  • giorgio tsoukalos hair style

  • Maybe technically perfect. But nothing compared to Horowitz in interpretation.

  • great work

  • Very emotional

  • ..the best pianist in the world!!!

  • This is not his best video of this, have heard him play it better, too busy playing

to the camera. There was a better version by Kissin but was deleted some time ago. Try other versions to see the difference there are plenty nowadays. Kissin's just not up to his usual high standards, he has spoiled us. Covering about 8 different emotions in 2 1/2 mins is not easy..

  • One of the greatest pianists of all time

  • Scriabin probably thought since I'm up now to no 12, it's time for my own revolution etude...

  • jewfro galore

  • extraordinar, nu am cuvinte

  • Well, that's a fairly good rendition, extremely maniac and tormenting, as it should be, but alas, his tone is very hard, almost bombastic, destroying the phrases and the music's natural flow... At last, he has surely understand Scriabin's temperament, while on terms of musicality and phrasing, he has a lot of work to do...

  • @DeliusAlkan ahaa.... so, your version of the piece, may i hear it mr specialist?

  • love them ..Kissin and Skrjabin :)

  • Generally Kissin is superb, but this one I dont like.

  • One of the best!

  • Ummm...for those talking about the dynamics of Scriabin's recording need to take a quick history lesson: it was recorded on a PIANO ROLL. In other words it has no dynamics at all when played, it simply replicates the notes played. Meaning that there is no one alive who can legitimately claim to play closest to his intended dynamics, because we few if anyone alive today have actually heard him.

  • @jasecloud4 lol wtf r u saying

  • This is exactly how Chopin would composed if he lived more. Scriabin up to Op. 10 is pure Chopin style. He had a Glorious exemplar though!

  • @aggrorulz Really? Well Liszt also used to compose in this direction, when he got old. What a pity that Chopin died so early. Seems that Scriabin and others filled this gap!

Do you think that Chopin would have composed also atonal pieces?

  • @Hicksbosone no not at all.... can a poet say ugly expressions when all what he's thinking is dropping down from heaven

  • 0:05: *kissin: stfu crowd* 0:07 *crowd: ok kissin*

  • Love him!

  • 87 people think Vladimir Horowitz wrote this piece. There's a recording of Alexander scriabin himself playing this on ampico. Compare recordings and see who comes close to Scriabins dynamics.

  • @ChrisWatch I have heard Scriabin's play it. That recording is horrible and has no dynamics, maybe it's the age. Also Scriabin was not conisidered to be that great performing, Rach did nothing but all-Scriabin concerts whle he was in Russia. Kissin's dynamics and phrasing are closest to Horowitz, the acknowledged master. I like Kissin's performance, it's worlds better than Lugansky and others who try to play this.

  • @ldhmage That's the problem with modern day thinking. You don't care much about the composers music, you care about the hogwash romanticized gooble gobble dribble any self-indulgent can think of. Scriabin was crazy, his technique was in a different world, something you obviously can't relate to. Vladimir Horowitz is a great pianist but he knew how to sell his stuff, what you hear is Horowitz trying to make sure every audience hears the piece. Same with Kissin. But, scriabin played closer.

  • @ldhmage There are those who listen to music and there are those who understand music.

  • Outstanding! It's the interpretation and the phrasing, passionate!

  • Eugeny Kissin...super ...excellent!!!!

  • 85 people can tell the difference between a piano and a drum set

  • @JCruz5987 at least. and you're clearly not one of them.

  • Good.

  • great performance indeed

  • To my point of view, Kissin is the only one who succed to understand and play the piece correctly, with the good phrasings, dynamics, energy. He makes live the piece like no other pianist have ever done.

For me, this piece can only be played with a strong emotion, like a storm, a hurricane, as if a powerfull fire burn inside of us. An explosion of energy !

    Like Kissin does...

  • 84 people failed to have his hair!

  • @vietbaonv lol... : )

  • I remember the time when i saw Kissin play for the first time at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra... That guy is just incredible and there will absolutely never be someone as good as he is... россия вперед, Женька!!!!

  • Mi dispiace x quelli che lo criticano eccessivamente, ma Kissin è veramente bravo

  • Great Sound Great Dinamic just Marvellous, & he feels Real Tempo

  • Great Sound Great Dinamic just Marvellous

  • !!!!!!! мастерство!)

