PLEASE, stop using that laser pointer. It is NOT a good choice for someone with unsteady hands. Remember those wooden pointer sticks with the rubber pointed tip? That's the ticket! Lose that laser pointer. It is very distracting to the message you are trying to convey. Laser pointers are best used only when pointing to something that is far away from your own arms reach with a pointing stick. Outside of that, they are a toy that diminishes credibility, comprehension, etc.
referring from the (Understanding The Numbers): Is indoor wetbulb the indoor ambient temperature? Eventhough, the superheat dropped lower the 2nd readings nearly half which is @ 18 degrees isn't that still on the high side? Shouldn't the super heat be somewhere under 10 degrees? if so, how would you repair and what was the problem. Your response is greatly appreciated. By the way this is a wonderful video. Thank you.
i found the other day that the outdoor condensing unit / heatpump was off. i found wall stat calling for AC at 88 dergree indoor temp indoor blower running. contactor not pulled in. muliti meter check from C - R outside shows me 27 VDC from C- Y shows 27 VDC. why does multimeter show me 24v voltage between Common and red terminal but there is not really voltage there even at the air handler board inside same thing replaced T-STAT and problem is fixed just.

anyone here who graduated from a hvac school no if the schools are teaching right because seems like all my schools around here including the one im in are shit, its just seems like im not ganna be able to get a job when i get out, and most that there teaching seems pointless
hey aviles7, its called textese, or what ppl use when they communicate with text messages or IMs. and FYI i left a good career to become an ac tech just cuz i wanted to work with my hands...try doing that you jealous loser. btw cool active reversing valves are common in the south..to keep them from sticking.
hey guys got a problem with a goodman heat pump i tried evberything but i cant get my head pressure up past 150 psi my suction pressure is fine the women has 2 units one is heating and the other i lost can someone give me some tips on what to look for please
now he said in cool the o termanal would have a voltage... dose that mean the reversing valve is normaly set to heating and it only has voltage when the t-stat calls for cool?
Please tell me why when I hooked my guages to the heat pump thay both peged out.but the unit is heating ok.Also are both lines going to be warm or hot? Thanks
When a heat Pump its working on heating reverses the refrigerant flow, what that means is that your condenser coil will become you evaporator and you evaporator coil will become your condenser coil.
That happent because the reversing valve reverses the flow on the refrigerant, so if your checkin pressures on heat there should be a service port near to the R.V. your High Pressure will go there and your low/P. will go in the high side.
hvac student here and it looks to me like this too. it's weird to get my mind thinking so much in a elect. way but seems that so much HVAC problems are elect.
must problems actually have to do wit dirt ..dirty evep and condenser coils, dirty drain-lines.. then its deff electricity...kno your basic electricity kno how to find a short and how to use your meter, and last kno your refrigeration cycle...kno wat cuases high/low superheat and subcooling...never stop learning and practicing.

I was taught that you can measure voltage at both sides of the contactor because of the resistence through the coil.

great video. 99% of reversing vavles are in the heating mode when de-energized. There are a few exceptions, Climate Master being one.

please someone tell this hvac student why i am seeing so much bad stuff about goodman systems.
what is goodman doing that makes this so ?

dude22573 3 years ago
yes, most HPs are in heat mode with no volts to the reversing valve (except Rudd - which is the opposite)

very good. the best hvac/r techs are the ones who are electronically enclined. elecrical components are 80% of system problems these days.
i would be excited to have you on my team.
