  • The surest way to survive a gunfight is to avoid being in one in the first place. The second surest is to have proper skills and equipment as well as the mindset to properly employ them to stay alive.

  • "If I KNEW there was going to be a fight , I should have left. "

    Yep...too true.

  • Clint Smith is the man!

I had the pleasure of training at Thunder Ranch, it was the best firearms training I have ever received!

  • That's correct if you're in the battlefield, but not on the streets of 'metropolis'. The purpose of a handgun is subjective and completely dependent on environment and the rule of law. Most jurisdictions will lock your ass up if you go to the corner ATM wielding a M1 Garand. The true purpose of a handgun is to convince an attacker that just because you're 25 min. from your primary weapon, you're not going to be a victim.

  • step 1, pepper spray step 2, baton, step 3 deadly force. if your carrying those things then it automatically justifies your shooting ordeal. unless you get a lynch mob anti gun jury,

  • step 1: live in texas

step 2: shoot the badguy in the face

    step 3: have a coke

  • wish it was that simple

  • it is, you just forgo steps 1 and 2 in your scenario and you're good.

If you're being attacked, and you haven't done anything wrong, you're usually clear to use force. Although, sometimes just the threat of force is enough.

  • this guy is a gun god! "if i knew there was a gun fight, then i should of left" ha ha, i would of stayed like superman. running away seems a little smarter. ( =

  • Darn right. If you pay attention to your surroundings and use common sense..most problems can be avoided. Am I saying don't be prepared? No way. Be able to defend yourself, but just keep this in mind...IF you shoot a bad guy (and you're justified) be ready to spend $10K or more in legal fees. Don't have 10G's? ..better pray you don't go to jail. Carry pepper spray..it saved me twice from having problems (and I had a gun) Training..training and more . :) Great advice!

  • Words to live by.

  • Again, sane advice. Too many "kill em" first "rambo guys" here. The reality is is that if you shoot someone in self defense, you better be able to convince a jury your life was in danger, and you better have at least 10 thousand dollars to fund a legal defense. Better to avoid if all possible. Stay armed, but be smart like Clint. ;)

  • I'd rather be like Clint too - Eastwood, that is, in dirty harry mode - and take pieces of trash down.

Shoot the liberal socialists jury too if they want to protect the criminals rights.

  • uhh, do you people even know how you get sent before a jury? Apparently not, so let me tell you.

First, your district attorney must charge you. If you don't get charged, you don't even see a jury.

Secondly, before you go carrying a damn loaded gun around you better read the concealed carry laws for your state and KNOW without a doubt what situations are legal for you to kill a person. If you do this, you're relatively safe from prosecution, because you will have shot the motherfucker legally

  • Remington 870 Shotgun and H&K USP 45. Enough said.

  • "Their great

    I got it

    No problem"

    LOL!

  • Well I know that a fight is coming in America soon. I won't leave though. Handguns are smaller, lighter and easier to LEGALLY carry. Try walking down the street with a concealed rifle LOL

  • What fight is coming soon to America?

  • The collapse of the dollar... introduction of the Amero and while all this is happening our economy will greatly restructure itself and people will not know what to do when the food markets get shut down (especially if they live in a big city), martial law will be declared either because of this or if another "false flag terrorist event occurs like 9/11 (there are MISSING NUKES).

I can go on. Get a gun, get some good camping gear fortify your house or move to the hills!

    I could go on... :o)

  • you can't be serious.

  • Yes I am serious. Wake the fuck up! Chances are, you're the type of person who is going to become the victim horde when the lights go out, and you'll be waiting in a government bread line, not me.

    MORON

  • RON PAUL 2008! :D

  • yes we do know that. but we are only 10% of the population. even now people are only just waking up. they can see you posted this a year ago and put 2 and 2 together, but so many others say 'whatever'. check out my youtube account page [name click] and you can check out my bilderberg protest vids. I'm uparmed for the fight. long live the ideals of the original republic!

  • Handguns are to fight your way to a shotgun or rifle.

  • Is this guy serious?

  • are YOU? handgun engagements last less than 7 seconds at ranges of less than 15ft in general. If there's to be a REAL fight...I would be aiming for my M4 or my 12ga, depending on the situation. any type of real-world tactical training would tell you that. Handguns are close range and last resort weapons. Rifles are used to fight fights. That's why EVERY cop car in America has at LEAST a 12ga. MOST now have an M4 also. Bad guys are getting more techno. It's time good guys do, too. God Bless.

  • If I'm an armed citizen (concealed carrying) doing my daily routine and I find myself in a self defense situation where I have to draw my pistol, do you honestly think I am going to "fight my way" home to get my rifle, come back and end the threat. If there's to be a real fight that I know was going to take place, yes, I would be better prepared.

  • I think you are taking what he said out of context. I think he was talking about going to battle, your sidearm being a backup to get you to a real weapon, a rifle. In day to day life we can only pack around a pistol for concealed carry because anything else is totally impractical. But if you had to go to battle, you would of course, bring a long gun of some kind.

  • He's talking about handguns in a certain context. The other context, that of the unexpected, he failed to address HERE, but has done so many other places. This guy knows about as much about fighting with firearms as you CAN know..

  • great words of wisdom

  • well said!

  • Eggzactly correct.

  • Eggzactomoondo! LOL

  • Doesn't get anymore simple than that. *golf clap* LOL.

  • Good advice.

  • 10/10

  • i love it a handgun is there to help you get to your rifle, sounds like the words of a soldier