  • H-O-R-O-W-I-T-Z

  • All is in the hair!

  • At 2:11 he is a human again.

  • A true master. He has technique to burn, but has an extraordinary sense of how to perform Scriabin. MCB

  • I think he Just want to show us that he plays very fast.

But he is not paying attention to the musical phrases they are all the same there is no attched and diattached phrases.

the best versrion is Vladimir Hrorwitz'.

  • @Tader321 No I think the other guy is right. Sorry dude. If you listen to Horowitz perform this, with him slowly building to a crescendo at the end of the piece rather than blasting off at the start in full forte.

  • Il tape sur des bambous... listen to Horowitz please before you say stupid things.

  • No one can beat Horowitz at this etude!

  • hmm, it´s rushy and loud... Maybe today he would play it better.

  • He could do better.

  • Since 20 years im a musician, and i know whats all about that creepy prodigies...

If you want to put passion in your music, you need life-experience... Such a "kid" its not supposed to play such kind of music, cause of absent lifetime...

Just watch some of Hamelin´s or Horowitz´s peformances and you will appreciate me.

  • Is sounds like playing a midi-file from Logic 9... no feelings, no passion, just playing notes standing on a sheet of paper...

  • @GotanProject100 no passion are you serious? you obviously were not actually listening

  • @MrNewchange who is in your opinion?

  • amazing!!!!

  • I like his hair.

  • @Cassermain

I like his playing more .

  • @Cassermain

I like his piano playing more.

  • @Cassermain ahahahahahahahahah!!!!!

  • The Best pianist and musician of the World.

  • @pallerzsebet91 A very good musician and pianist, but the best? Absolutely not.

  • @yvesvangelre Subjective... Opinion

  • @pianistsan True, and so is yours.

  • @pallerzsebet91 Wrong.

  • @ASirensSoliloquy he is a excellent musician, however hes not the best.

  • @darrens888 Tell that to pallerzsebet91!

  • @ASirensSoliloquy huh??????

  • @pallerzsebet91 Youthful energy and exuberance yes, but the best, no way.

  • he probably goes through like 3 pianos a day lol

  • Kissin is almost the greatest Pianist alive, and a great representative of Russian musician

  • INCREDIBLE.... KISSIN DEFINITELY ONE OF THE 5 BEST PIANIST ALIVE! it is a petty i cannot find a ticket to see him in salle pleyel in december.

  • Still amazing how fast Evgeny can play this piece without loosing anything at all. Most newer pianists who attempt this piece loose character of the piece for the speed. Great performance.

  • Kissin probably understands the piece even better than Horowitz does, because he's russian himself. He goes stronger and weaker through the piece to enchance the feeling. On the other hand Horowitz plays it strong at first and then goes down in different sections. Makes the piece more american/hollywood alike. Like more suited for a movie. It's just taste. I like Horowitz's more in this case. His interpretation is just more appealing to me.

  • @Ianthe22 horowitz is so savage it's tactical. I love kissin; but it feels so 'color by the numbers' compared to horowitz. Don't get me wrong; it's all there. But there's something lacking in his performance. He get's it at the end though so mayby it has to do with what you're saying :O

  • @planetamer YEs it is very artificial the performance of Horowitz. But fo me it's what makes it so very likeable liek the background music for a Hollywood movie. But i do agree on that he shreds all the feelings Scriabin put into the piece. On that note Kissin's performance is a lot more original in it's feeling. Although both versions are very different from one another they are both good..

  • @planetamer i find them both special performances horowitz has a bit more agitato and it seems a little contrived also the ending is a bit scruffy, however it is still brilliant also the pianos are quite different

  • There're no such a pianist like kissin. He's so special!

  • 1:42 HOLY BUILDUP BATMAN

  • what a freak!

  • He might as well punch holes in rocks with those Herculean fingers.

  • An amazing artist is one who can satisfy himself, not his audience. For what concern is his that his audience is dissatisfied if he is satisfied. Music is an art, a personal thing. A private discussion between instrument and player. Saying that the piece was played wrong is a redundancy and common misunderstanding of what art, or music for the matter, really is. How can art prosper in this modern society when one dares to criticize is, when one has no knowledge of it! It is of the soul!

