Seems to me that Freddie King got the most out of every lick and had a really fast pickin" hand. It sounds like he's all over the fret board, but he played simple licks lightning fast & the tone on his guitar was fucking powerful. Match that with his strong soulful voice, and a tight ass band. I wish I could have seen this outfit live back in the day. Too bad that FK was over shadowed in fame by the "other two Kings" Albert and B.B. Great music!
The drummer is so awesome; The piano player has the most awesome side burns; the guitar is crying the blues and freddie's voice is so smooth. These people are the bees knees.
Got to see Freddy many times, and no one had his commanding presence and chops. No one.
But help me understand - "The Superbowl" in South Carolina? The Cowboys beat the Dolphins in the '72 Super Bowl - in New Orleans. Someone tell me "The Superbowl" was a venue name...
@57Stratocat It wasn't a venue name. I live in south carolina and i've never heard of it called the superbowl or even the sugar bowl for that matter. I believe this was at the old shrine bowl stadium.
You cant beat freddy ..plenty of imitations ,some ok covers of the songs he did by clapton ect..But when you hear freddy he flattens the lot... whoaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I can get a great band together. I can probably cop all the guitar licks. But what in hell am I going to do about the VOICE???? Phew, better give up....
@39StreetProductions You weren't born in the wrong generation, you just have to appreciate what was done before some of our times. Unfortunatley, I am not sure even the people at this concert knew what they were listening to at the time. I can appreciate alot in the time I live now.

@57Stratocat I'm betting the title "Sugarbowl" is correct and the narrative "Superbowl" is not. Love his '72 ES-355 (Gibson embossed pickups).

I've been listening to a lot of the Three Kings lately.
This one here is one of my favourites from dear ol' Freddie.
Glad to know the young generation digs the blues.
