I agree with orangedac; if she's nervous for her little one, why doesn't she call him to her or try to pull him away from the visitors. I just read about the practice of phajaan, where Indian elephant calves are beaten into submission by humans so they can be exploited for work. I don't understand why a gentler, more humane method isn't used in a country whose religion worships these magnificent creatures.
She seems to be stressed because the baby is with visitors. But these elephants are well taken care of and most of them are used for heavy works as in all south indian villages. There is a big difference from elephants in a circus. But here the mother has of course to stay there with the baby.
@orangedac the sign of stress is when they move their heads right and left not up and down. That happens when they are bored .. these elephants constantly keep doing something.
WHAT YOU GIVE DURING VEDIO CLIPS ARE VERY VALUABLE, OUT OF STAGE MNOBODY IS SEEING !!!!!!!!

WHY DO'NT YOU GIVE EVEN ONE BANANA TO THE BABY ELEPHANT??
narayananraveen 1 year ago
@narayananraveen
Who says we didn't?
We bought a whole package and distributed them before filming. But if you know elephants, a buch of bananas is gone in 2 minutes!
Anyway these elephants are well fed and cared for. B etter than many others.

the elephant in the background (the mother) is showing signs of distress bobbing her head up and down.
usually elephants in circuses perform these repetitive manuvers when they are stressed due to being locked up all day.

Really indeed special creatures. Most animals are, but some animals really have more brains than others.