  • What DVD is this on?

  • They don't show it but all the strings in the piano ruptured as he hit that last chord...probably...

  • This is the very best version of this(except Horowits') that I've ever seen.

  • @nleguellec Definetely except Horowits'!

  • this is the best thing ever. i just can't get over it.

  • @ZekBlek

All said by someone who has music of eminem in his favorites. how dare you place comments on art with such filth in your fav list.

  • @bolawarrior you don't know who I am , you don't know my life so what I put in my fav is not for you , you better don't start to talk about me , take care yourself .

  • by all means argue about music but just reading a row on the other hand is not entertaining.

  • One of the best interpretations of this piece! The dynamics are wonderful, powerful and always within the frame of this superb performance. Really one of the most outstanding pianists within more than one generation!

  • Beautiful

  • This video looks like a joke

  • ///

  • Oh I wish I'd written this.

  • EFN-Every F..cking Note.. his friends gave Evgeniy such nickname once. Genius, pure genius!!

  • fffffffff

  • Best Scriabin peice

  • Am I dreaming or it's real?

    Fabulous is not enough.

    Bravissimo!

    Pios

  • evgeny has the best dinamicks and expression, not to mention his perfect timing,,,worlds best!

  • BEAST. I dunno why people like Horowitz version at all. Horowitz makes lots of mistakes, kissin plays it clean and brilliant.

  • @bluesaphirexx18 - what!?

  • BEAST

  • best version here on youtube....

awesome playing.... would play it in the same way....

  • IMO Horowitz plays it better, I wish kissin would play some parts quicker

  • Nice but not as brilliant as the Horowitz version. Watch how relaxed, how much more effective Horowitz uses his hands... . More soul with less movement. Kissin is a great pianist, but never will be at the same level as Horowitz. Of course that's what I think... LOL.

  • @yvesvangelre I agree with you about horowitz who is according to me THE best but kissin has the advantage to be still alive so let's speak about that in 10 years

  • @yvesvangelre Agree, It is Horowitz, always will be. Hear Gilels Scriabin 2/1?

  • Kissin is a GOD!

  • The recording quality is awful, my goodness!

  • Встроить надо

  • nice afro dude

  • R.I.P. Kissin

  • @CherryTomatoCruncher

are you out of your mind? he's alive, moron

  • @magicprophecy hahaha.. so funny

  • @CherryTomatoCruncher

    what? he's not dead

  • oh so much energy I'm gaining from this!!!!

  • Kissin for sure is a wonderful pianist, let there be no doubt!

IMHO, the best version I've heard of this piece is (of course) by Scriabin himself (although it is a piano roll recording). Next is Horowitz, showing also great musicality. It's a piece with great musicality and other parts with strong character.

In Kissin's version, I miss the musicality.

  • I wish I were in that auditorium... My computer's speakers aren't 9-foot piano strings!!!

  • I think this is very good, well played. But I do think this is how Groucho Marx would play it. :)

  • is this a parody?

  • @daemonturk ,

listen this without watching, then you'll see it's not a parody :)

  • IDK... WAHT DO U THINK?

  • Kissin is good like piano like caterpiller on non-brown leaf!

  • bang-fest??? .... wtf.... this is real art !

  • bit of a bang-fest but good

  • This piece sounds like Rach's 5 etude, or it might me liszt 5 trancendental, you know what i mean

  • Russians are very strong pianists !

  • not all of them!!!

  • @ZekBlek better yet, Russian Jews are strong pianists.

dunno what to say, Kissin is the man

  • @ZekBlek, as the matter of fact Kissin is a jew

  • @alibekoralbay yes he is , and ?

  • @ZekBlek, you called him russian in your comment and it is quite not so. So this is my point.

  • @alibekoralbay you need to learn something , Kissin was born in Moscow n he is pur russian jew pianist ...I know him in real life , funny man .

  • @ZekBlek I am talking about his etnicity and he is a Jew and not Russian. I was not talking about his place of birth.

  • @alibekoralbay you don't know what you are talking about...he's russian jew n not jew...

  • @ZekBlek maan you conradict yourself - he is a jew and he is a russian jew 2. Bottomline. The topic is closed.

