Off the subject. Just beat the game! Good overall but TOO MANY puzzles! No place for puzzles in an adventure game. Must be at least 20-30 if not more. Complaints about puzzles in game call KONAMI at 310-220-8330. Hopefully the next one has no puzzles or animals stealing our relics/magic.

@tomahawkboy0787 There are some framerate drops in 360 in times where you just travel and the game tries to be too beatifull. But it's really nothing and i never had any framerate drops during fighting which is very imprtant

Why is it that every third person hack and slash is compared to god of war. IT"S THE GENRE @_@ just like first person shooters it costs too much to deviate to a mythical expectation cod games are the same but i hear nothing of this, look at games like homefront there are only small differences.. it's life. in CV LOS the graphics are stunning with encouraging voicing the story is more in depth if heaven forbid you read @_@ there are scrolls entries and documents that carry the story

i rented this because i can't play god of war 3. i heard it was a clone. i was a little disappointed. i didnt give a crap about the story and the gameplay was average. but i finished it on easy and felt i got my rents worth.
This game is not bad at all. It's just not Castlevania, it's Lord of The Rings. Or at least that's how I felt for most of the game. If I had to complain about something is that the game was too easy.
@brunobb1 Yes, I did. I died a few times in the last few chapters but not as many that I would think the game's too difficult, it gets really easy after you finish it in normal and are familiar with what you have to do and also, the game is designed so you can take advantage of the enemies while fighting them, so it is not that complicated if you master blocking and using your magic well. Try playing Demon's souls if you want a difficult, unforgiving (but very good) game.
@andoc agreed. I played this on Hard Mode on the 1st playthrough and took around 10 days (couple hours p/day). I wouldn't classify it was 'easy' but every enemy has a weakness and it's there to be exploited. However, I feel this incorporated great balance because by the time you learn to fight efficiently and use parries/ magic when needed, those harder enemies/levels become more bearable so it evens out and doesnt interrupt the pacing. It's the mario 2 of the cv series yes but enjoyable as hell
I just beat the game and I have to say that I probably enjoyed this game more than God of War 3. The visuals are very good and comparative to GOW 3 and it has a good variety and is much longer than GOW3. If you like the genre this is one of the best of its kind! I did find the puzzles a little easy....but I guess that means you spend more time actually playing the game then trying to figure out the game. Good review....I agree 9/10.

This was one very epic game. The level of detail that was in the environments and the animation of the monsters was just amazing. The combat was great and there were puzzels and platfoming to give the gamer a break from slaying monsters. The controls were excellent and responsive and the story was just downright epic. My only complaint was that I had no control over the camera and at times my view of a monster was blocked by objects in the environment. Overall score: 9/10.
You say sucessfully but for hack and slash fans, you just dont get it, I remember God of War fans say that Dantes Inferno was a Ripp off.But Dante had differences, This Castelvania has the same cutscenes styles of Gow. the same finishing moves (you choose to kill with square or circle, (Dante) Shadow of the Collosus at one of the Bosses i mean what the hell man.

I do agree that graphics don't make a game. All of the elements need to be top notch. But this game has more than graphics. It also has a decent story, absolutely breathtaking music, and great voice acting.

@StopForChildren i agree resident evil got fucked up and the latest final fantasy was crap too. hell even the new front mission was totally different and all sucked for it but this game pulled it off well. platformers at the time were hack and slash of that era anyways given the limits of what the production teams could make so this really isnt all that much of a change up.

This game is practically nothing like the entries in the Castlevania series over the past 24 years. Not to say that this game is bad, I quite like it a lot, but there will be many fans who don't like a change of pace and immediately assume that it's crappy.
@StopForChildren It has whipping, climbing, puzzle solving and a gothic setting. The only thing that could possibly make it feel more like the old CV games is if it was a 2D sidescroller. But what would be the point in that? It's a 2010 reboot.
If you want a game that is 100% like the oldschool CV games, then go play THEM.

@SuperNinjaBros yeah it has 1st the the game is 20 hours long then after u beat the game u unlock the hardest difficulty, u want go back to previous levels collecting all the items u missed the first time through plus for each level there is a trial for u to do such as dont lose any life or do this level in this time. the main replay value is play the whole game again its that awesome i prefare this game to god of war 3

The best looking game on the xbox 360. Inmersive. Great action. Great story. Intense. Difficult, but not too much. And clever designed puzzles (Don´t usually like puzzles). Awesome. Is in my top 5, that´s sure.
So what if combat's similar to GoW? Castlevania was already leeching off Metroid, jRPGs and horror movie clichés years and years before LoS.

im talking about the game play, castlevania has always had the chain whip mid range attacks since like 20 years. the first 3D castlevania came out before GoW and its game play was also the same. see GoW copied from Castlevania and all the other games I posted in my other coment.

