywhere in Northern California?

  • @mrfortunateguy To the best of my knowledge, it's in Mass, Ohio, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and the three Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

I heard somewhere that there used to be a few lanes in California somewhere, but not exactly sure if it's still open. Pretty sure it was there in the 1990s.

  • @ReJ40 thanks. i'll look

  • In tenpins, that's a dead ball. Is that not the case in candlepins?

  • that would never happen in real bowling

  • "....he's gonna have to get some action off the wall"

    no kidding!

  • W00T luckiest shot i've ever seen

  • epic win LOL

  • what. the. fuck..

  • holy shit. hits 10 pin. ball goes all the way in back. knocks out 7 and then 4. yeah no way taht wud happen in 10 pin. wow

  • WIn blog. Dot ORG!

  • it makes up for that one pin he couldn't get down in the last video lol!

  • LUCK BUT NICE

  • wow, that is amazing.

  • never see that again

  • I candlepin bowling on tv

  • I miss Bob Fouracre.

  • And to think he had a pretty good chance of making it if that dead wood wasn't there lol

  • This guy is full of surprises.

  • LOL! I have only just watched the 'worst break' video, how vindicating would that be for him! does anyone know how far between each of those shots it is? it doesnt look too far apart

  • One word: WOW!

I remember watching this show religiously, and I didn't care for watching pro bowlers, either.

  • hahahahaha - dude looks like gargamel on steriods... nice mustache as well.. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha- lmfao

  • is this the same guy who made the worst break aswell ????

  • @liamisic911 thats what i thought

  • that is very lucky

  • is this guy still alive?

  • Yes he is and I'm friends with him too. He's still doing very well. :)

  • that's good and thanks

  • Personally, I am a duckpin bowler... However, while I was in Connecticut for a youth tourney, I had the opportunity to go over to Massachusetts to try out candlepins... I must say, it is a really fun and unpredictable game... I managed to shoot a strike and a 103 game.....

  • ok then

  • one time at the celebration station golf course i put the ball on the ground and it rolled away! i got a hole in one!

  • Hole in One? Thats a hole in none.

  • luckiest break is a strike but that was awesome either way

  • wow

  • LILLY after the golden gate LOL

  • wtf? you only need luck to play candlepin

  • The other thing to is that Loft is not only allowed in Tenpins it is often encouraged. You can't do that in Candlepin's because its illegal, and called a Lob. You actually have to roll the ball in candlepins. And when you are used to 16 lb balls in Tenpins, it is hard not to Lob. One time years ago I nearly hit the masking unit on my first candlepin ball after being in two tenpin leagues. Not fun.

  • To Echo what has been said here, a couple of weeks ago I bowled a couple of games of Tenpin and scored 213 and 203. And this is without having bowled Tenpins for nearly a year and not bowling often at all. If I bowl well in candlepins I will score just under 110. To be able to score well in Candlepins requires you to be in the pocket on most balls, and to be able to pick up single pins. Given the Smaller Ball and the skinny pins, your margin for error is much less

  • When it comes to needing ONE mark to win a game, don't tell me Smashing the pocket with power and spin on the first ball and leaving a single pin with no deadwood and hitting the spare dead in the nose requires no skill and mental toughness.

  • I've seen open 10 pin bowlers throw a house ball straight down the lane with no hook, hit either side of the headpin and get a game over 200. I work at a candlepin bowling alley and it is VERY VERY rare to see an open play bowler hit 90+. You're never going to see an open play bowler break 130-40 let alone get close to 200. To get a 200 in candlepin you need a little luck and lots of accuracy. You say candlepin is all luck? Bull crap. Luck can only take you so far.

  • Okay, I usually stay out of these Candlepin vs. Tenpin Debates, but here is my take. Both Games require the same amount of practice and dedication to be "good." Its just what is considered good is completely different. Since both games are scored the same (with the exception of candlepin allowing one more ball per frame) and the good averages in tenpin are 100+ pins higher, I think its safe to say that Candlepin, on paper is a tougher game.

  • That's a fair statement, Candlepinman. I would say it's just different skill sets required, and since both games are bowled one-on-one (or team-on-team), it's difficult to say one is tougher than the other.

On the other hand, I've visited Boston and tried candlepin and it's REALLY hard - especially for a first-timer. But it was fun.

  • this is why i love youtube... for videos like that

  • Are you allowed to throw the ball down the lane like a baseball? I don't see how one can be good in this game. The accuracy is probably immeasurable.

