  • the best way to recharge a electric vechicle is another electric vechicle!!!

  • @MrJetjoe your comment = RUBBISH

  • @TheWindMillMan if u don't belive it try it your self, It realty works, no bullshit

  • @MrJetjoe Hi Joe,

Sory but rubbish again, the best way to charge any battery is from mother nature eg wind, solar or gravity water this way you have done no work and in a round about sort of way this deifies the laws of physics as you can get something from nothing, and repeatedly though this bike just draw out the inevitable flat battery for about 40% longer charging on the down hill runs ( but these are the uphill runs on the way back (shit))

    regards

    TWMM

  • @TheWindMillMan what would u do with a genarator that runs for 55 hours at full load and 2000 wats.

  • @MrJetjoe pump water up hill into a storage area which can be run off as required in a hydro setup, so you can at lease save some of the power you seem to have made, and make use of it

    regards

    TWMM

  • @TheWindMillMan i will never text u on anything ever. ur a dfah

  • @MrJetjoe sorry J

we do this into a reservoir at night to cover high draw power at peak times(as the burn runs a small hydro pump to top up reservoir) eg breakfast toaster kettle cooker same for lunch and tea time plus electric heating

may be I should have said this first, soz again hope this resolves my answer

    TWMM

  • @TheWindMillMan ok, I though u were another utube ass hole I accept. I have thought of making a genrator that used a water tank and syphin hoses to recurit the tank. but someone did it and with a much smaller tank than I though it would take.

  • @MrJetjoe oh about your bike u don't need the batterys if the tredmill moter is gen. the power. but u do need the pedels to get u going. if u have the right speed controls. sometimes if the direction is not right they will smoke so make sure they are set up right with a battery and bolth moters opp. in the right direction!!!

  • @MrJetjoe yes you are correct and I did many thanks have a wee look at my other videos on power generation

    regards

    TWMM

  • @TheWindMillMan the more people that know about this kind of stuff the beater, spread the tech. I u want to spred my battery powered genarator tech. good luck, cheers.

  • @MrJetjoe you really need a loch sized tank with 4" diameter pipes to get usable power

  • @TheWindMillMan and if u have a battery bank of 1000amphrs that takes 5 hours to fullly charge.

  • HAW dont dis us Scottish People

  • @topgearmad12 nay bother big man

  • Dont understand shit but i love you anyways :D

  • i can't understand anything

  • @bigfoot6433 that is a terrible affliction I have problems understanding Chinese writing and that raely gets to me

    best regards

    TWMM

  • I only understood everylast word

  • @Dannyisgreatful sorry I do have a rather thick scottish accent

    TWMM

  • maybe you should check the fork alignment it looked wonky. might help you go straight down the lane better.

  • @horacekemp that will be the single malt whiskey, we get it free in scotland ,as you need to dilute the water with it, cant remember the last time I drunk water straight.................

  • I don't quite understand how it works but i think it's something i thought about and YOU gave me feedback that it might work ; My english is bad , i know , but i wanna ask you : as you pedal the bike , a generator motor is giving power to another motor and makes pedalling easier and allows you to pickup speed ? your battery is being charged while giving power to the wheel motor ?

  • @TheKaos90 No power is made when peddling, unless its down hill and the generator is switched on to generate( normal operation like up hill or on the flat generator is off or disconnected) when generator is switched on to charge the batteries it has to do work and this causes the bike to slow down, so it is only used with assistance like gravity on the down hill or a strong wind in you back all to help push the generator round to create the recharging effect.

  • @TheKaos90 part 2 the recharging can be done all the time should you fancy a good workout but it never gets easier as you cant get one to power another without losing energy and then it would lose it charm as an easy peasy mode of getting about for free not bad for an hours work and all salvaged from the tip for free bike treadmill motor and E-scooter one mans rubbish is another mans gold

    have a good day andy

  • i dont understand. how can a self charging bicycle work without an altenator and why wont an altenator work?

  • @sweatyss alternators are fine just fit a bridge rectifier I build 3 phase alternators to charge batteries just needs to be a PMG thats a permanent magnet generator

ebay brushless stepper motor AC and google stepper motor wind turbine for some good get you going reading material thats were I started parts from old printers and plastic pipe blades

    have a good one

    cheers andy

  • Say you take a 10speed mountain bike, mount an electric motor and run a chain to one of the rear sprockets... then mount a car alternator, run another chain to another rear sprocket... then mount a battery, wire up your wiring and switches and what have ya. Alternator continuously recharges the battery. Please note, I've never built an electric bicycle before... Think my idea would work?

