I think it's somewhat of a mistake to link the rejection of any new ideas with Capitalism. Look how much anti-capitalist stuff gets published, particularly in the area of music. What are the top selling albums of all time? They each contain strongly anti-Capitalist statements.

It seems to me the philosophers themselves are pretty closed to real alternative ideas today.

These days you can self-publish anything if you got the cash to get your own book printed. If not, I would recommend Amazon's Kindle e-books. I have four different titles published with Kindle books as Susan Lee. (nothing off-color in any way, though). You could certainly explore your own philosphy and have it published on Kindle if you simply keep it all "clean".

No. Einstein was wrong about quantum mechanics. Was he an idiot? No. Furthermore, your statement about "I think, therefore I am" is incorrect. "I feel therefore I am" is just as valid as the former, because feeling is a perception, just like thinking. Why would the Central Nervous System come first?

first of all he established that you might not even have a body, in which case sensations would be highly dubious

secondly "I think therefore I am" is a simplistic translation, it's more like "I think therefore I am IN THE MOMENT WHEN I THINK IT" though you may think you have thunk in the past doesn't mean you actually did, but at that moment when you even consider your existence you must exist in order to make that consideration

Descartes takes us through the stages of doubt one by one and concludes that no, we cannot be 100% sure that we have a body, for all we know we are plugged into the matrix or a brain in a jar ("deceived by an evil demon")

that is not to say he actually BELIEVES that is the case he just admits it as a possibility

so to continue, Descartes is not being sceptical for the sake of it, he means to raise doubt in order to banish doubt.

The point is even if you are at the mercy of a great malign deceiver the fact that you can conceive shows that you exist IN SOME FORM OR ANOTHER

IE. The only thing you can know with certainty (at this point in descartes thinking) is that you EXIST, he then goes attempts o rebuild knowledge from that foundation