  • that was good

  • Wow and the crowd goes wild. lol that was good. i want to try candlepin so bad

  • sorry...that was supposed to be from me.

  • Made my shot you posted look routine...lol...funny thing is that Jack kind of got screwed over on his spare attempt after Paul hit the lottery. Gotta love this game!!!

  • That's Candlepin Bowling for ya! I've seen a lot stranger shots then that. 10 Stars

  • that's pretty fucking lucky lol...

  • THIS is why Candlepin>>>>Tenpin.

  • Or not... Not only does tenpin require more skill level and mental toughness while delivering higher scores, but tenpin has also yielded some incredible moments, such as miraculous shots like this. In no way does this video make candlepin better than tenpin. But I do think it's a cool sport to try.

  • Tenpin = more skill? Why don't you try leaving your love for 10 pin on the lanes and look at both games objectively. If you can do this, you'll see candlepin is the much tougher of the two games. The fact that it is so much tougher than 10 pin is why candlepin never caught on beyond the east coast.

  • Haha. I did... We have to adjust to oil patterns. Candlepin doesn't require you to have to make ball changes, adjust to lane conditions, etc. You just chuck the ball at the pins as hard as you can and hope that luck does the rest. And it isn't a "fact" that candlepin is "tougher" than tenpin. However, it is a fact that tenpin is more popular than candlepin. I mean, it's not even a contest.. And it's also a fact that the ball can fly out of the back in candlepin, another matter of luck.

  • "You just chuck the ball at the pins as hard as you can and hope that luck does the rest." Thanks Scott, that's the most ignorant statement about candlepin that I've ever heard and basically throws any credibility you had out the window because you obviously know nothing about the game.

  • I tried "chucking" the ball at the pins... being a tenpin bowler with a pronounced loft in that game, I can say the hang time of a ball weighing less than 3 lbs. is somewhat more noticeable than one weighing 16 lbs. And yes, I was embarrassed... It ain't that easy!

  • mcgradybowler is right on the money. Face it, the chances of a perfect game being hit in Candlepin are next to impossible. I don't care what you guys say about ten pin. For the most part, a typical ten pin average is 200+. Anyone who bowls Candlepin usually has a high game that is less than 200, though I do know a few people who have hit over 200 before. Overall, Candlepin is the much more difficult game, because accuracy is not only important, but knowing where to play the wood also matters.

  • The debate isn't which sport yields higher scores. It's which sport requires more skill and practice. My arguement is that tenpin is more popular and, therefore, more competitive. Also, one must worry about cleanly getting out of the ball while hitting a small target (usually about 2 boards) and delivering the ball with the correct speed and rotation consistently. The opposing arguement, from what I can tell, is that u have to be more accurate in candlepin and know how to play the wood.

  • i believe that candle pin is much easier. I really really want to try it. And when i do, i prolly wont believe it anymore lol. Im a ten pin bowler for the last 16 years, but they dont have candlepin around here.

  • Comparing a 10 pin score to a candlepin score is meaningless- at the end of the day, you are looking to beat the other guy who is bowling the same game and scoring system that you are. IMNSHO, 10 pin is tougher. Lane condition and oiling pattern is the factor. Some bowlers will own more bowling balls than they can carry to deal with different patterns. You can be all dialed-in at the beginning of a game, the lanes break down, and you're lost. C-pin ball straight ball speed overcomes this.

  • I don't think ten pin is really any tougher than candlepin, it's just the scoring factor in both games. Candlepin you average between 100-130, ten pin is usually 200 or higher. Both games are probably equally tough because candlepin relies on spare shooting more than strikes, while in ten pin it's completely the opposite.

  • @shad0h027: And as you roll the ball you cry, "Let me bowl or let me die!" You're almighty Malachi, the bowling god. The smell of rosin gets you high. Kiss those fuckin' pins goodbye! You're almighty Malachi, the bowling... bowling god

Yeah, the bowling god............................... Stephen Lynch?

  • @cpropst15 Googled it.. that's pretty good, thanks for that! As for me, yeah the smell of Storm's rosin bag does give me a bit of a buzz (what can I say, I dig vanilla) but unfortunately I still suck.

  • @mcgradybowler Yeah, and half the time we Candlepin bowlers wish it never existed HERE either! Every night (I work at a candlepin bowling centre) at least once, I here a bowler say "I hate this game, I must be a sucker for punishment!" Haha

  • thats ownage

  • well, that's one way to get it, i suppose

  • Wow. ^^

  • I almost shit my pants

  • damn dude that's fuckin crazy
