was looking at ats an seen they have a bored out 5sfe block for a 3sgte build an was wondering if you ever heard anyone doing this i found most forums bash the 5sfe but i like the lower torque, an very nice mr2
@MrTNJFILMS Well if you did some research before you posted you would know that a ct27 is rebuilt ct26 from ATS racing. Externally they are identical but internally they are completely different....
I'll be getting a swap done on my '91 na soon, 3rd gen 3sgte. Can this turbo bolt right on without mapping or any building on internals? Just trying to find out if it would be too much for the stock motor.
Hey Roninkage, I don't know if you still have your MR2, but I was wondering if the CT27 was worth it? I've heard a lot of reviews on it and how it was compared to the CT20b. Just wondering what your thought on it was...Thanks.
@glowboi209 if your looking for a easy bolt on turbo that works with everythig oem on your mr2 the CT27 is a great choice. more so than the ct20b. ct20b's cannot be rebuilt due to the ceramic internals. performance wise they are identical imo. just the ct27 with ecu on 91 octane fuel at 18psi i dynoed at 265whp thats over than 300 to the crank. if you desire more then bigger turbo is the way you want to go with proper supporting mods of course.
@glowboi209 my thoughts on on anything about upgrading the turbos is there still a ct 26 at heart not a very good turbo past stock. i had the upgrade t 67 and i wasn't getting high end power still a lot of bleed off. so i finally got a t3 manifold got me the garret gt 3582 yes its a very big turbo but its some much more better then anything. i cant boost full till after 3000rpms but i have more power after that then i could ever touch with a upgraded ct 26. so a nice gt is better i think.
Sonds nice, sounds like it's on low boost. I'm trying to find someone in my area to help out with a swap like this for my '91 na. How much is invested here if you don't mind my asking?

when you install the ct27 on a bone stock engine does the car require any tuning? or will it run just fine?

wtf is a ct27?
CockYaLegS 1 year ago
@CockYaLegS a ct27 is modified ct26 from ATS racing.
roninkage 1 year ago
I got that, but what exactly is done to it? Enlarged compressor wheel? Exhaust wheel? Is it clipped? Etc?
CockYaLegS 1 year ago
@CockYaLegS they replace the compressor to a TO4E compressor wheel and cnc the exhaust housing to increase flow.

Ct27 upgrade was told promises 30-35 hps. That looked like too much smoke for a rebuilt motor and turbo, unless it was cold outside. I cant tell.

It was cold outside, notice the driver wearing a hoodie and a knit beanie.