  • @Obsessedwithmotors no. The car alternator as its name suggests is an alternator AC & needs a DC current to excite the coils inside (min of 47watts), to get its coils (electromagnets) to start to work, if you used a permanent magnet motor it would work in conjunction with an on and off switch, and a blocking diode, as to power all the time without a manual switch would be hard work and the and the diode to work a a one way valve, only power into the battery not out or it would work as a motor.

  • Is this some kind of a joke? This cobbled up heap could never be counted on to get you around. Eat My Stinky SHIT LOAF. Y U M ! ! !

  • @waterfordjmmmmmmm- cheers my good man love your attempt at having education, though your written English is some what pedantic I would therefore guess you are a frustrated yank, technical attempts at educating your type of dump squirt with even simple explanations as you are the lesser educated dump squirt are usually a waste on time and you are a dead lose I knocked this up in 10 minutes can you even get dressed in that time

PS did you hire someone to type that for you dead loss boy

  • @waterfordjim- please" try harder" to be nice, I bet you seen that on a few of your school report card "MUST TRY HARDER".

    Andy

  • war ya fae?

  • @jockrockwell -

    Argyll and Bute West Scotland

  • Please tell me where you got the sprocket from!

Not a single website sells a #40 bicycle chain sprocket that

    will fit my motor shaft.

  • @DwayneLeroice salvaged it off the E-scooter i got the motor off

the bigger the better less speed but more torque so less peddling

  • @DVMsucks learn scottish

  • i too dont understand why this isnt being developed, i typed in e bike with an alternator on google and on you tube and of both places this is the only thing i have been able to find, they sell e bikes for 2500 bucks and the dont have alternators on them , WHYYYYYY??

  • @newpage123 - build your own for free get all the parts from a rubbish tip

    cheers bud

one mans rubbish is another mans gold

  • This is awesome - I've been looking for a way to @self-charge@ for a while and been toying with a few idea's - could you put up a wiring diagram (even a rough sketch!) for this, as I'd love to use it for my bike.

    Cheers

    FMOTL - Stakur Ulfur

  • @xSTAKURxULFURx - no diagram just switches for on and off to change the two circuts to the battery as bot can be run at the samr time but that would be a waste of battery power as nothing is 100% or over efficient

    power in>power out always

    cheers andy

  • Hello, i love your invention and im just curious, how fast can you go on the bike without blowing out the treadmill motor?

  • @e3magdnim2 the treadmill is a 180VDC at 4200 rpm so I could only imagine a speed of that rpm on tread would be 30MPH ish

  • Love the commentary, the whole thing is just so cool! shed engineering at its finest! I think I can see that the current going into the batteries is proprtional to speed but do you have to regulate the voltage going into the batteries in any way? excuse me if its a dumb question, i'm only a Geordie!!, cheers Martin

  • @fatbaldmartin Hi Martin No voltage regulation needed, as the batteries clamp the voltage down, and as the EMF would rise if voltage unclamped, then this extra voltage then is what drives the amps up, so also geny speed - EMF(electro motive force) - amperes - are proportional in a perfect machine( not this one its a wee bitty rough) I think

  • @TheWindMillMan Thanks for the clarification, love the clip, went to your "channel" (is that the right name?) love the projects, this is the spirit that made Britain Great (sorry if including Scotland in Britain offends, for me they could move the border 70 miles south and I would be happy!!) Best Regards Martin

  • Hey bigman, any chance yae could gees a wee break down aye yer wiring fur this contraption? Iv'e got a 24V 180Watt motor, wid that da fur charging up a battery if I hooked it up like yer bike motor on a sprocket? Or wid I need a treadmill motor tae charge ma batts.

    Cheers

    Tam

  • @TopCat7 - I it wid work aw ya huv tay day is tay get it tay turn way the back tire like it wid way the auld dynamo type rubin own the back tire inget wit wire is the + in -, run the - tay the batury, in run the rid wan through a switch so yay cin pit it own in af, bit yay cin only charge wen yur goin fast enough tay pit power back in tay the batury ,so use an amp meter so yay no if you ur pitin power or usin power, if yur no charging pit the swich aff aw rite lits no if yay goat that mate

  • @TopCat7 - part 2 Tam jis make sure thit it make the proper +ur - tay charge as i did mine way 2 moturs own switches here wer ur ya fae in ul try in help yay oot way it umfae helensburgh era

  • so with the charger(thats basically the same thing as an alternator right?) how much does it increase the range with your battery?

