  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!! WHY DO I LIVE IN PHOENIX!?!?

  • Comment removed

  • I was fortunate to have an outdoor olympic sized town rink "directly" across from my home, unheated room to lace up with firehose to resurface, steel sheets with handles to scrape the ice, shovels and full night lighting, nets. We,the kids manacured & prepared the ice every night. It's gone now.Use to travel To Montreal to compete.Small outdoor rinks and ponds everywhere.Pure-Hockey-Heaven.

  • @Allstarpedroia Someone bringing to you food & water?

  • i used to live in michigan and we would play everyday and put flood lights out so we could play at night we would honestly play until we felt like we would get frost bite. now i live in texas and i miss it so much

  • Wow i can not wait until it get's cold enough to play in Minnesota. best thing ever playing after school with your bro's

  • ”Call them pros, call them mercenaries -- but in fact they are just grown-up kids who have learned on the frozen creek or flooded corner lot that hockey is the greatest thrill of all. - Lester Patrick

  • I live in montreal.. outdoor hockey is greater than any feeling on earth. Its in my blood, its in my heart its in my backyard. Pond hockey is much better than any hockey league in the world. I won the stanley cup alot of times in my backyard. Outdoor hockey is my life and every winter I become alive.

  • What I would do to move to Colorado and have a frozen pond in my back yard. I could have my friends over and play hockey from dawn till dusk.

  • @Krash0verride I couldn't put it better myself man, great comment through and through! Wasn't a huge fan of the tournament they covered but the movie is amazing for pointing out the purity of pond hockey and how it is "where it's at" because EVERYONE can play without a coach, parents, or being cut from a team... Certainly the purest of all hockey.

  • Outdoor hockey is best in Northern B.C! Come visit sometime!

  • maine baby. every winter of my life to date. never gets old.

  • I watch this alot and it hits a speacial place in my heart this is a great video it is all so true ill get up at 7 get to be the first ones there and skate till my legs are rubber and i cant anymore nothing in the world is better than pond hockey i could do it every single day without a second thought

  • Colorado pond hockey is amazing. I love it. It definitely makes winter one of the best times of the year.

  • Nothing beats Pond Hockey, check out my channel. i have a 3 on 3 game recorded from my company pond hockey tourney. lots of fun and u can watch my uncle fail miserably lol

  • I just love hockey history and culture.

  • das ist das wahre hockey !!!!! i lovit

  • @barsch77 well dude heres the problem now a days kids wanna play hockey on a indoor rink instead of an outdoor rink i mean yeah sure it has heat water and food but are you really gonna go for that instead of something that your gonna reflect on for the rest of your life and say hey this is sooo much fun i think im gonna do it again tomorrow or every day during winter or watever

  • @54chaingangsoilder thats not true everywhere

  • what do you mean "lost" art

  • It's where it's at!!

  • greast sport in tghe world

  • at 1:08

    isn't it Mark Webber?

  • Playing on a farm pond is great; if you lose all your pucks there's always a well shaped frozen cow pie nearby.

  • I wish i could play pond hockey more often i've played it once and it is so much better than indoors.

  • Hockey for EVER !!!

  • Im playing pond hockey tonight in Windsor Ontario! Cant beat it!

  • Doesn't get any better then pond hockey. Hockey is the greatest sport on earth.

  • alright. who the fuck disliked this?!

  • oh ya hockey is so much better then any sport

  • damn straight. you never get sick of this shit

  • I live in Texas and skate the ice about 4-5 times a week for about 1hr 45min, which you think would be awesome, but I would trade all of that just to be able to play a game of pick up on a frozen pond in my backyard any day... Hockey is the best sport ever.

  • @txstonedrummer14 There seems to be a lot of people from TX that watch this stuff looking at the comments. I am from western New York but now go to Texas A&M. My brother and I used to fill pop (coke) bottles with water, carry them to the end of my driveway and dump it on the ground to freeze a sheet of ice to skate on, took days to do. We later bought a tarp and made a little pond then put spot lights on it. I used to play every night and skate until 1-2 am, I miss it so much.

  • @mateofaith yea i fuck'n hate where i live there is only one sheet of ice and that is where the minor league team plays and my midget hockey team practices. which is south texas your lucky you got to play pond hockey because there's a part of my childhood i'll never get back

  • @txstonedrummer14 Oh man, from someone who grew up in Canada, I can tell you there's no feeling like it! We literally would show up as early as we could and literally not leave till well after dark every day we could. I can't even explain it...

  • pond hockey is how the pros learned. and look where it took them.

