That is some of the finest countryside there is... It must have been quite a rush to ride that gondola down that slope! Thanks for another great escape...
Absolutely B E A UTIFUL!! Just heavenly. It's so rare to see nature at it's purest, untouched and seeing that makes me so happy. God Bless Teddy Roosevelt!
I have to ask, did you get teary seeing that for the first time? I know I would have. I was crying coming out of the mountains of Cali.
Great filming of some great scenery PappyStu! While I was somewhat familiar with Chief Joseph's "I will fight no more forever" speech, I just now went and looked it up. It makes me sad thinking about all the events which must have led up to that.
Amazing video, Pappy! Your videography story telling abilities are way beyond professional, they are sublime. It is not hard to imagine this world as it once was. I always marvel how you present history in a glorious and sensory way. Thank you.
Wonderful video Pappy...your vids are of such high quality and so very interesting and/or entertaining. It most certainly looks like 'God's country' in this one.
Heart huhs and yes we are still celebrating up here eh! :-)
My kin pull up stakes there in 1889 and drove their herd through Hell's Canyon to Idaho between McCall and Council... Of course there were no Dams on the Snake then... as the crow flies it was only 100 and some miles but it took months as the country is some of the most rugged in the west... No one seems to know why they moved after almost ten years... Wanderlust perhaps... Hard to put ourselves in their pioneer spirit...
Working swings through the holidays... Will be on the water next weekend though... I was tempted to put the footage of both Father and Son Chief Joseph Graves in the same video but it did not follow theme... Perhaps in a future production... You partied for me I hope...
The winters in the Wallowa Valley are brutal... but they migrated down to the Grande Ronde and Hell's Canyon during the season... I fantasize their nomadic lives...
