It's weird when he mentions Paulette Godard, because Jena actually does remind me of her quite a bit, come to think of it. I wonder if that's why she was chosen for the video.
Awesome-So glad to see people shooting on Pro 8. I'm currently shooting a Film myself using the same format. "ESCAPE" . You guys did a wonderful Job,seemed like a blast to make and the colors so vibrant.
The guy sounds a bit like Simon and Garfunkel and forgot Jena Malone was in Donnie Darko. Any idea what camera this was shot on? Just asking since I can tell it was shot on motion picture film.
I don't know how Malone can top this music video with Sucker Punch.
@CommadoreUsted He is Paul Simon's son, but enough with the juniper and roses shit. Ya know? It's 2011 and I would think P. Simon's son would have a more expansive vocabulary (and maybe an original thought) cause there IS talent there.
@LollyLouLa I agree. This sounds more like a parody of Simon and Garfunkel than anything else. Shame though, I bet this guy has talent, but this here is just a lazy rip off another's work.
Brilliant tune. Great singing. But 'pretentious & mediocre' video. Sorry. Your songs deserve a more natural & abstract imagery. That , is said with respect for your musical talent.
I think I was the last person on earth to 'twig ' that this Paul Jnr !! LOL !! However always loved Pa and this is just SO beautiful in its own right, love love it x
Heard this yesterday on the radio' i was convinced id heard it before' thought it Was paul Simon, what a perfect clone of his fathers is this guy..Brill song.5*****
A truly memorable song! Beautiful Words! Powerful Emotions! Tells a beautiful story and will be as memorable as some of the songs of his fathers! Another "Simon" hits the the streets!!
I've GOT it! The chord progression is straight from "Dangling Conversation" ("and you read your Emily Dickinson, and I my Robert Frost"...); the lyrics, of course, are partly drawn from Scarborough Fair. Quite an ear I've got, eh? : ) Some may call it copying, I think it's a clever ode.
Interesting how the live recording at the radio station sounds so drastically different and un-Simon and Garfunkel-like... seems like he resorted to mimicking his father's duo to get his music sounding decent.
This was shot on a Classic Pro Max 8 . Scanned to HD on the M2 in 444 RGB 10 Bit. They used 3 different super 8 negative film stocks, Pro8/01, Pro8/07 and Pro8/19. Yes this cost money but not as much as you might think.

I came to see the super 8. But then, wow, what an amazing song! I'm hooked. I think I'll listen to it squeezed between Paul Simon and Donovan on my playlist!!!
The usage of Super 8 film makes the footage appear 20-30 years older than it really is! Quality cinematography like this inspires me to bring 8mm film into my market of Film and VIdeo Production here in Portland, Oregon.
He looks older than his Dad..strange..
