  • I have to sing this for a school musical!!!! With a boy......lol

  • lyrical special dance song!

  • Beautiful xx

  • Irene Cara= voice of an angel!

  • Lea and Amber did this song justice :)

  • Dude, wait!!!!

I need to know they kiss afterwards?!^^

    love the song! XD

  • came here because of glee project :p

  • I watched the remake. When this song was done by Naturi Naughton, I thought SHE WAS WONDERFUL. YET..... I ALSO STILL LOVE THE WAY, IRENE CARA, SINGS IT. WOW....I wish I could sing like that. I LOVE you BOTH.

  • THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG ITS INSPIRATIONAL U SHOULD LOOK IT UP AND ALSO THIS IS NOT A LITTLE GIRL SINGING IT!

  • Irene Cara sings the *blank* out of that song. Bravo!

  • Goshh, this is much better than the remake o_O !

  • @aivyelisa

sure, it is a love song.

how could they make a little girl sing a love song?

Bizarre at best, perverted could also be used to describe that.

  • Believe it or not, I could see Lady GaGa remaking this song and singing it to the audience while playing her piano. The words to this song are beautiful and would also relate to her as she is singing to her fans. I could see it now, she would turn it out.

  • 10 people cant make it on there own

  • I was always at my happiest in the company of actors or dancers - something I was once blest with. :-) xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • why does every site I go to have to be an argument!

  • Awesome lyrics, song, singer & performance!!!

  • hume s song. break you hart.but you can live never,

  • The new FAME isn't a remake. It's simply an updated version of the original film.

  • has anyone found thaaaaaat piano version's sheet anywhere in the Internet? If yes, please contact me, I would be very grateful! :)

  • @Nackenschelle

Yes. I downloaded it from itunes.

The five cokes I would have had anyway without this great song!

  • I was born in 92 and I originally saw the newer fame first then I bought the old one and realized the new one sucks and I watch the old one all tha time I'm in love with this movie it inspires me to go out and conquer your dreams!!!!

  • When doesnt the film indrustry realize that the originals would make more money if the put them back in the movies than some stupid remake

  • This scene is tattooed in my mind when I think of Fame.

  • No Coco! Don't reveal your breasts to that dirty bastard in 1979!

  • beautiful......

  • Out here on my own - Irene Cara (Fame)

This is how I have felt for a lot of my life, please take the time to listen to the song, it is beautiful.

    On my own in California,

    Lori

  • @ atifee

I beg to differ! I love her haircut...cute lil waves....she sings with such passion...got to love this song

  • Best song of her career!

  • Irene Cara, a singer, musician, actress AND dancer. She did it all.

  • this is absolutely incredible! I used to play this song on the piano. In time, memorized it. Then, I lost the sheet music! ARGH! I forgot how to play it. I need to go back and buy another sheet music [might be written differently now]. I loved this scene.

  • This is a song that will never grow old or lose a following.

It reminds all of us about being young and wondering what will happen next in our life. The movie reminds us to never give up on our dreams.

  • One of my all time favorite movies

  • irene sounds like a baby donna summers /they both have big powerful voices

  • i love irene cara to pieces, and i like the movie "fame" so much. but wow, her haircut is more unfortunate than i remember! :)

  • i know you like musical theatre so have a listen to me singing out here on my own from fame the musical i sang it at a competition i was in called edinburgh's got talent and i got 4th place. please remember to rate and leave a comment if you enjoy my performance. and once again thank you for you're support. it really means alot. kelly. xxx

  • I'm 14 years old and I'm watching this scene from the original movie of fame because my mom suggested I watch this, and It's so beautiful, I think I cried!

  • Love it ! Gives me chils and tears Every time :D

  • sentimental bullshit...

    :)

    5 stars!

  • damm must learn to play Piano......

  • or u could just find someone to play it for you!!:)

  • Its so good its almost bone chilling. A awesome movie.

  • Seriously awesome way better than the new movie

  • The best performance ever, Irene is amazing.

The original movie will never be exceeded.

  • chillls!

  • Out here on my own, nobody sings it better than Irene Cara.

  • Irene will forever be immortalised as Coco in "Fame". I agree, this movie cannot be remade with the same integrity, heart and soul as the original and best movie. The original movie reflected a snapshot of a very early 80s New York and encapsulates so well the dreams and hopes of these young characters in their search of "Fame'.

  • the latest movie remake of this film will ruin this film. much better if they shown the original film for the younger generation to see , feel, what a great movie this is

  • Just watched the 'remake'... it was like a messed up storyline copy with highschoolmusical type vocals and music... there were some amazing parts to it though (the footage of some of the dancing material was breathtaking, and some recordings were nice recordings), it just didn't feel real... nothing can ever beat the original

  • @redgecko30

I agree i would have loved to have seen this film , i was just searching for the song because i was doing fame in my local theater recently and i just loved this song <3

    :)

  • @redgecko30 you may not AGREE with the quality of the film, but to say it will ruin it is ludicrous. I mean, this film is nearly meaningless to anyone born after 1990. the newer one continues the legacy of Fame, but keeping it true to the generation that should be watching it: my generation, the most recent one (generation y), the original is for generation x, and the emotions and feelings are different in the generations.

  • @pokemonffta2 how can the newer film continues the legacy of FAME, the movie sucks bigtime. and i disagree to what you say the younger generation will not like the old movie. man, so it means that all those good movies before are all crack to ur generation.don't be ridiculous man, ur generation are crap, even the fashion of todays generation are influenced by the 80"s the same era that this movie is made

  • bloody hell they're gonna ruin this film

  • could watch this scene all day baby!

