  • UNIX based :D

  • jeez its been how many years since this was released, and even though im on lion it seems like d be right at home with panther

  • R.I.P Steve 

  • R.I.P Steve Jobs 

  • I -3 panther

  • 9:31 what are they laughing at?

  • I'm wondering. I have just bought an old Imac from '99 with OS 9.1. I want to upgrade to OS X. What should I do? Instal Mac OS X Panther or Mac OS X Tiger? What is the maximum I can get from this computer?

  • @henli02 If it has firewire that it capable to run 10.4 tiger. If your iMac doesn't have firewire than the best solution is 10.3

  • @henli02

    Get a new mac.

  • OH my god. When the video started and I saw Steve Jobs I almost cried...

  • Otamatically LMFAO

  • My god, he died an hour ago.

  • @KazumaProductions its incredibly sad :\

  • Guys. Chill. It's just a new Finder..

  • back when mac os 10 came out people were still using windows 98 and compared to that the UI was heavenly..apple really raised the bar in terms of core animations and UI and user efficiency

  • why do i feel im watching tiger keynote? way to go panther.

  • Just like the iPhone in 2007 with this Finder announcement

  • @javier29m90 I bet you can't afford even an iPod Shuffle... stfu

  • Sixth major operating system is Mac OS X Lion!

  • @tweetyaja no, OS X Lion is the 8th major release.

  • Even though I am a windows user, I have to say that way that osx 10 has evolved is really impressive.

  • Mac OS X 10.3 Panther was the first version of Mac OS X I actually liked using. It was so much nicer and the finder was so much easier to use.

  • Mac OS X 10.3 Panther was when Apple started getting the OS just about right.

  • quá hay !!!

Steve Jobs quả thật là một người có khả năng ăn nói tài tình

  • Operability is not a word !

  • @JamesJacko6

There's this new thing called "Google", you could actually look stuff up by typing them in this thing called a "search bar." For example, you could type something like "operability defintion" and it gives you a list of things called "websites" that are related to the thing you just searched (pretty cool huh?). Some are by reference book publishers like Merriam-Webster. Hope that helped! :)

  • mac os doesn't look that different

  • jesus he's fat here lol

  • Jagwire?

  • Get well soon Steve! :')

  • JAGWYER

  • i really cant wait for lion! i really hope its as good as windows 7 in all the features and user friendliness of windows 7, leopard right now aint lookin so friendly

  • Is this a good os?

  • @EJJANS01 its old use 10.4 intel, 10.5, or 10.6

  • @EJJANS01 it was "good" years ago. o-o

  • @EJJANS01 Interesting, this was the first iteration of Mac OS X to really come into its own, with the Finder, changes to Mail, etc. The previous releases of Mac OS X were basically nothing more than NeXTstep with a Mac-like GUI. The Finder used from Cheetah-Jaguar was almost a complete carbon copy of the file manager in NeXTstep, which makes sense given the history of Mac OS X.

  • hope we have a new finder in Mac OS X Lion

  • @AppleiVideo Lion?

  • @chillinur36 yes Mac OS X Lion will be out in 20th OCT

  • @AppleiVideo im guessing 2011

  • @chillinur36 yeah

  • @AppleiVideo Actually, Summer of 2011

  • @AppleiVideo Why?? the current one works perfectly.

  • @AppleiVideo Nope. Just Chuck Testa.

  • @AppleiVideo yeah, we did, lets hope we get a new finder in mountain lion!

  • @MrTheduderocks i don think we need a new finder coz lion finder is very good.

  • JOBS looks and sounds so different.

  • @pokeeto2 he looks like he weighs a little more here lol

  • whats the difference between leopard and snow leopard???

  • @freesedm The difference is in the stuff Apple posted in August last year!

  • @freesedm Snow Leopard was just building off of Leopard. It was just faster, safer, and had some nice improvements.

  • This is WWDC 2003. WWDC 2004 was Mac OS X Tiger.