This was one very epic game. The level of detail that was in the environments and the animation of the monsters was just amazing. The combat was great and there were puzzels and platfoming to give the gamer a break from slaying monsters. The controls were excellent and responsive and the story was just downright epic. My only complaint was that I had no control over the camera and at times my view of a monster was blocked by objects in the environment. Overall score: 9/10.

You say sucessfully but for hack and slash fans, you just dont get it, I remember God of War fans say that Dantes Inferno was a Ripp off.But Dante had differences, This Castelvania has the same cutscenes styles of Gow. the same finishing moves (you choose to kill with square or circle, (Dante) Shadow of the Collosus at one of the Bosses i mean what the hell man.
Shame for Konami if you like it its ok but for true Castlevania Fans its a Dissapointment.. its cool but Graphics dont make a Game.

@StopForChildren Okay, I see your point, and I respect your opinion. But from my critical standpoint, I just cant afford to call a game a "rip-off" of another game. I only judge it as a piece of art, the only care I have in the game mechanics are related to how smooth they are.
I do agree that graphics don't make a game. All of the elements need to be top notch. But this game has more than graphics. It also has a decent story, absolutely breathtaking music, and great voice acting.

Games will always use elements from other games but mostly they will ruin it..Want another Example take Resident Evil 4 & 5 they where like WHERE THE HELL ARE THE ZOMBIES?, RE took new elements from other games and now its consider like another third person Shooter Game, when Its was a unique game. This game is Good but for Castelvania Fans not so much even other Castelvanias where like Wth is this?.

@StopForChildren i agree resident evil got fucked up and the latest final fantasy was crap too. hell even the new front mission was totally different and all sucked for it but this game pulled it off well. platformers at the time were hack and slash of that era anyways given the limits of what the production teams could make so this really isnt all that much of a change up.

This game is practically nothing like the entries in the Castlevania series over the past 24 years. Not to say that this game is bad, I quite like it a lot, but there will be many fans who don't like a change of pace and immediately assume that it's crappy.

@StopForChildren It has whipping, climbing, puzzle solving and a gothic setting. The only thing that could possibly make it feel more like the old CV games is if it was a 2D sidescroller. But what would be the point in that? It's a 2010 reboot.
If you want a game that is 100% like the oldschool CV games, then go play THEM.

But this is not castelvania at all Lament of the Innocent PS2 was not a 2dsidescroller and it felt completely as a Castelvania. This Castelvania take elements that are not from Castelvania, except the Beltmont descendants.. This is like Castelvania trying to be like " Oh Cool Dude " when its absurd cause Castelvania ambience is other..

@SuperNinjaBros yeah it has 1st the the game is 20 hours long then after u beat the game u unlock the hardest difficulty, u want go back to previous levels collecting all the items u missed the first time through plus for each level there is a trial for u to do such as dont lose any life or do this level in this time. the main replay value is play the whole game again its that awesome i prefare this game to god of war 3

Yea GOW3 is a dissapointment. I seem to like these types of games though, i've bought Assasin's Creed II, GOW3, Darksiders (Today) & i am definently (did i spell that right?) getting Assasin's Creed Brotherhood & Castlevania.

The best looking game on the xbox 360. Inmersive. Great action. Great story. Intense. Difficult, but not too much. And clever designed puzzles (Don´t usually like puzzles). Awesome. Is in my top 5, that´s sure.

So what if combat's similar to GoW? Castlevania was already leeching off Metroid, jRPGs and horror movie clichés years and years before LoS.
Castlevania Lords of Shadow was a very welcome surprise for me and gets my personal vota for the best game of 2010 so far. And, boy, the way they wrapped this game was just brilliand and an absolute mind blowing unexpected climax.

I dont get it why people bragging about castlevania 2d when this is 3d, what do u expect?? you want the character only can do 1 or 2 hit combo, that looks stupid IMO.. game is about enjoyment not a name, when you really enjoy the game, it means the developer did a good job, that's it. I dont care if a game copied this or this, if the game is really fun to play then why not.
