I'm making the point that the hatred they have for us is brewed from the things I previously listed, bases that occupy their country, trade sanctions, support for dictators, etc. The big advantage that Al Qaeda gets when we are over there, is that it is much easier to recruit. Your reasons are unrealistic. The only bases we have in the Middle-East are in Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Israel, and Afghanistan. And the bases built in two of those countries were constructed after bin Laden attacked us. Trade sanctions were also implemented after the fact.

@TheAntiV We have had trade sanctions on numerous countries over there for years that don't do as we please which included Iran and Libya (those are the ones I'm most familiar with) but the base in Saudi and the support for Saudis dictators was likely a main cause for the attacks. Over half of the attackers were from Saudi, and the irony is, our governments are friendly to each other. I think the first question you have to answer is why this happened? or What was the motivation?

Osama Bin Laden's numerous warning given in years and years of law suits as he kept suing our country for bombing them years before 911. Ron Paul is right on...Crowd is totally ignorant. It would take someone that was out of their right mind (crazy) to bomb us because of our values, way of life etc. It would be a totally irrational notion to do that. However, the hatred that we stir up is because of our occupation, murderous trade sanctions, support for dictators, and other things of the sort. I'm making the point that the hatred they have for us is brewed from the things I previously listed, bases that occupy their country, trade sanctions, support for dictators, etc. The big advantage that Al Qaeda gets when we are over there, is that it is much easier to recruit. The bigger our presence, the more hatred we brew, and the easier it is for Al Qaeda or any other anti-american organization to convince the people of the region to join arms with them against us.

Your reasons are unrealistic. The only bases we have in the Middle-East are in Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Israel, and Afghanistan. And the bases built in two of those countries were constructed after bin Laden attacked us. Trade sanctions were also implemented after the fact.
So what are we supposed to do? Just let them attack us? This baseless claim that us being over there causes an increase in radical recruitment lacks strong evidence and is overused.

@TheAntiV We have had trade sanctions on numerous countries over there for years that don't do as we please which included Iran and Libya (those are the ones I'm most familiar with) but the base in Saudi and the support for Saudis dictators was likely a main cause for the attacks. Over half of the attackers were from Saudi, and the irony is, our governments are friendly to each other. I think the first question you have to answer is why this happened? or What was the motivation?

Actually this Islamic radicalism isn't very old. It wasn't until the 1950s that fundamentalist Islam started gaining influence, and outdated, dying traditions like the veil saw a spike in popularity. That's when followers of a fringe 18th century scholar Mohammed Al Wahab began to take Islam back to basics. So how does Osama fit into this meddling? He's from one of the most wealthiest Arab families and he was never negatively impacted by our foreign policy.

Not only did they not support us when we went into Iraq in 2003 but some aspects of their government fund terrorist organizations.