  • User Centric file storage has been around in windows for a long time. It's called My Documents

  • lol "boomboomboom" at 5:22

  • He can afford more than water I'm sure !

  • os 10.7 is going to be called lion or somthing its the cat left

  • @iphone3gs78 or cougar maybe.

  • @TommyBNSF i think thats 10.1 or 10.2

  • @iphone3gs78 10.1 was Puma and 10.2 was Jaguar. 10.0 for that matter is Cheetah.

  • FTFF

  • cool.

i'm upgrading to this from windows 7.

my new computer is an imac g3.

  • @supermanizgay Go for it.

  • @supermanizgay im getting a g3 today too.

  • Great sound quality man. Thanks.

  • Panther is released in 2003 and Tiger was released in 2004.

You need to correct your heading .

  • Tiger came out in '05.

  • @Compuser100 Tiger was released in 2005 fyi. :)

  • 5:00 "and it poofs"

don't know why that makes me laugh.

  • haha

  • American accents are awesome! I love how they say "Puma". Heh.

  • yeah, but yours is cooler!

  • panther vs. snow leopard?

  • Snow Leopard is better in nearly every conceivable way, unless you consider not being able to run on PowerPC a weakness.

  • It was about time PowerPC Was Dropped, Why develop the newest OS For an out of date Computer, The thing is that PPC Users still have Leopard So they do not really lose out that much anyway untill 10.7

  • i <3 panther! we have it at our school and it is amazing!

  • just wait till you get snow leopard

  • i think we have new macs in our computer lab with panther in them but im not sure........ going to have to wait till my computer class next semester!!!

  • You might have Tiger or Leopard if they are from the last year or 2 (my college's media suite uses Tiger)

  • If they are "new" Macs, then they are running Leopard. Panther hasn't been sold on Macintosh computers since 2005.

  • Actually, if they are new, they are running Snow Leopard.

  • :/ panther is old now, its 3 versions behind and its unsupported

  • whoops... did i say panther? i meant s.leopard.

but our school does have panther on the iMac g5 and emac thugh

  • I can only go up to panther but I dont care. I use it mostly for email and browsing the internet. I cant wait till I finish building my gaming PC cause then I plan on getting a new iMac. I am using an Imac with 233 MHZ processor speed. Got it for $18.

  • I visted every Apple Keynote, and even I cheerd in the audience when he announced the new finder :-) Rock on Apple!

  • how did you get to go?

  • I has connections.

  • could u upload your keynotes to somthing like mediafire, megaupload, zshare or another file sharing site please, because i would like to download them to watch them proply. please!

  • FYI FruitLoops -- How to download a YouTube video : Use an FLV downloader or hack the FLV file from the HTML source, then convert it with an utility such as FFMPEG

  • i want the full keynotes, if you have the full thing, please put it on u know mediafire, megaupload and blah blah, or try and upload the full video on youtube (probly not possible because of stupid youtube)

  • just get firefox, then get the download helper, then download them and put them together in iMovie/WMM

  • do you know a program that is like imovie?

wmm keeps crashing on windows and i cannot split clips.

  • Windows Movie Maker should work... Are you runnog the live beta?

  • no it is the v. 6.0.6002.18005

  • I love Mac OS, I'm using Snow leopard right now (I just couldn't wait to get the better expose and battery life), but for fucks sake, Apple needs to build in better right click support. The current mighty mouse makes it too difficult (you can't push both buttons at once, and sometimes it doesn't detect a right click ).

If anything, just making right-click a Mac standard would simplify almost everything. No more need for all this "get info" and "action button" stuff.

  • I would reccomend buying a bluetooth keyboard and mouse that comes with a usb adapter.

  • All these Mac OS X releases are ephemeral, they are only officially supported for about 3 years after their release

  • pooma, jaguir

  • =.= I'm still using Panther and can't get my hands on a new Leopard CD. T_T

  • just wait till snow leopard or just go to the apple store or other shop

  • how are the upgrades highly priced for mac? snow leopard is a $29 upgrade. when windows 7 ultimate is a $219.99 upgrade.

