  • piece of advice, if i'm carrying my camera backpack, I "strap" it at the bottom of the tripod so it'll not topple over when its a bit gusty. =)

  • baby oil! that will do the job!: ).helpfull and a great video!

  • @PoesKlap133 Just retarded!

  • no more soda look what a belly!!! dude!!

  • @hanzeln yeah, saw that too, his figure is now somewhat odd shaped....

  • @BigRooster747 fat ass, fat legs, omg....

  • I have a question not if u can answer, but I recently got ahold of 3 older series e lenses and love, and the ttl will not work with my flash, will this flash work with it since its manual/doesn't use ttl? Thanks

  • @playray91 not sure what you are asking.

  • @playray91 are you retarded or retarded?

  • Is it possible to use the wireless sync from the camera instead of the pocket wizard for these photos?

  • @tercioca sure if your camera and flash support it.

  • They should sell shoot through umbrellas in bulk and Pocket wizards with titanium shoes. Some wind is nice but good lord I've had to replace soo many. I could see the incredible frustration in your face as soon as that bloody stand went down. This is also why if at all possible to have an assitant. Until then do whatever you can to weigh that thing down and be ready to continuously replace warped and busted umbrellas.

  • why price for all kit for pocket wizard?

  • very nice man

  • hey dude you use to be real skinny. now your a big fatty. whats up with that?

  • @sampreap Did you recently get a new monitor? Sometimes upgrading to widescreen causes some distortion :)

  • @sampreap Nice and subtle.

  • Aha I love this guy's videos.. but he walks like Barney with all the stuff in his pockets xD Keep up the good work!

  • Jennifer Shao is the most sexy girl in the World

  • Oh yeh. I'm gonna b so pro now

  • @BUFFBOYM3 haha, I can see why this shoot would inspire someone to want to make it a full time job - but this is just a very basic technique for those starting out.

  • Aren't you carrying like... too much stuff in your pockets??

  • @medqua it always surprises me what details different people pick out and notice.... I love those pants for shooting - 7 pockets, lots of room for storage.

  • @youmantube2009 my pleasure

  • Thank you for the video tutorials...your helping a lot of newbies like me! :)....I really appreciate it a lot!!

  • Heard the music in the beginning and thought it was FroKnowsPhoto. LOL

  • love these strobist type videos! would love to see more!

  • I spoke too soon on the stake idea. Didn't realized it still blew over. Lol

  • @Uscbryan949 haha, in anything other than sand it works well.

  • For the budget conscience some of the older generation Nikon flashes are inexpensive on eBay. Just picked up a sb28 for about 70$. For a strobist set all you need is to be able to set it in manual and shut off the sleep mode. I have a sb700 but really should have got a few sb28 since I don't use the auto mode on it.

  • Btw, great idea with the stakes, I just bought some sand bags but I think the stakes will be better. Much lighter than a 15 pound bag.

  • First you get me with the d800 and now you get me with my Yellow Fever. Dang I love the Asians!

  • legend......

  • @ThePhotographybysimo you can always do a self portrait. will check videos asap

  • Trying to find a model for your nude comp not easy can you look at my vids and let me know what you think thanks Simon

  • Hey matt can you look at my quick vids and let me know what you think thanks I'm trying to find a model at the mo for the nude comp LOL not easy

  • how can you tell that no light is spilling?

  • Good results !

  • Best time spent

Learning photography and watching hot girl at the same time

Thanks Matt keep fill the videos to my sub box

  • @kinutube you got it.

  • ya you did some great videos on them months ago

  • "for me, i find it really useful to use metal stakes."

You mean, after your D5100 got smashed? ;)

  • @kurisuaki haha, fair call. Nah I don't stake tripods... that was just a screw up

  • Thanks Matt!

Do you ever use reflector and when you do how? (with an assistant or somehow on a stand?) I am just getting in to flash so please show us more of this stuff :)

  • @MrKLMFokker yes I do - and I will do a video on it.

  • @thatnikonguy Thanks!