  • THIS is how you do it!!!!!!

The remake can NOT remake THIS one!

    THIS is perfection!

  • I had to give you a plus for this one. I wholeheartedly agree with this. Better people have tried to sing this. Some of them are good but Irene has seriously set the bar pretty high.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • There is no way in hell a remake can recreate a scene like that. Priceless. Oh, by the way, if any of you have the sudden urge to see Halloween II--bury that fucking urge. I mean kill it. Just watch the original and call it a night. It is without a doubt the worst movie of the decade.

  • @SandCmpbll lol a typcal case of anti-progression and fear of the unknown. Not that your opinion is wrong. FOR YOU, this scene can never be recreated, however I had a much easier time connecting with the newer one, because I live in this generation, and the emotions conveyed show how my generation feels. I respect your opinion, but for me, the newer scene is much more relatable.

  • @pokemonffta2 How can you say at the end of the comment that you respect somebody's opinion when you start by calling the other comment as a typcal case of anti-progression and fear of the unknown ? Anyway I agree with you. A cr*p generation would really be only be able to RELATE with the cr*p the film studios throw to the public now-a-days. Please buy both, compare and use a bit of common sense. If you have some, that is. By the way, feelings are intemporal and universal, and don't need update.

  • she doesnt rly play piano

  • not in the movie but she really does play in real life.

  • @kidblonde1

hahaha i love that thats all you can say to this video,

not "wow she has an amazing voice" or "you can really feel th emotion in her voice" or this original is by far th best we'll ever hear of this song or thif film!"

u douche do u think anyone actually cares if she played that herself, its her acting and her voice that make the song, it would have been lovely if she had played it herself but what can you do?

  • omg chills down my spine totally awesome

  • I love it ! She`s very talented!

  • In that movie Bruno had a crush on Coco, and she had on him, but she was thinking SHE was not worth it and so their feelings for eqach ended up uncovered.

You can see this in this scene.

  • Two of my favorite '80s movies are being remade (Fame & Footloose). I'm looking forward to seeing them. I just hope Hollywood doesn't try to remake 'Flashdance'.

  • God, this movie is such an inspiration

okay well i do not want to sound bad or wierd but i am a singer and i am recording a verison of this!

so you know, if you want to hear young singers hit up my page. [:.

  • comparing remakes to originals is like comparing vomit to food.lol.

  • i absolutely love this song :)

  • i can't even tell you how many times i've seen this movie. this song is great and the movie is a classic.

  • this song is on SUPERSTAR

  • piano fail.

  • ears fail...

this is a copy from a screen.

  • it looks kinda like hsm a little this scene maybe this was a little inspiration to them

  • LIP SYNCH FAIL

  • it wasnt a live show ppl always lipsynch in movies or music vids lol

  • I am in my forties and was in HS when this movie came out the first time so I am biased. No one will ever be able to sing this song the way Irene Cara did it. They should have left well enough alone with the remake.

  • I don't know what I love about this scene. Her interpretation is gorgeous. Their chemistry is fantastic and his is so convincingly in love with her.

The fact she is singing this song about herself is so bittersweet.

  • Look at how Bruno looks at her. Classic!

  • I love this song so much!

  • I'm singing this for my voice lesson class...I'm supposed to listen to it so I can hear how she sings it.

  • same here lol.

  • Great song. Thanks for the post.

  • I only know this song when Nikka Costa is singing it! she is a little girl with an amazing voice !

    x

  • you're so right. I like Nikka's version better than this eventhough Irene Cara is an awesome singer.

  • For some reason whenever Irene Cara had a scene in the movie, I was glued to the screen. Maybe its because she was my first crush!! She was sooo cute, hair and all! lol

  • i love this movie and this song

  • I love this song, I have to sing with my singing class with Michael Ellicot (the guy who taught Zac Efron how to sing) =]

  • ;3

Love this song. It's my solo song in Theater High.

  • They should show reruns of Fame on TV there's a whole generation of kids missing out on this classic telly. I know my daughter would love it, she cant get enough of the movie dvd.

  • love it!

  • I remember when Nia Peoples sang this on the Fame TV Show. I loved this show. I have the first season on DVD. I wish they would release more seasons. I have the sheet music and I'm learning piano so I am going to learn to play this.

  • She is very talented, but what is with the shag-helmet-fro? I don't think her hair will ever come back in style. That's not a hair-do, it's a hair-don't!

  • PREACH ON!

  • one of the wolds best singers and u comment on........... her hair. deep.

  • I think they were mimicking Donna Summer. Listen to the singer and the song.

  • Woow.. she is .. uuf...

    this song is simple.. Perfect!

  • LATINAS STAND UP!!!

  • This is something else!!! Remind me of drama school

  • Oh My.. you are taking me back. I song this in the 7th grade talent show. I love it/ Thank you

  • she is brill better than me! lol

  • yh she is better than u actually xD

  • I remember using this for an audition too. Hardly anyone had seen the movie yet except me and my piano player. I was able to mimic this pretty well. It felt great to have people stand there with their mouths open. All I did was copy Irene Cara though. So it was very plagaristic!

  • She is wonderful...

  • I remember when this first came out, then it was made into a tv series. Ohhhhh, what memories! Damn, what a voice she has!

  • baby belong to me. I love this song reminds me of my girlfriend i love you helen xxx