  • @alibekoralbay The topic will be close when I'll say it , actually you said he's a jew n not russian , now you saying he's jew n russian jew , means he's russian anyway , dun make your lame excuzes...Like I said , you dun know him , so better don't talk about him , now topic is closed .

  • @ZekBlek you dumb fuck he is a Jew he is not russian. You should wipe your ass with your brain.

  • @alibekoralbay waouh ! so poetic !

  • @ZekBlek If you were talking to me in real life you wouldn't be so brave. You would be like a silent sheep. I d make you my bitch trust me.

  • @alibekoralbay really ? You make me laugh too much my pal , actually I'd kick your ass in the street with the .50 , then I pass out of sight like a shadow n the story is end there.

  • @ZekBlek in order to be russian you must have a russian blood, Kissin has no russian blood for he has jewish blood therefore he is jewish. The fact that I know arabic does not make me arabic. Got that?

  • @alibekoralbay I got that you understood nothing , you better shut the fuck up on this topic .

  • @ZekBlek suck me sideways.

  • @alibekoralbay seriously guys??? who the hell cares if he's russian or jewish, just enjoy the music!!!

  • @alibekoralbay Oh my, Judaism is a religion!

  • @ZekBlek YOU RACIST MOTHA FUCKA

  • @SUPPLEANDFIRM ??? you've taken too much lsd...

  • @ZekBlek really? i hope i could be a russian pianist

  • Kissin is amazing, and this is one of the best versions of Scriabin's etude!

  • ...sei perfetto Eugeny....non smettere mai ....

  • He looks like the guy from Kid n Play. He should get a box cut :)

  • Amazing talent but I do believe he decided to go with the "afro" hair style for showman purposes.

  • "jewfro"

  • yeah, but he wasn't born with it. He probably gets perm done for his hair. His hair is just very curly if you can find a picture of him shortly after a haircut.

  • isn't it? er I mean isn't he? XD

  • LelaBay that sounded very funny

  • bueno kissin es increible yo podria decir que si no ya es llegara a ser el mejor de la historia IMPRECIONANTE

  • I love Kissin, and I think he plays a great Scriabin. Whether it is the best or not is all in the ear of the beholder, haha. One thing I love about this is that Scriabin sort of forces Kissin to put a lot of emotion into his playing. I consider Kissin to be a technical master, focusing on playing fast and perfect and less on emotion. This piece forces him to show emotion, and I rather like it! ; )

  • i love you very much evgeny

  • No se que hacer, esto es para mi algo que me rompe el cerebro.

    SINCERAMENTE.

    No me canso de escucharlo

  • I've several times listened and watched this piece played by each of Kissin and Horowitz. Neither performance touches that of Van Cliburn. I find his interpretation the most musical by far - and much less of a bang-fest.

  • I love Kissin!

  • Ridiculous... What a powerful performance!... That poor piano ;)

  • Didn't our buddy ALF play this in one episode with even more intensity?

  • lol

  • I like this very much. Kissin understands Scriabin, unlike certain individuals that I won't name.

  • sometimes i wonder what am i gonna do without this music

  • 1st time i hear Scriabin.... yes yes i swear. Seems that some notes are lacking, or that the track is jumping like in an old 45 vinyl. Something between delay or advance. Not usual to my ears, but so expressive. Human feelings are so complex. Anyway, the Music is here. I dont knox Mr Kissin, but he plays in a powerful, expressive way too, such a clarity as "robertslistening" said... when the interpret meets the composer?

Very happy for a first time. Some advices for future listenings?

  • @MrPeko22 Kissin, always Kissin !!!! you will find some chopin playing from him, rach piano concerto, beethoven's work as well !

    my favourite anyhow

  • The key word with Kissin...power. I've listened to a lot of speed technicians. I haven't heard anyone play scalewise motion with the power that Kissin can, although I wish he would take it easy on the overall volume at times. His clarity on his recordings is wonderful. I can hear every note so clearly...and speed to go with it.

A wonderful pianist. Definitely in my top 5 in the world. I think he plays Liszt and Rachmaninoff best. Some of his chopin is a little harsh. Still my favorite.

  • adoro questa meraviglia, ma il talentuoso Kissin sembra il mio aspirapolvere !
