  • according to Marky Ramone on his radio show, this is by "No Brain" a side project including him, Lars, and Tim, not Rancid.. but still great upload :D

  • where can you get that poster???

  • I cant really say much about what the ramones did for punk cuz i'm 19 years old but in my opinion they seemed to take all the attitude and scratchy style of bands like iggy and the stooges and mc5 and just made it faster and simple. Why i guess people felt it was a more accesible to anyone trying to play music at that time.

  • People get confused with the punk attitude and the punk genre. The Ramones Strated the Punk Genre and the punk attitude has been around for ages

  • I'M AGAINST IT!

I love rancid's ramones covers best. they always do good.

  • if you guys are thinking ramones were the ones who STARTED punk, you're wrong. Punk started really early. I mean even some of the Beatles songs were punk like "Helter Skelter" or "Kick out the Jams" by MC5 or even "My Generation" by the Who. Punk started way earlier than the Ramones but the Ramones really made it a main genre.

  • Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. These were first punks :P

  • omfg i love love love rancid!!

    tim armstrong is god!

and he looks so hot in that suit!! ♥

  • tim is mine!!!

  • i agree with ska punk026

    the clash were'nt necessarilly punk

    they were music

    and fine music at that

  • They were punk in what they did. Punk is still music, by the way. They paved the road for most punk bands today.

  • Ramones.

  • it doesnt matter who started it.its the best music there is and thats all that matters

  • Comment removed

  • No band started punk, and who gives a fuck anyway. Today's punk is all that matters!

  • who gives a damn who started punk rock? it's music, listen to it, enjoy it, love it, skank to it.

  • I love you

  • being on a major doesn't make you a sellout, the clash never sold out, they never changed, their political views always were the same, they played what they wanted to play, no one told them what to play or do. They are the best band ever to me.

  • I dont mean to down your favorite band. but they sold out. bands get signed onto major records when they have a big fanbase. when the fans want something els, or a new sound. the record companies make the band change how they sound. Hence the clash.

    jake

  • No... The clash never sold out, of course they were on a major label, they always wanted to make their band the biggest possible but it doesn't make them sellouts, of course they mixed a lot of styles after The Clash (album) a mix of punk, ska, reggae, funk, hip hop, etc... they did want they wanted to do. listen to complete control, it's about the record company and manager trying to take control. the clash had the same views from begining to end. it's just truth.

  • There's nothing wrong with making money.

Even the Ramones did work with major record labels.

I'm no expert on the Clash, but I don't consider them sellouts just because they made a lot of money. They had to- it was their JOB.

As long as you don't change your sound for the sake of money, you're not a sellout.

But if I were asked a billion dollars to make change my song, I would sell everyone out in a matter of milliseconds.

  • You know that you've done a good cover when the band themselves lets you perform it with them live!

  • Punch up DEE DEE RAMONE TIME BOMB on utube, it rocks!!

  • This version is outstanding. Almost Exact replica of the Ramones version. Thanks 4 posting!

  • this sounds the same as the ramones version

  • who cares whos first enjoy it u werent here when it started so fuck it and make it go forever punkrocker 4 life

  • A way to show that punk will never be dead!!

  • rancidrares, wow you have rare songs where the background is a rare picture, thats sweet!

  • where i can find this song?

  • i got it

  • Actually that's not Rancid. In the mid 90's there was a side-project with Marky Ramone and Mark Neuman (Sheer Terror) called No Brain. That's their only record and can be found on Punk Rock Jukebox compilation.

    Tim Armstrong: Lead Vocals, Guitar

    Lars Frederiksen: Lead Vocals, Guitar

    Mark Neuman: Bass

    Marky Ramone: Drums

  • Thanks for the info.

  • is that who does the sheena is a punk rocker cover? or is that actually rancid?

  • that's rancid. it's from the ramones tribute we're a happy family

  • PUNK FUCKING ROCKS

  • rancid, the greatest modern punk band covering the greatest and first punk band, hell yea!!!

  • the clash was alaso the first punk band

  • Ramones and Sex Pistols were first

  • what about the new york dolls or the stooges? They where before both the ramones and the pistols.

  • I see what your saying but Ramoes and Pistols were the 2 that people were like, wow ive never heard this before.

  • I don't know why ppl thumd down you comment, cause you're right and what about MC5 and Richard Hell

  • yeah that's true, but they weren't punk at all...

  • ...and the clash. They fucking shit all over the pistols.

  • both clash and the pistols started playing after hearing the ramones so yeah ramones was first of those. can still be debated what was the first "punk" band

  • Rancid were the first punk band, haha
