This is an important part of a kitten's growth, and if you interfere, the animal is less capable of defending itself in the case of abuse or an actual attack from another animal - and the play is important for both animals as exercise.

@URAbunnylover2 It's both play and education. If these excersizes which I like to call "tempt and tackle" didn't happen, the kitten would not be able to defent itself as soon. A cat's defensive and offensive skills are instinctive. The will develop on their own, but when this sort of challenging exercise can happen between mother and kitten, it develops quickly. And when a full litter gets involved, it works out even better. The worst thing that people can do is interfere.
