  • "starbucks is where you work as a teenager or as a side job not as your main source of income same goes for walmart or mcdonalds or as a cashier or stocker at any grocery store" M.C -2009

  • oh and free market and trade is so much better? Unions have done so much more for this country than free trade ever did. It raised the quality and bar for businesses and how they should treat workers.

  • Yes it is MUCH BETTER!

If that is the way you feel you need to move to China. Unions served a purpose in the 1920's they have not been relevant since then. All they do is destroy businesses and suck their members dry. Must be nice to get money for doing absolutely NOTHING for your members other than cripple the companies that hire them. Don't be brainwashed!

  • wow. you really don't pay attention do you? the IWW is all volunteer and run by the rank and file workers themselves. no one is being payed to organize, we organize out of necessity, because as the IWW preamble states, "the working class and the employing class have nothing in common."

  • WOW, you are an idiot. I don't care what the IWW is. No one has to organize out of necessity, let me spell it out for you...IF YOU DON"T LIKE YOUR JOB QUIT AND FIND A BETTER ONE. Last I checked Starbuck's pays all of their employees. But if idiots like you keep "organizing" you won't have to worry about it because they will go out of business and then what will you do? Please go back to school and learn that people are not "payed" they are paid!

  • That is our underlying difference because I reject your IWW preamble. The working class and employing class have a lot in common as they should in general. But people like you want something for nothing. Why don't you just call it a day and simply go on welfare.

  • what? organizing has always come out of necessity. and the owning class is nothing but leeches and parasites. everything they have is stolen from the working class. the bosses are truly the ones who want "something for nothing."

  • WOW!!! Where are you from? What world do you live in? Scratch that what century? The "owning class" come on now don't be ridiculous. There is no necessity to organize, if you don't like the way you are treated by an employer simply QUIT. Businesses provide jobs for workers. We need businesses in order to have an income. What do businesses want but people that work instead of cry about the fact that they have to work. You have a huge chip on your shoulder. I feel really sorry for you.

  • Don't worry, the IWW isn't planning to just leech off of the bourgeoisie, the IWW is going to overthrow your kind.

  • The IWW isn't going to overthrow anyone. They simply aren't that smart. You truly show your ignorance because it is my kind that supports this country and your kind that tears it down.

  • union workers are hard workers. and if you don't like your job that's all the more reason to stay and organize. oitherwise you're hopping from shit job to shit job and not changing a damn thing.

  • LOL Starbucks union workers, now that is funny!!!

    local, 2 scoops.

these people ain't union, or have been in contact with a union. or they would have been told never go in while in protest.

Plus anyone that is working for Starbucks as a main form of living needs a hard hit in the head. oh and a good kick in the ass.

  • i worked at starbucks for over two years and i can say it was every bit as phsyically and emotionally draining as being a line cook, a prep cook or washing dishes. some of the other shit jobs i've had in my life. especially concidering that you have to put up with corporate micromanaging and rude, bitchy, rich-ass yuppie customers while you're burning yourself on their overly priced lattes. you and people like you tend to mistake starbucks workers for starbucks customers.

  • furthermore, the majority of the people in this video are in the union, are in fact baristas and quite a few work in this exact location (as well as the location across the park). they went in to show management they are not afraid and to show support for their fellow workers who had to work on May Day, a worker's holiday.

  • people work in starbucks as their main form of living because times are hard and you have to take what you can get. unfortunately due to "omptimal scheduling" it is now next to impossible for baristas to hold down a second job because starbucks expects you to have nearly complete open availability with no gaurantee you'll get the hours you need.

  • for the record, the IWW is a hundred and five year old radical labor union organized around the concept of solidary unionism. we are organized nonhierarchically, so we don't have "union bosses" telling us what we can and cannot do. all decisions are made by the workers themselves. and in this case the workers decided to go inside to show the bosses whose house it really was.
