Irene will forever be immortalised as Coco in "Fame". I agree, this movie cannot be remade with the same integrity, heart and soul as the original and best movie. The original movie reflected a snapshot of a very early 80s New York and encapsulates so well the dreams and hopes of these young characters in their search of "Fame'.

Just watched the 'remake'... it was like a messed up storyline copy with highschoolmusical type vocals and music... there were some amazing parts to it though (the footage of some of the dancing material was breathtaking, and some recordings were nice recordings), it just didn't feel real... nothing can ever beat the original

I mean, this film is nearly meaningless to anyone born after 1990. the newer one continues the legacy of Fame, but keeping it true to the generation that should be watching it: my generation, the most recent one (generation y), the original is for generation x, and the emotions and feelings are different in the generations.
