Big question here. Are you planning on coming out with a tacticool or laminate Savage AXIS stock? if so, when, and if not, do you guys do custom inletting to one of your current stocks?
I really, really think you should make one. Not just because a lot of people want them, but because a lot of people would buy them. I know a ton of people who want one. also, NOBODY else makes them. If you do make them, I can promise you, I will be one of the first to buy one! No matter what color or type.
@boydsgunstocks Mr. Boyd I love my setup I did with your stock on my savage 30-06 I will post a video of it soon... I put a sick ass carl Zeiss scope on it.. It's way too much for it but its hella cool.. I even was happy with the black scope and stainless steel barrel I wasn't sure if it would look good cause I didn't want the silver scope and I'm happy w it.. everyone looks at it and is like wow thats a sick sniper lol
@boydsgunstocks Thanks. I can only hope that you will start making one soon. If not I will just buy 1 of your stocks that is close and modyfi it to suit my needs.
@boydsgunstocks Welp its been 6 months and those Axis rifles are getting pretty popular. Any production runs in mind. Im sure me and a few thousand other people fond of the FT Thumbhole would pick one up in a heart beat!!! Please say yes!
@boydsgunstocks Thanks for the response but now I'm curious. What plastic are you refering to? Is part of the reciever plastic?!?! That scares me a little. I was thinking once the stock was removed it should be all metal. Please enlighten me.
@ThatDudeSirraj Sorry, I misspoke. Actualy, it is the trigger group on the bottom side of the stock that seats too far back and would interfere with the pistol grips of our stocks.
Sorry if that sounds too confusing, it's the best explaination I can give,
@boydsgunstocks Ah, ok. Gotcha. Welp, I got a little time before I'm on schedule for another purchase. And I'm a lefty so I'm still deciding if I'll go standard or buy based on what you have available for left handed stocks. But I WILL be buying something. Your stocks are too durn purdy to not have one :) real talk.
OK, I finally got this stock pillar bedded and can't wait to shoot it! The stock was a little tricky to pillar bed but, not impossible. I bought this stock because I wanted something better to look at than factory black synthetic and wanted a way to disperse some of the recoil from the 7mm. This stock fit the bill in many way including the overall weight makes it a "carrier " in the woods. Thanks again Randy. I will be buying another one shortly.
Just received my FT thumb hole today and wanted to comment on it for those that are considering this purchase. First off you must understand this is a review prior to shooting the firearm with the new stock. I give the stock 3 stars for fit and finish. It's beautiful, light, and well crafted. The "ONLY THING" I would change is, I wish it came pillar bedded. I than, would have easily paid $180 for the stock. I have purchase a lot more expensive thumb hole stocks with less quality.A+ Thanx Randy
i cannot wait to get my 10/22 project started this year im goin for the exact stock he has the ft in the red with whistlepugs polished aluminium barrel with red flutes with Volquartsen Precision Competition Kit so excited
received my boyd's thumbhole last week, looks great, receiver drops right in, great fit and finish
that's the good, now the bad
the thumbhole rubs my thumb on top, the angle is not good for the shooting hand to take full advantage of the grip. the thumbhole / pistol grip part is horrible, i'm going to have to see if i can do some body work to make it usable. the forend is great, love it, the rest of the stock is top knotch, but the whole area for the shooting hand no go. so much for fac finish
@csjackson, agreed, awesome, top notch on everything, i guess my hand is bigger than the standard, i was limited on words in my post, the other piece to the equation is i have some pretty big hands. so for most regular sized people they probably won't have a problem. and other than that i love this stock, and agree with you, it is a thing of beauty.

@casey21979 It is optional. If you shoot a lot, some say it aids in stability and accuracy.

@ThatDudeSirraj There is just too much plastic on the Axis Rifles. We aren't gearing up for these at this time.
Sorry!
