diabetes and related complications like hyperglycemia, ketoacidosis, pancreatitis, coma, and death. Side effects can develop at any point during treatment. This is not to say that people do not get depressed, or that people can’t experience emotional or mental duress, but psychiatry has repackaged these emotions and behaviors as “disease” in order to sell drugs. This is a brilliant marketing campaign, but it is not science. - too many years I was a victim of psychiarty.
finally someone who speaks the truth, you always see people who WANT to be ill so they over react the symptoms and make out they have everything listed so you cant tell if you have it or not because people lying about it. but your the first person who is honest and hopes for better not worse, i have exact same thing as you i just dont sleep alot and have a really low self image, but somedays stop thinking about it and i get angry and bored easily that i would do childish things to get attention
Is it just me or is finding a way to label oneself comforting but stifling? Don't put a stamp on it, just live. You're not crazy it's just that you aren't thinking or acting inside of a box sometimes. So what?
You look normal to me. If you have manic depression we must have a world full of people with manic depression and mental health problems undiagnosed. Perhaps we're better off not knowing about it like they don't or perhaps we'd be better of if they knew about it.
You are alot like my mother and me with your bi-polar. I think though that if you had a good upbringing and haven't used drugs you may be able to stay well without meds? (like my mother) mostly using spiritual and positive self talk. Remember this is just my comments from the experiences I've had and those of my mother.
I really liked this video, my manic depression follows a similar line to yours, and the part about your self esteem being so low that when your hypo-manic, you feel normal, thats totally how i get too!
You are not a loony , don't worry. Stop looking into things and enjoy the ride on the manic fun bus. It's better than being permanently miserable and boring like most people! Don't take pills, just go crazy and GET TO THOSE CONFERENCES,CLEAN THE FLOOR, TEACH THOSE SOPHMORES RELIGION, AND DANCE IN THE STREET! QUIT JOB AND HAVE FUN.
Also, stop pretending to have low self esteem, if you did, you wouldn't be on video. P.S. you're not really depressed. You'll be dead one day, so stop wasting life!
@ImpeachBarakObama ,,,, I totally agree with your approach, The pills turn you into a lifeless zombie, To feel ups and downs is normal and to have huge ups and downs can be a blessing if you learn how to ride them. I find comfort playing my guitar in my lows and great productivity in my mania.
I really applaud that you are able to put yourself out like this, be honest with the world. I still have a hard time admitting I am bipolar to friends and family. For the most part, I don't say a word. I don't lie, I just don't answer questions relating to bipo.
Just to clarify- Hypomania is a lesser form of Mania (hypo, as opposed to hyper). People experiencing Bipolar 2 experience only hypomania/depression, while Bipolar 1 individuals experience mostly hypomania/ depression but also with full-blown Manic Episodes. Though linked, Hypomania and Mania are two very different things. While a BP 2 person can have two or more manic episodes and then be dubbed BP 1, once you are considered BP1 you cannot "become" BP2 again and will be medicated as such.
you don't look you are mania hmm none o the thing you say make me think oh well there is something wrong you could have add also if you want to do to much, i recognize it by myself (the other day, lazy)
I'm hypo manic too. I'm over the top. Sometimes the masks come out and different personalities come through like an act of possession. Beer often opens the doors to my mania. The broken heart of a clown.
I smoke cigarettes and my appetite increases when I become hypomanic, and then stop smoking and eating when I am depressed. My cycles occur more rapid every few weeks and more so if there is any type of stress in my life. Anyone else dealing with this type of bipolar?
@missjezebela yeah i get similar symptoms among others, but the opposite, i eat and sleep lots when depressed and dont sleep, dont eat or drink and smoke lots when manic.
it sounds like it could be milder form of bipolar, perhaps early stages of it begining, how long have you been feeling like this....
i waited over 10 years and abused drugs, cause the drugs would make me feel better, but now 10+ years latter,i have a lil girl who just turned 1,so before she was born i decided to quite smoking marijuana, and all my symptomes worsend quite a bit, panic attacks, mania, depressio, insomnia, all happening very often between each other,oh and insomnia bigtime!
i went through those same exact symptoms while being pregnant, the panic attacks were major, as well as insomnia, but that part has almost vanished now 3 months after delivery. I am still going up and down rather frequently every week.
Something that often muddies the diagnosis is the following factors:
1. A person's use of drugs or alcohol can make a bipolar diagnosis difficult, i.e., what came first the chicken or the egg?
2. Food allergies or any allergy that can cause mental or physical changes in a person
3. A person's response to someone who DOES have bipolar disorder (some people are so "tuned in" to someone else that their moods actually fluctuate in sync with the bipolar-afflicted individual.
I struggle with the same questions at times. I have never been dx'd with bipolar, and most people who know me say that I'm definately not bipolar, but sometimes I feel elated, but I'm able to temper it with logic. So, my question is: are you considered bipolar just because you may not be able to temper these feelings, or are those of us who are aware of them and temper them still bipolar to a certain degree?
It's all true. My family hid it all from me and I am now just getting a diagnosis from a trained psy doc, and thanks for sharing this it helped me realize just how badly I need to find out my condition too! You seem SOOOOO NORMAL, but I get the depression part.
This video is very good. It is easy to have too many irons in the fire with hypomania. If you measure yourself and make a graph you can easily see how far your posterior pituitary gland is off from the norm. Page has said "You can stop taking posterior pituitary any time, your friends will tell you when to go back on." R.F.