  • pond hockey is so amazing, every time i go outside i can forget the time.. something i can't really describe

  • pond hockey brings canadians together

  • pond hockey is the best

  • i used to play pond hockey as a child. but where i live now we have mild winters, no pond hockey and so i have to play in a beer league and drop in hockey and i hate both. puck hogs, long shifters, and other assorted assholes trying to relive their varsity days. that is pretty much what organized adult hockey is all about. and expensive too! you pay $300 per season to spend a few minutes on the ice each game. that is like 2-3 hours total PER SEASON!

  • @otlil other than the puckhogging overshifters, 300 per season isnt too bad. right now i'm paying 1500 for a season in highschool hockey. i'm so happy that northern new jersey has cold winters. this winter was my first time i played outdoor hockey and it was great, especially cuz its free. i feel for you though. it took a while for my parents to trust me to go on ponds (less than 3 feet deep!!)

  • @tonyfruits oh yeah, youth hockey is much more expensive. especially the travel leagues. expensive, too organized, too much pressure and time commitment. and all that to get 9.5 min ice time and touch the puck a few times for the total of about 20 seconds on average per game (according to research mentioned in Peter Twist's book). let the kids have fun! pond hockey all the way!

  • @otlil yeah, well, i work over the summer so i'm paying for most of it. to me, i think its worth it. i go to the hackensack ice house in nj, and they are soooo strict with ice time. pond hockey...as long as i can see (and the pond is frozen) good luck trying to get me off! pond hockey just has that feeling you cant really describe. dam though, every time i watch this i just cant wait for winter to come already!!!!!

  • gawd i miss pond hockey

  • pond hockey was ground zero its where the tradition of the game started its a magical thing. There's absolutely nothing like it

  • now its like 36 :(

  • i live in new york and thank god i do. the pond is always frozen, and its so much fun to just go out and play hockey. I LOVE POND HOCKEY!!!

  • Hockey is magical

  • this pond hockey is ok...not as badass as my pondhockey vid.

  • POND hockey is SWEEt, so glad i live up here its like 6 out : )

  • sucks living in texas playin hockey. we all dream about having a pond to play on. we'd be on it 24/7. we get out of school early for drop in every day, and get usually 2/3 hours of ice time a day with practices after drop in, but its just not the same.

  • i live in missouri and the ponds have actually stayed frozen enough to skate on, and it's amazing. im 16 and i got to play ice hockey for the first time yesterday.

  • same here i live in Pennsylvania thoo, but its a great feeling playing hockey on a pond i love it!

  • im playing all time at our hockey field its awesome 12 minus but always as fun.

  • W/ global warming how do they keep the ice frozen?

  • lol global warming doesnt meen the tempature all over the world isnt guna go up 40 degrees in one day...iv been playn on my local pond for the past 2 days

  • god i hope the ponds freeze by me this year

  • ponds froze this week just got home after being on it all day

  • there is no better feeling than playing pond hockey at dark with the lights on, a thermos of hot chocolate or soup, with a light snow flurry......... that is absolute heaven

  • pond hockey is amazing

  • what song is this

  • We had 3 outdoor rinks within walking distance of my home in Winnipeg but my favourite was by the high school.Who can forget lacing them up in the dimly lit unheated wood shack while you watched your breath stand still from the cold.I usually wore 2 and sometimes 4 pairs of socks depending on which brothers skates I was using and laces were often made from pieces of other broken laces. The bright flood light overhead and cold, clear, starry winter nights are something I will never forget.

  • pond hockey still lives here in quebec...!pond hockey rules ... every we flood a back yard rink at my house !pond hockey is were everybody can be named sidney crosby , dany heatley etc

  • Had a 400 x 200 pond in the back of my parents house growing up in The Hudson Valley NY, back when winters were winters. NOTHING LIKE skating and playing on the pond! I would even head out on the full moons.

    Thanks for the video.

  • too bad i dont live in the midwest, canada or far up northern new england. dont get that kind of cold in new jersey

  • canada? this was filmed in MINNESOTA! for those of you who have never played pond hockey, this is what its all about. playing indoor on some fake ice is not hockey, its still fun i do it every day, but when your outside is so much better. it doesnt matter if its 20 below, u dont even notice

  • I got to play outdoors a couple days over the recent Martin Luther King, Jr holiday weekend. It was the first good outdoor skating we've had in our region of Northwest Washington State in a couple of years. You should've seen the look on my 8-year old son's face when I said "You know, in some places they do this all winter". He's ready to move! Great film.
