I was there with wife, son and his girl friend. First thing you hear in the silence was shouting. Then what sounded like rapid fire riffle, roar of the crowd and then rapid movement of people toward you. The panic was real. You did not have time to question whether a threat was real or not. A bomb didn't cross my mind, only that I thought we might be shot! The sound turned out to be metal fences falling over. See them laying in the street in the vid. Scariest thing I have ever witnessed.

Indeed you are right, but the queen and here family want to stay close to the the people at any cost, even if that means here own safty is at risk. The security measures were even higher this year as 2 years a go. Then the crowd was even closer to the royal family. You can stop these incidents from acurring if you want your ceremonies to take place. It is a part of the dutch tradition that we can come close to the royals, if we can´t we might as well become a republic.

Today's Remembrance Day was disturbed by two men, one yelling and one dropping a suitcase causing panic in the audience. The queen was taken to a safe area, she later returned. Many people got injured while the two men got arrested by policemen (which you can see in the video).
