He should have never apologized it happens people get angry and the guys who tried to make him angry they should be taking to court for trying to destroy his act and his reputation by blowing this out of proportion.:)
All I can say about the Michael Richards racism incident is that the point of an insult to is to hurt the other person as much as possible. While I don't quite like the way he handled those hecklers, as far as hurting them went, he did it really well. As far being funny went, it depends who you ask. Either way I don't think we should hate Richards forever because of it because it was one incident. The man has black friends (racists don't) who unflinchingly defended him. That says something.
Michael Richards is a great comedian who has a slip up. People get second chances when they are out of rehab from being a junkie....some as Charlie Sheen get second chances for being a womanizer. Richards has an unfortuunate mishap at a show where he got carried away. He epressed his apology to everyone who was offended and so it should be forgiven....I can think of much worse examples of racisim from African Americans just listen to some of the rhetoric from the NBPP
NBC ruined the show. They wanted a Kramer show but that failed. Michael wanted something different but he didn't get his way. He deserves a chance. Totally
I do think before I comment thank you. All you've gone and done is throw the first amendment card, which is simply a way of saying, "I can say whatever the fuck I want and be a thoughtless asshole". I understand it's about freedom, but when people use it in a thoughtless negative manner, it takes away the meaning of it's purpose. The only thing dumber is, "the right to bear arms".
If it were chris rock making fun of some white guy at the apollo, do you think there would have been an outrage? Hell no. It's ok to make fun of whites, and whites don't like it. Good for Richards for striking back. The blacks use the 'n' word constantly, and then suddenly whine if a white guy uses it. Pretty pathetic, inconsistent and small minded. Welcome to jewish america.
Solely because of his track record on "SEINFELD", Richards convinced NBC that his idea for an American variation of "Inspector Clouseau" was a perfect choice for the 2000-'01 season. It wasn't. Announcer Don LaFontaine was better in this promo than the series that followed....NBC virtually made the same mistake four years later when they spawned "JOEY" from "FRIENDS" (only they had a two-year commitment for that one).
Actually, he DID have the right to say what he said. If you know anything about the first amendment, you'd know it protects speech that people do NOT like, as much as speech that people do like. If it were a black man calling a white guy a cracker, the brain-dead crowd would have guffawed nonstop, and it would have been viewed as "getting back" at the evil white man. Do you even think before you post??

He did not have every right to say what he said, he had every right to make an example of the man, just not in the manner he did.