  • @Leiflton - by about 60% not the best result but a good enough result from scrap and you do save on brake block as you can use the treadmill motor as an electric brake so 60% saving on brakes to.

  • @TheWindMillMan i think this is incredible. this is proof of concept. you get more efficient systems to extend the range to over 100 miles per charge, and you have innovation and a possible business. i dont understand why this is not being developed. i just ordered a cyclone 1200 watt kit and if i get time im going to find an alternator.

  • Wow, really excellent - congratulations, and good continuation in your job

You can also see on YouTube, the assembling my electric bike. Thanks

  • @jeanlucvar all for free now that entertainment though i did put a few pownds on round the waist with not having to peddle as much cheers for the coms

  • How many watt does the motor have?

  • @Menelius91 200w to drive, and half a horse power DC to charge

  • If you ever need to make the world understand what you're saying, you will have to lose that Cockney accent.

  • what can i say

    Cockney - london - england

    Glaswegian - glasgow - Scotland

    450 miles out

  • Now why would you go to someone's videos just to act like an ignorant. If you feel like you know better than other show us what you can make.

To TheWindMillMan: It's never a good idea to argue with an idiot. People might not know the difference.

Thank you for the great Video

  • u have the worst english ever

  • super comment though pedantic are you very young, good to see your written English much better than mine, do you have a cerebra hemisphere deficiency of neurons or synapse problems, or just to much Synovial fluid in between your cloth ears, well done getting nearly a full sentence together, keep up the good work son. LOL

    Kind Regards

The one who built this mean machine in 10 minutes could you (can you tell the time)

  • @SitNDum cheer am Scottish minted

  • This is awesome. Any chance you have specs posted anywhere? You should add a 12V DC out so you can charge things while riding.

  • @Zoasterboy - sounds like a plan, but the wind mills charge all i need this is just a little helper to the bikes batteries working life time

    thanks for the advanced thinking

    thewindmillman

  • @Imheretotestify if you dont grow up dick weed i will remove you from my comments list the net has enough spam on it with out our empty comments

  • @Imheretotestify thats right they should hire you. please get on a plane soon. stay gone. i am afraid you dont know what you tube is. But, the good people of you tube do. you are shitting where you eat.

    thats not good.

  • @datzfast well said my good sir ,its great to feel needed, and i dont think that american twat or in american dumassis needed here!!!!!!

    kind regards from Scotland

  • You can understand the queens good english sir, its must be an american problem, are your ears painted on or cloth?????

shame you cant get it over there, but then it is technical stuff you know

    kind regards

    Scotland uk

  • Damn I could only get 1.5 amps max on my stationary bike with a treadmill motor I have that has about the same stats my motor must really suck.

  • can you send me some photos of your setup and what are the motor specs and a rough wire setup and i will have a look and try to help uou out with its output

    kind regards

    andy

  • In the South East UK many speak like the BBC, the Language differs expedentially the further North you go, i am midway -half way up, so are lucky & can understand most accents from Herts to Lanarkshire.

Bit like New York compared to Tennesse.

  • @wind4watts Berm-eng-aam, lol

  • We Americans can only recognize every other word. Nice looking project.

  • Hey Andy, I had to come look at it again . I love this one. By the way ,,,, nice shoes.

  • May I ask how you put the bak sprocket on the back tire, weld?

  • any way you can centre it i drilled and platwed to sandwich the spokes of wheel

    hope this helps

    andy

  • i have a small booklet on how to do this or similar if you are interested £3.00 +P&P

    kind regards

  • where's you pant

  • its trooooooozzzzzusr

    ask yur misus

    woop de doo

  • Brilliant idea, And sure can't beat the price. It would be interesting to know the difference between watt hours in from the genny vs out from the batteries.