  • H i mat i use a softbox less chance of blowing over lol

  • Nice video Matt Many Thanks. It's harder than what allot of people realize shooting in bright sunlight, Shame about the umbrella falling over as that would have made the shots a little less hard light and would have controlled the shadows better. I like these vids, informative and that's what it's all about, helping to teach others.

  • Interesting video again Matt TNX.

Also a bit confusing. I thought one uses shutterspeed and ISO to control the background light and Aperture, ISO and flash power/distance to control flash exposure. I guess there's more to it. Especially on a bright day where you're limited to max sync speed.

    Cheers Steven

ps I can highly recommend the Yongnuo 565.

  • Matt, I think your focus at 0:49 onwards is far too close =)

  • (On the right corner)

  • You have dust on your senser

  • Good infromative VDO.

May I know what do you do to earning your living?

  • also im suprised you dident use a nd filter/grad filter. ive found the hoya nd filters work great for opening up the apature or bright days.

  • @bwinn10 yes, I did use a ND that day.

  • do you have any sand bags you can put on the base of the flash stand also ive been thinking of picking up a manfrotto flash stand never used one but everything the make is good as far as tripods

  • @bwinn10 yes I have some, dont use them often.

  • @thatnikonguy Matt, what do you think of Nissin flashes?

  • please do a long series with that model - those last images are some of the best I've seen you put up...great work Matt and hat's off to Jen!..With the new talent you've got onboard your giving Kai and his girls a run for their money...would have been interesting to see a reflector on her opposite side too...

  • @CRANKYONE100 cheers, may do. Re the reflector - no assistant that day - as you will see in the video I upload in next couple of days.

  • Comment removed

  • @bwinn10 yes, i have one

  • @thatnikonguy they have a boom type arm that has a clamp on the end and it connects to the flash stand for using reflectors on assistant free days. or have the model hold it for face shoots. but i think the point of this vid was to show how to get good lighting easy right?

  • Are you watching me? Classic.

  • @AcXr50 I think it was probably a fair question :)

  • @boytanong I have no idea what you mean, I love all people :-)

  • @BoslyELee my soothing and relaxing voice? :-)

  • you said Mr. Granger that going to Hong kong is a tradition for you. now I know why :) you love Asian girls right? great subject and tutorial. always a pleasure watching your videos.

  • Hey Matt how about a video with you using the Yong Nuo RF 603 transceiver with the Yong Nuo 560 flash?

  • @BoslyELee I dont own the 603.

  • @thatnikonguy It's inexpensive I think for $30 you can get 2 transceivers. The Yongnuo 560 are great for people on a budget and would like to see it being triggered with something that people on a budget can afford.

Awesome videos on strobist Matt. Learned alot from them. Thank you.

  • @BoslyELee I use a RF603 on my 560 and is works perfectly fine

  • @openbeta843 I haven't been able to test mine much. Busy with school. I watch Matt's videos for destressing. hehe.

  • Hey Matt, how is the optical sensor on that flash, I just want to use the pop up flash to trigger it.

  • @schumionbike you will need to be careful - the pop up with introduce light to the scene. I will do a video showing how good the slave is.

  • What was the f Stop used here?

  • @RexelB Varied from f2.8 to f11.

  • Awesome vid! Cheers yet again from snowy Colorado Springs!

  • with 70-200 2.8 Lens, is it not recommended hold or pick up by the Lens tripod collar than the camera body?

  • @TibetArchive a lot of people have strong opinions on this - I doubt many of them own the gear though. It is fine.

  • Almost another disaster with the gear :) Sandbags for beaches and the softer grounds. The weather wasn't kind on this shoot...

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Looks like you upgraded your BlackRapid RS-5 & RS-7 strap to RS-Sport

    I got a RS-Sport 2, works nice

  • 2nd cheers from snowy Canada.

I love the vid. I was planning to do a similar shoot.

  • @wilbertcs Cheers - hope to see the results from your shoot on Flickr soon!

  • You have very nice weather there now, Matt. Cheers from snowy Moscow, good vid :D

  • @dachevashe cheers! I hope to visit Moscow some day.
