Yes Kyokushin can beat other styles like muay thai but they have to train first at keeping their guard up. Depends on the practioner though some have a good guard.
Did you guys have the misfortune of seeing this gentleman fight Wanderlai silva? not only was he retired from competition he was out of shape at around 250lbs apprently....I can never figure out the japanese obsession with seeing their previous heros mowed down by current ones!
Prehaps if they put him against choi or someone who at the time was a lumbering giant with little to no skill who would of posed an awkward but entierly winnable match for him.
Kyokushin is focus on Striking . Competitors can kick to head but not punch . It's the first and MOST influential style of full contact karate. As you see , Kyokushin Karate has many and various Kicking techniques than any other Karate style like Jumping spin back kick , Inside & Outside roundhouse stretch kicks , jumping reverse kick or jumping double kick and More . Oyama added the Korean kicking techniques into Karate . As he said that Kicking is more useful and various than punch .
Yes , I think so as Kyokushin techniques are very hard and Kyokushin combines many style of Karate . But I think Muay Thai is the most difficult one to compete . Muay Thai techniques are very hard too and they use Knee and Elbow . It's quite lethel . The other styles , I think Kyokushin can defeat them .^_^
For Example , We can see that Kyokushin is Full Contact that is quite realistic fight . They fight without protector gear so the fighters are train to be like Iron Man . They must be so strong . Unlike , Tae Kwon Do that focus on Scoring and using protector gears , this make TKD become weak ( in my opinion ).
Kyokushin guys have great leg kicks usually & are also inch perfect in the basic kicks but their guard & punches usually let them down dramtically in kickboxing also alot of them like to use some of the more flashy kicks when a simple front kick or roundhouse would of done, but thats a practicioner issue not a style based issue.
TKD is weak because they mostly teach irellivent things & therefore mostly use irellivent things imo tkds issue is 90% of what they teach is rarely useful.
Yes , I think Shotokan or Goju Ryu are quite old and traditional look soft and powerless. But Kyokushin is quite modern and the techniques are both useful and dangerous. ^_^^_^
Right , Masutatsu Oyama , the founder of Kyokushin is NOT Japanese , he's Korean. His old name was Choi Yeung-Eui . He first trained Korean Martial Arts ( Korean Kempo and Tae kyon I guess ) . As Korea was occupied by Japan, He went to Japan to studied as Military Pilot in Yamanashi Aviation School and then learn Shotokan Karate from Gichin Funakoshi and Goju Ryu , he also learn Judo . He founded Kyokushin in 1953. You can see in Korean Movie "Fighter in the wind" 2004 based on true story of him
wow that was a fast ippon ^_^