Do you think the downhills are sufficient to run multiple gennys? I have to admit that the regenerative potential exists and you may as well take advantage of it 8-10 Amperes is a respectable output from a bicycle for sure

I doubt I could pedal hard enough to generate that much

  • I only charge on the down hill runs and 6 - 10A does have a very strong braking effect on the bike, and thats 250Watts back into batts, but not all the time ,so i do use more power than i make. motor i think was 150W draw, but helps drag out the run time, and it all helps rough bot ready and it works not bad for 40mins work

    good coms

    andy

  • Andy your worse than me!!! lol lol

  • vic hows you hope you r well been over on the sat as per usuall you no in

    reg

    and

  • what rpm is the motor

  • dont know guess 2000 rpm no load

  • i bi i find it funny when people dont know what your sayin... i wouldnt know iether but i spent a summer in newfoundland and they speak the same

  • kind regards

  • Oh, you're a Scot. I thought your accent was from Yorkshire but what do I know, I'm French.

    Very interesting video. Thanks.

Anyway your invention is very interesting. Only someone living in hill country could have come up with it.

But now I'll never think about the Highlands the same way again. "My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go."

  • why I man

  • shame it a good subject and not to technical rough and ready

  • for sure man, what ever you say..

  • nay bothur big man pure magic

    andy

  • Goan yersel Bigman :)

    Tam

  • fantastic best of luck to you mate!

  • lots of fun and It can carry me about town so rather proud of a thing i built for free easy peasy

    regards

    andy

  • Andy, I think it's cool man! Make some kind of lock down and release from visegrip clamps or something, that way you can release it when ya go up hill?

  • Actually I have and even better way i have a switch actually a circuit breaker and wired sowhen tripped the charging circuit is broken so generator or treadmill motor can free run but on the down hill i flick it ti closed circuit and the charging begins and also works as an electric brake so i have total non machanical control over the charging and when and have had 10A at 24V being banged back into the bateries easy peasy were you from regards andy fae West of Scotland
  • Nice work..

  • why thank you

  • It charges itself?? Is there resistance when it charges? ei: harder to pedal? If so, then it cancels out when it assists you.

  • I only recharge on the doun hills so electric brake as well as recharging scotland does have a few hills about the place

  • Maybe it's cause i am a Northerner i can understand most all of what he says,he comes up with some good innovative stuff! (also like Whisky aswell).

  • I dont belve my english would be that bad, but no matter how hard I try, I cannot understand a word he says XDDDDD Maybe the Irish or scottish accent+ the wind blowing off the mic XDDD

  • He is a Scot (could you not tell by the knees?),If you send him a bottle of Scotlands finest,I'm sure he will provide a translation! :)

    He does great work eh?

  • I wonder what would he do, if I would send him a botle of good old " Tesco 10 dollar whiskey" XDD (worst on the maket XDD) Yea, im totally satisfied with his work though :) I like these home-made science projects :)

  • uch i am thinkin, if a canny drink it, i could wash my engine way it lads

    cheers andy

  • sorry i didnt were my kilt maybe next summer then lads

  • OUCH come on lad can you no see i have put a tread mill motor on to charge up my batteries on the down hill runs and i have had 8A out of her at 28V so not too bad for a home made self charging bike

my accent is a wee bitty broad but since most of the world do have a problem i now speak slower so i can be understood better

    regards andy

  • WHERES UR PANTS !!!

  • it wers yur trooooooozurs lad if um now werin ma kilt am werin ma sufary shoarts

  • baggpipes ha ha I married a baggpipe and she has a great set of pipes on here if I give her the chance to flare up, uch naw but nae jokin the wife pure magic um so lucky gid comment but take kere big fellar

  • Put a bagpipe on it, it will be perfect.

  • if that bike is made under scottish control than whers the optics on it ?

  • dont need optics the bottle is in my pocket

  • i like what youve done there, i bet its pretty efficient that bike. perhaps try converting a broken sinclair C4 that way you could actually keep the electric bits dry and out of sight.

  • Well this looks pretty cool. I would build it but I have no freaking clue as to what you said. NONE of what you said made an ounce of sense! :(

  • what in the world language is this?

  • He's speaking in Haggis!

  • Oh, I thought it was english but just very bad.

  • Emphysemian?

  • do you mean chronic obstructive pulmonary disease i dont sound that bad do i

  • haha, I was only kidding

Somebody asked what language that was, I made the joke "Emphysemian" because you were out of breath.

    Great video, thanks for sharing.

  • I think the guy is from Scotland or something and betweeen the gravy-thick accent and the technology I couldn't understand a thing he said. Um... LOOKS like a brilliant idea though