  • Yes, but consider the rest of Mac OS X history, where upgrades where always $129, and consider that Windows upgrades last longer than Mac OS X upgrades. SL is, so far, an exception

  • apple store... apple store online....

  • "Fast Searching" looks like Spotlight to me! What wafs the difference (Spotlight hadn't come out there)?

  • lol it's true...

  • Nice video. Never used a Mac in my life but I'm a geek for user interfaces.

  • Does ayone notice that the Finder icon is at an ambivalent face? Instead of a smiling face?

  • By the way, I am talking about the fact that the Finder icon is at a =^| face instead of a =^) face.

    :)

  • Go kill yourself.

  • Of course he's stupid, he named himself after shit chocolate. cadburys 4 lyfe yo.

  • LOL, I just asked myself the exact same question...what on earth are they laughing about? Something funny about the emails or what?

  • whats so funny at 9:33?

  • Yea, wad's so funny?

  • He was to lazy to open them him self, so he just had someone make an apple script for him.

  • hahahaha great Steve!

  • OMG 100 new features !!! I know that was alot then but Steve now would say that's hardly any !!!

  • Well, keep in mind that while Leopard proclaimed to have "300 new features," Apple considered even minor enhancements to, say, Mail to account for a good 10-15 "new features."

It was the same thing with Panther. Minor revisions to the way the Finder looked and worked were all individually new features.

Snow Leopard, coming out in September, is much more honest, as it will contain low-level kernel enhancements and improvements, instead of new end-user features.

  • This is WWDC 2003.

  • Dude 5:21 is the greatest "boom" I've ever seen from Steve...triple BOOM!

  • LOL

  • iMovie, retard.

  • Also, Keynote is better than Powerpoint any day.

  • @AJComixII Because Keynote (which is not only used at Apple Keynotes.. XD) can save things as Powerpoint files and also open Powerpoint files? :D

  • @DeltaPhi79 Yerp.

  • @AJComixII HAHAHAHAHAHA. I am an avid mac user and I LOVE IT, but yeah, seriously, PowerPoint works WAY better than Keynote, any day.

  • @AJComixII Personally I regret getting Microsoft Office:mac instead of iWork

  • boom boom boom

  • UNIX POWER

  • You got the dates wrong.

    This was WWDC 03

  • They really struck gold when they made Panther. I remember using Jaguar on a iMac G3 in school once and really not liking the feel interface compared to later releases.

  • service pack? that sounds Windows-ish. and I think that apple will continue with OS X for at least 10 more years, to 10.9 or 10.10 or mabye 10.11. Plus lion doesn't come yet, its snow leopard.

  • Roy161718, you're a fucking human shame, how in the hell you can say they're minor release, you know nothing.

  • im on panther right now, waiting till i get money until i get leopard..

  • Just pirate the download. And update it, apples are easy on the licensing end when you have a mac.

  • they're iDisk amazing features sounds like MobileMe...

  • This is not WWDC 2004, Tiger was released in 2005, and Panther was released in 2003! Whoever uploaded this needs to get their facts straight.

  • They never got labels right.

  • wwdc 2003* dude. panther was released in 2003

  • It's fun watching the OS evolve. Year after year, it is loosing the "Linuxy" feel. I think that leopard has finally done that....

  • What's wrong with the "Linuxy" feel. "Boom!"

  • The "Boom" is when Steve takes a cannon to conventional thinking... LOL

  • Ai lad, Steve's a pirate :P

  • LOL awesome man.

  • LOL.

  • really only looks like crap in comparison to Leopard

  • This is WWDC 2003. In 2004 they talked about Tiger.

  • can't wait to get my G4 tower and I can finally run Panther, I'll have 5 macs now three intel macs minis macbook and soon a Powermac G4

  • G4?

  • you have never heard of a Power Mac G4, its been one of apple's most successful Power macs
