@HistoryLover1550 exactly, they treated the owl as a gimmick , what they failed to see was that it's a very important character (a gift from the gods in fact) and they could have made it a cool mechanical eagle if they wanted to honor the original and make it fresh at the same time, but hollywood studios are just too fucking stupid to care about anything other than money.

One of my best memories. I was nine when I watched this movie on -you guessed it- VHS. Man, the stopmotion animations by Ray Harryhausen are so amazing, even for todays standards!
