Smoking cannabis is important to me because of what it does for me, my social anxiety goes and I'm able to get to sleep most night's without the use of sleep medication. I also have friends with debilitating illnesses that medicate with cannabis for MS and crohn's and find it a safer and more helpful alternative to the potent prescribed drugs that have numerous side effects.

@skittlemaster15 Nope all coffee shops have a licence and that licence was updated on 15th May 2011 and lasts for 5years. They cannot change this until 2015 so its legal until then and after which they will prob keep coffee shops open.
For those of whom find it difficult to understand, why it is "tolerated", but not actually "legal", it is similar to Ambulances still be subject to the law, but are allowed to bypass red lights without prosecution.

Smoking cannabis is important to me because of what it does for me, my social anxiety goes and I'm able to get to sleep most night's without the use of sleep medication. I also have friends with debilitating illnesses that medicate with cannabis for MS and crohn's and find it a safer and more helpful alternative to the potent prescribed drugs that have numerous side effects.

@cindybin2001 What is wrong with getting "intoxicated" if one can even call it that if you are not hurting anybody or yourself... if you respond "common sense morals" then you are just arguing in circles and not providing a valid argument. it should consist of RELATIVE premises as well. saying that cannabis is morally wrong is just like saying that you shouldnt drink milk because its just a wrong thing to do. you havent actually proved anything, see my point.

@yamaotostrike The THC limit is just a proposal by certain politicians. People have been consuming cannabis with varying amount of THC. I wouldn't say 15% is particularly high. There are certain products in California's medical marijuana dispensary's that have a much higher THC content, like Waxes that claim 80% THC.

Me and my friends are planning on visiting your beautiful city in august (2012) to sample some of your beautiful marijuana. But major new reports claim bans are hitting the city to only allow dutch national access to coffee shops, whilst occupants have claimed these reports to be nonsensical. I haven't seen foreigners been declined purchase of cannabis. I live in the south of Holland. I don't think that if you come in 2012 you won't be able to buy weed in a shop. Enjoy your stay!

I'm fifteen and I want to go to the coffeeshop I live in Belgium. I already use cannabis but for relaxing purposes only. I smoke weed and my friends go drinking. My brother who's 18 goes often to the coffeeshops in Breda and tomorrow a friend of mine who's 18 is going and I'm planning going with him with the ID card of my brother. I don't look a fifteen year old boy people say that I look 17-18. Do you think this will work? Grtz!

@Sh0pganger Hello my friend from Belgium. It is very important that coffeeshops do not allow entry to anyone under 18 as they could be shut down and put out of business. The coffeeshops are facing a lot of pressure and they are being checked regularly. Amsterdam is such an amazing city, you could go and enjoy the great atmosphere, ride a bike all around, you will have a great time.

@skittlemaster15 Nope all coffee shops have a licence and that licence was updated on 15th May 2011 and lasts for 5years. They cannot change this until 2015 so its legal until then and after which they will prob keep coffee shops open.

@haydenj94 Hello friend, Amsterdam coffeeshops are open to all tourists 18 and over. The rules involving the coffeeshops have been extended until 2015, at which time they will look at the rules again. So enjoy your trip to Amsterdam :)
